I have the 2019 CV40 version of your camper and had the same battery problem, worrying to think its still happening over a year later! I had a bike rack that smashed into the rear door pillar on opening (no door restraints fitted a a nice dent in my 12 hour old van!), headrest cover on back to front, sink waste pipe not connected.USB socket near the TV aerial socket gave such massive interference that the TV only picked up 10 channels. I wrote to Elddis - never even received an acknowledgment! I put everything right myself and am now really happy with the van. My stand alone table became wardrobe shelves and the flip up kitchen worktop became 2 shelves to the rear of the wc and on the other side behind the fridge. I replaced the cheap solar charger for a decent viltron and added a second battery. Enjoy your van and everything it has to offer :)
I sold my house and bought a new van from brownhills. First Van they took back as it was riddled with damp, I then bought a Rapido, and so much stuff broke and then spent 2 months parked up there. Couldn’t leave it there as it was my home! In the end, they took the van back. I made friends with some of the staff though which was nice.
It does seem not just Brownhills but many dealers have to deal with terrible build quality, I guess how they handle it is what matters. Hopefully you’re ok now?
great job with the boxing in,i will do it with our cv60.our previous van all the gubbins were out of the way.keep up the great videos please ,rick and heather thanks.
So glad I found your videos! Very informative! We are due collect our CV20 at the end of January, 'probably'! We are first time campervanners, and really looking forward to the adventure!
If you chose to keep videos private or unlisted on TH-cam, they will not be flagged to your subscribers. I like your shelves and boxing. Good idea to protect the water and heating pipes too. Thanks for sharing 😃 Trev
Well done to the dealer, funny how quick things can change. The pump will be less niosey boxed in. Good idea's. I just upgraded my Boxer to LED headlight, so much brighter.
Well done on the tap fix, hopefully that’s the last of any issues, I bet they were hoping on you not knowing ‘the law’ and just accepting 6-8 weeks fix time, though you probably got to feel sorry for whoever purchases the next new van as it might have a ‘stolen tap’ and the replacement might leak 😬 Is there a trip planned?
I’m quite funny about liking my batteries to be in outside cupboards & to be able to get to them.Maybe a bit more difficult in a campervan as opposed to a motorhome.
Thanks, it doesn’t have to be pretty and it’s easily removed for the hab check when due, I’m just making the most of the space as we just down sized from a coachbuilt so it’s a lot smaller.
Great job Ricky! Just a thought - I wonder if residual heat from any of the "cardboard" heating pipes might help keep condensation at bay in the half height wardrobe or any of the under-bench storage areas? If you bored some large holes in any of the boxing in you've done, it might provide some warmth and allow the air to circulate a little.
I don’t think so, if you look at the various mounting options on the unit it can fit in many different areas, I’ve not blocked any vents but will keep my eyes on it...
Hi I will be doing these shelves, fab idea Do you happen to know the internal drawer dimensions under the sink area as we are looking for a cutlery tray ready for when we collect our new van Many thanks Shaun & Claire
Interesting video. I have just ordered a CV60 from Brownhills, so I guess I'm now forewarned. Like you, I'll be looking to do a few mods to help with storage, do you know if they have any warranty implications?
Hi we picked our van up at the weekend, some great tips on modifications from you guys. We've modified the wardrobe space with a couple of shelves. As mentioned the table is unusable and seems destined for the awning. Solved the problem with a Quest Fleetwood high table at £20 fits perfectly. One question the dealer seemed unwilling to commit too, do you turn off the gas main valve off before travelling? It's located on the tank under the cover plate and is a right chew to reach. Cheers
They are screwed into the wood, no need to worry if you use the right screws, worst case you remove and fill a tiny hole then cover with wood coloured sticker. As for the outside fabric I’m not sure what you mean? The van is metal not a coachbuilt. Ultimately I’m not worried about adapting my van for my needs, I didn’t buy a van to keep standard and afraid to use, I’m not worried about the resale price I don’t think people on the whole care if the odd screw has been added. Thanks for watching
I was really fond of the layout of this van but after reading some of the comments and your hiccups with your van I have to rethink, I am in Ireland so I only found a dealer in the north so not a hope as a 66year lady on my own I need to be sure sure noting goes wrong and was really shocked about the lose screws etc
The battery was not bolted down so was free to move about, also the negative terminal was loose and the positive did not even have a nut and bolt on so the connection was loose (this prevents things working and in extreme cases is a fire risk) also when charging batteries give off hydrogen gas and should be vented to atmosphere the battery did not have a vent tube fitted! Anything else I can answer please ask, I’m always happy to help. Thanks for watching 👍
@@RickandHeather Thanks for all the speedy replies! I'll see if I can spot that battery vent tube in any of your videos. I think when you use any particular piece of kit, it's worth putting a link under the video description so you don't repeatedly get asked for references.
Mad isn’t it? I try really hard to do great content on my car channel and I average about 500 views, film myself doing bad woodworking and get loads.... that said obviously more people like camping than old cars....
I just said the exact same to Rae as she was watching over my shoulder but that’s it-anything campervan brings in the viewers. How they find their way there is a mystery to me.but that’s TH-cam for you I guess. R’s friend had to move on her 18month old caravan this year & even though it was last week in July it still sold by end of August/1st week in September. 😧
Probably more to do with the fact that this is yet another new camper where a dealer has not PDI'd the van properly .... even though they say they give you all the waffle of how quality minded their staff are and how they go through the van with a fine tooth comb, putting right what the factory has missed.. .. sorry to say.. but no matter what van you buy, the UK dealers are shockingly poor on after service... and Brownhills have heard all the threats before believe me.. you will soon learn that ... fingers crossed that you have "dropped" on a good un .... or you may need your local solicitor and trading standards on speed dial...
@@yoki9743 I’m sure you’re right, larger dealers definitely do seem to be very cocky but I’m hopeful we’re ok now, the internet is a powerful place these days I’m sure dealers have started to realise they can’t take people for fools too often. As it stands we’re still happy that although we had to cajole them into it that the fault was repaired.
R bought her, a 20 year old first van from Motorlands in Blackpool & they couldn’t have been better as they paid for a new radiator I fitted as it ran a touch hot on the way home. There were also issues with the fridge but I took it out & returned it to them rather than the van. Ok it’s a 20 year old van with a 3month warranty but they were beyond fab. I think a lot of it is your attitude. Have that in place & folk go the extra mile.
