I used to do that. Buy blank cassette tapes to record songs. I would get mad at the DJ on the radio when he talks too much while the song is about to start.
@@hubrisnaut Also tough because when a musician passes away, another part of your youth dies too. It forces you to face your own mortality, and reflect on the deaths of others in your life.

Man The Cars. "Whose gonna plug your ears when you scream?" Astounding lyrics. Great band. RIP Ben Orr and Ric Okasek. Thanks for the great music guys. We miss you.
@@leojones22- Not a great big deal, but it’s actually “…who’s gonna plug *their* ears when you scream?” The meaning is kind of self explanatory. Screams are loud. Sometimes so loud, it feels like the sound is hurting the ears of whoever hears it. Covering or plugging the ears makes the screams sound not as loud. Or are you asking what the line means? The question is, who will be there with you when you scream?
The Cars had a LOT of hits in the 70s and 80s. Ric Ocasek (the skinny guy in the video interacting with the woman, who's Paulina Porizkova, wife of Ric, and model) was the frontman, singer, and songwriter. Ben Orr is bass player and singer on this song. Ric said that whenever they wrote a song that needed a really good singer, they'd give that one to Ben. Ric and Ben are now both deceased.
One of my favorite songs. Not just because it's beautiful, and evocative, but because I loved a girl like this. I'm sure many of us have. You think your love can fix somebody who's broken.
Beautiful song, when it was played at Live Aid over the famine scenes in Ethiopia everybody was in tears. As usual, a spot on reaction, always nice to see your smile at the end!
I was in blessed to see the Cars in concert with Ben Orr before his passing.. Nothing is better than the 80s.. I forgot Paula was in the in the video wife to singer Ric.. RIP Ben and Ric
Paulina Porizkova, very pretty woman. Was a model. Also a published author and very smart. Her performance added such a deep poignancy to the theme of the video.
Sometimes you don't even know what you want or need, you just know that you want someone to be there for you. That's what this song means to me. Thank you for being here for your beautiful TH-cam family, Morenikeji. Seeing your pretty face always makes my day.
This song has such a dreamy quality to it. It's like listening to something in a dream that you can just barely remember when you wake up the next day.
Drive is their best song, in my humble opinion. Rick and Paulina, husband and wife. Ben Orr from Cleveland ,Ohio. RIP Rick Ocasek RIP Benjamin Orr Hypnotized by Fleetwood Mac is a rare gem. It’s not the usual Buckingham/Nicks collaboration.

Beautiful 💘 song I want to thank god for the timing of my birth to actually live in the era when songs like this was written and sung to actually see people fall in love behind some of these great 👌 songs, very appreciative.
I can still remember exactly that this song flowed straight into my heart as a boy and stayed there for months and still is, it was in East Germany. Possibly one of the greatest songs of all time and Benjamin Orr is a great singer full of soul. I saw that he touched your heart to. I've seen all the reactions and yours was the most honest and soulful thanks for that❤
Some facts about the song/video: . The guy who appears as the boyfriend having an argument is Ric Ocasek - composer, guitarist, and singer (not the singer on this song) . The girl is the model Paulina Porizkova, a czech model . Paulina and Ric met each other when they were filming the video and 5 years later they got married. Their marriage lasted 30 years. Ric passed away aged 75. . The singer - Ben Orr (bassist, composer too) sadly passed away very young aged 53.
I love this sound so much it was 1984 that i found my first love when i was back in school everytime i hear this sound i just feel to cry... it touch my heart a lot
Interesting! The two arguing are Rick Ocasek and his wife, model Paulina Poreskova while the singer in this song is Benjamin Orr. Rick wrote much of their music and sang many of the songs. The video shows the early days of MTV with bands exploring the new medium of visual art. This came out while I was ending a long term relationship. It has that quiet sorrow down! Thank you for sharing young lady! 😽💋🎶
In my opinion, your reaction is perfect. It’s what I want others to feel when hearing this song, one of my all-time favorites. If you’re recognizing the beauty and potential heartbreak and loneliness from this song, then you’re one more human I can trust and I think lives in reality. Music doesn’t have to be happy to be pretty; there is no correlation to what we want to feel and how a melody, instrumentals and lyrics are put together. Most of the prettiest songs have some melancholy in them. Some people just don’t want you to bring THEM down, so they pressure you to assume things always need to be happy… which is foolish and delusional. They really knocked it out of the park with sheer sound in this song. The entire piece sweeps me into imagining evenings of 1986 when I was first able to drive, but didn’t have a car, was afraid to ask my parents to borrow theirs (dad was sorta conservative in more meaning than today - no needless gas burning, discouraged any spending for fun, it was a big deal to know I was interested in a girl or “going out” somewhere.. ). So I sat home a lot wondering about this dream girl and what overconfident jock was possibly “driving her home”, which ate me up inside. As a kid who looked young for 17, had talent and I wasn’t bad-looking (picture a darker, smaller Patrick Swayze)… I felt I had a chance (at school she sometimes smiled at me and teased a little), but I could NOT shake my corny country boy doubt and grow a backbone to ask her out. I knew the competition was fierce and I didn’t want heart break. So I would daydream that after others might get turned away by her, I would sing this at some club - (though karaoke was still a couple years away for my small town) - and she would coincidentally walk in at that time, bitter from experience but melting from my performance, and we start talking and live happily ever after together LOL!! It never happened, I just imagined and fantasized. The background on this piece takes me immediately back to those small sleepy towns of upstate N.Y., finally getting a car and remembering that dream girl while friends and I cruised… street lamps not quite adequate, providing a sense of wonder, hope and yet also anxiety. It’s heart ache but it IS beautiful.
Mo, you get so caught up in the emotion of the songs you hear. It is so touching for me to see the expressions on your beautiful face which reveal this. You are such an honest person, unafraid to show how you feel. That too is beautiful. Thank you so much for making my day again. Colin from Scotland.
