Back in the 80's my friends would tease me for listening to bands like ELO because they considered them "outdated". So happy that 4 decades later people still appreciate this great music.

I remember when ELO were first formed in the early 1970s (as The Electric Light Orchestra, before they shortened the name.) Hard to imagine now, but at the time many of us thought the band was finished when Roy Wood left. He was the charismatic and wildly eccentric front man, as he was with the band that preceded ELO (The Move) and his subsequent band (Wizzard.) He seemed to be the main creative force. Jeff came across as rather staid and stoic by comparison, But we underestimated him, he kept the band going and took it to new heights; we grew to love his version of the ELO sound, many the huge string of hits since then speaks for itself. His distinct, distant sounding vocals compliment and emphasise the sound rather than dominating it, so the instrumentals also shine through, and the effect is superb. He is a musical genius both creatively and technically, and ELO are rightfully now a household name (and Rock’n’Roll Hall of Famers.)
There is also a video on TH-cam of them live in Wembley singing this in 2017 and it gives me even more chills. All the fans from when they were younger singing along make it even more amazing.
I was going to comment about how the power of music is truly transcendent and blah blah blah, but your reaction makes me realize that sometimes words are useless. Some music just creates a reaction of the soul, and there are no words to really do it justice. There are times when you just need to sit back and groove, and know that you have experienced something truly great. And the pure joy on your face says it all.
I didn’t mean to be away for a while. Your girl has been indisposed. I feel a bit better now (at least I could edit and upload this😄). Thank you for watching and your support. xoxo❤️
They were never mainstream popular but they definitely had a strong following. This is from someone who worked at a music store in the 1980s and had trouble keeping them in stock.

I have another song from that era that I'd like to recommend. Jackson Browne - "The Load Out & Stay". It's a beautiful song about the life on the road for musicians, the time traveling, the time away from family, questioning if it's worth it, and then you have that moment when the lights come on, the crowd roars and realizing that's what makes it worth the sacrifice.
Great reaction, Morenikeji. I got excited when I saw you had reacted to ELO and emotional when I heard the music, as is usual. They are just so fantastic.
