A little word of warning, done this mod on our cv40 for extra space. But on ours there was another screw (impossible to see or get to) behind the fitted board holding it in, I applied a bit of pressure and ripped the unseen screw out, which made a slightly bigger hole in the ceiling, nothing too bad and as covered with the new boarding, was lucky could have been a lot worse.

That's the overcab mod done, can't believe how much space we've gained. 2 big pillows and 2 large throws and space left over. Regarding comments about ventilation, no worries when you look at Elddis's excellent pre installed when they cut any boards. Thanks again, cheers. I passed it on to a guy I know on a CV group and he's over the moon as well. Carry on with the great work and if people don't like any mods they can scroll on by, you won't be getting any thumbs down from me..

@@RickandHeather Credit where it's due. I'm sitting my good lady down to watch Heather's video about power etc tonight, hopefully she'll pay more attention the Heather than she does to me - normally the eyes glaze over about 12 volts and solar but she's coming round. Take care & stay safe but enjoy..

Hi Rick. Very much enjoyed the video, and don't agree with those who think by maximising spaces you are doing anything negative with your van. On the contrary, if/when you might come to sell it, any new owner would appreciate the very neat job you've done on all the storage projects you've done. Although we're now in a caravan, your vlogs on this have sent me around our van to check on any redundant spaces to see if I could use them better than the original construction. Thanks for sharing. George and Trish.

Great advice, that's exactly what I do in a van, put little shelves etc to make it suit me. We have a cv20 due, cant wait to do this, the piano hinge is genius. Also I put USB sockets in my old van and leds etc.

Great video, and I cannot see why people think you are ruining the van, you are either making use of dead space or improving the van with things you want in it.

Some people see you drilling holes or whatever and they think it’s wrong I guess? I haven’t paid 45k to put up with things that don’t suit me, I’ve been camping for 30 odd years so I know what works for me

I got the same with my 1986 caravan....
I only added blown air heating and a few sockets and the purists went nuts...!
Maybe it was the USB outlets that sent em over the edge 🤣
After a few choice words... I was banned from the group 🙄 (story of my life) 🤣

Good work again Rick I think the recess for that table pole are always a winner , we are always kicking our 4 legged table up in the air or catching our feet & tea going everywhere or the dogs nudging past etc drives us nuts . Great hacks 👍

Neat ideas well done, although one note of caution, it is not always a good idea to box in electrical equipment to tight especially when the apparatus may have cooling vents as they require the heat they build up inside to dissipate but, if you do, put several holes in the panels you're fitting to allow air to flow.

In the end you have to make alterations if you’re living with a van, everything I do can be reversed with a little bit of wood filler. 😊
