      I think eventually Jeff Lynne will be considered the UK’s top artist, great use of his voice in this song, great production value as always, and a great guy as well.
      He only realised he and ELO were famous when one hot day he was walking down a local street to his home, and he heard this song coming out of most the house windows.

    Back in the 80's my friends would tease me for listening to bands like ELO because they considered them "outdated". So happy that 4 decades later people still appreciate this great music.

    • @centuryrox
      @centuryrox 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      In the 70s, school kids would call ELO "gay", and you "gay" if you liked ELO. Although I highly suspect most people that said those things secretly liked ELO, but would never admit it!

    never cared for it much as a 17 year old but at 64 i appreciate the lyrics, melody and the sadness it evokes.

    I was going to comment about how the power of music is truly transcendent and blah blah blah, but your reaction makes me realize that sometimes words are useless. Some music just creates a reaction of the soul, and there are no words to really do it justice. There are times when you just need to sit back and groove, and know that you have experienced something truly great. And the pure joy on your face says it all.

      @suziechapstick8236 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They were never mainstream popular but they definitely had a strong following. This is from someone who worked at a music store in the 1980s and had trouble keeping them in stock.

    • @Cosmo-Kramer
      @Cosmo-Kramer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@suziechapstick8236 The '80s was past their prime, and Jeff Lynne disbanded ELO in '86. So you weren't working in a music store during their halcyon days of the '70s, when they were pumping out hit after hit after hit, and were staples on the rock and pop radio stations. Did you know that during ELO's 15-year career they had more Top 40 Hits combined between the US and the UK than ANY OTHER BAND IN THE WORLD during that span?! Oh, you are mistaken, my dear...ELO was most definitely "mainstream popular".

    • @suziechapstick8236
      @suziechapstick8236 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Cosmo-Kramer Cool. Did YOU know that in the 80s most people didn't give a fuck about ELO because they were deemed a dinosaur band with one or two hits that anyone actually remembered and were outshined by literally every new artist on the block? Here I was trying to be kind, and you had to go and try and school me about my own life experiences. Your mistake was applying your take to mine in an all or nothing approach that makes you look like an asshole. I get that old age tends to make people cranky, but we don't always have to bow to stereotypes, do we.

    Hola.
    " Telephone line " ( 1976 ) , es una canción de estilo doo wop , herencia directa - creo - del sonido de bandas vocales norteamericanas de los años 50 's , tales como The Platters , The Drifters o The Skyliners.
    ( En 1977 , con el tema " Sweet talking woman " , harían lo mismo. )
    Una tremenda balada con toques beatles , pero adentrada en el rock -pop sinfónico setentero .
    Hay , también , influencia de agrupaciones como The Marmalade , The Hollies , The Animals , The Cats , The Everly Brothers y tantas otras .
    Gracias por acordarte de esta tremenda banda de la ciudad inglesa de Birmingham.
    Un abrazo cordial.
    Saludos desde Chile , Sudamérica.

    It churns up deep emotions. Bitter sweet memories of past love. It leaves only the sweet now which is proof that the love was real. The bitter always left room to doubt my love was real. Now without the bitter my heart just swell. Gives me hope my heart has healed and ready for a new love just as intense. ELO's music sounds as magical as love itself.
    The combination of this song and your beautiful tearless reaction lead me to this new realization about myself. Hope you had the same realization too ! ❤️ Thanks for choosing this song. I feel my words may have gotten in the way of what my heart ❤️ is trying to express. Luckily another listen to this song is all that is necessary. It speaks my heart for me. By His stripes we are healed. ❤️😊

    Great reaction, Morenikeji. I got excited when I saw you had reacted to ELO and emotional when I heard the music, as is usual. They are just so fantastic. As you like the strings they use I would recommend listening to Poor Boy (The Greenwood) for the end part. Otherwise most ELO songs are brilliant. Turn To Stone the live Wembley version is thrilling, while for a story-type song The Diary Of Horace Wimp is ideal for a reaction video. Take care dear woman.
