Do you actually believe that songwriters lose their songwriting ability after they turn 50? 60? The late Burt Bacharach was still writing/co-writing great songs in his 90s. He co-wrote the beautiful love song "Always" with Richard Marx which is on Marx's most recent album (Songwriter from 2022). There are some great recent songs out there, like: Billy Joel's new song "Turn the Lights Back On", Ann Wilson's (of Heart) duet with the band Disturbed's song "Don't Tell Me", Diamante's 80s style song "1987", Chez Kane's "A Cappella", Dennis DeYoung's "East of Midnight" (and the rest of that 26 East, vol. 1 album that the song is from), etc. There is a recent music video "Your Own Hero" that features Mike Reno (of Loverboy) on a new song from the upcoming World Stage album Roots and Shoots vol. 2. Which is coming out next week.
I thought the same thing. You know how it changed. In 1990 a rap group NWA and this gangster rap took over, which lead to guns and the violence you see today. I'm 56 years old and I can tell you that. Period
Man can someone take me back to the 80s .....best times of our lives and didn't know it ......all the movies from that time had some great soundtracks .....what happened?!.....No way the new Top Gun movie music can be better then this soundtrack......Top 5 of all time

He recorded it on VHS and I wore it out watching it so many times. That movie and the soundtrack single handedly sparked my love for fighter jets and military history etc. Come to think of it airplane was one of my first words too lol.
Loverboy is a drastically underrated band. Mike Reno was a great singer, and all the members of the group were great musicians as far as I'm concerned.
@@user-ve5ln5le9y truth...I'm a proud Cdn, from Loverboy's "adopted hometown". Was born in early 70s, so a teen when all this great music was coming out. And, def agree - Canada had a LOT of great bands, many who didn't get the recognition they deserved. Maybe that should change ;-)
1986 was a great time to be alive. Love the 80's! I was a 16 year old kid living the dream. Enjoying high school with some of the greatest friends I've ever knew in my life. Some have came and gone in my life but everyone I spent time with will always be a huge part of me. Thank you!
The greatest period of my life too, it was too hard for me and my friends and we were struggling with so many things, these songs were keeping us alive, hopeful and moving. I still feel teenage whenever I listen to these songs, they are eternal. Such a great decade was 80's!
That is the same way I feel about middle school or Jr. High. Those friends or types of people I never found ever again. Not in high school not in college not today working in real life. I'm 45 now and friends you made in that era are still your friend. "So called friends" now , I have seen them turn complete 180 degrees, once they get what they want out of you

I don't think LOVERBOY every truly got the fame they deserved.....they were the Canadian version of JOURNEY.....Best decade for music without doubt....LONG LIVE THE '80S!!!!
Hey I like that comparison. I liked Loverboy and my friends would frown about that even though we all listened to Journey. Well if they only knew I liked Air Supply too...😅😅
Saw Loverboy open for Foreigner last night in Atlanta. This song blew me away live! They are just as passionate and powerful as they were back in the day...maybe more!
I agree that Top Gun is a great movie. I was in the US Air Force when this movie came out and thought it looked like a good movie, so I went and saw it. I loved it so much that I went back and saw it several more times. When the movie came out on DVD I had to purchase it and I don't know how many times I've watched it. I love it for so many reasons, and the soundtrack is one of the primary reasons.
Top Gun is my favorite movie of all time. It came out 2 years before I was born and my Dad said I knew it word for word when I was 4 years old haha. These 80's power ballad love songs are pure gold. If you're here..You are legends my friends and have great taste in music. :)
Just saw them in concert at the PNC in NJ Sept 3rd. Absolutely awesome from start to finish. It took me back to the 80's. I wanted him to sing all night. What a voice. God bless Mike and the band. Thank you from my heart.
Class of 87 didnt know how good i had it the music was the best still the best no comparison. If i could go back for two day's just to relive some greatest times of my life
I was in the United States Navy when this song came out talk about a rush this was awesome man did it make us proud they did a fantastic job on Top Gun 1 and Maverick Top Gun 2 was just as good awesome awesome job Tom Cruise and cruise. I miss my generation of good music this is a great song from that generation love it and all the years that passed and I listen I can honestly say I finally found the man who I can see the heaven in his eyes
Everyone wishes we could go back to the 80’s. The lives our kids are living are not the same at all. It makes me so sad. I remember back then one of my friends said to me, “ these are the good ole days” I just remembered it a few weeks ago. Boy, they were!
The 80s for me was the best music and fun ever. Roller skating with friends, dancing to music and really having fun. Not like today with video games, cell phones, laptops and other electronics like that.
I was born in 1979 but the 80s and 90s were the best years in my opinion. Best movies 🍿 and music 🎵 Also the TV 📺 shows where great. The old school pin ball machines and the Arcade. I used to miss hanging out at the go cart track after school 🏫 TOP GUN the original and MAVERICK are my top two movies of all time.
I was serving in the Army 🪖🎖️ whenever this song came out. I personally KNEW of several friends that REFUSE to listen because of the bands name! People said it was a GAY band. Back in those days I believe they would of went IF the band would of had a different name?!🤯🤔?THIS is such a beautiful song...
I understand you know for back the but it's no about the artist ,for me it's the music ,and how you feel in that moment when your listening to it ,there's so many different emotions that rush to the surface ,depending on what this song reminds you of !that's the beauty of music ,it makes you feel so many things it's like magic.
2022 and it is still my favorite rock ballad of all time, romantic, spiritual, sensitive, sublime, one of the best songs in the history of music. I love it!
@ Keith Driggers, you are so right. The 1980’s were the best. We will never see those times or feel those feelings again. Can’t be replicated. 1980’s were the best times. People actually cared about the next man (or woman). God bless all out here.

Rock power ballads are just so good. I have been listening too so many. Some other ballad recommendations: "When I look into your eyes" - Firehouse, "Heaven" - Warrant, "Blind Faith" Warrant, "Miles Away" - Winger, "Love of a lifetime" - Firehouse, and "Cant fight this feeling" - REO Speedwagon.
Saw the whole video and the keyboard player doesn't come out on the video cuz he refused. He felt the movie where this song came out glorified war. Wow...he stuck to his guns (no pun intended). Kudos to him...
No cell phones, social media garbage, just living in the moment!! Take me back in time!

So so so true. 80s....MTV had videos

I grew up in the 80s and 90s, and actually feel sorry for my kids growing up now!
The 80’s are the best they don’t make music good anymore. Music today sucks.
That is the mantra of the musical path. It "was" always better!
Humans got tired of the good stuff now they love Crap.

1986 was the best movie year ever! Platoon, Top Gun, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Stand by Me, Highlander, Pretty in Pink, Delta Force, Heartbreak Ridge, Cobra, Ruthless People, Three Amigos, The Fly, Big Trouble in Little China, Back To School, Blue Velvet.....
A top ballad!
Man, I freaking love LOVERBOY... Powerful music!!! Like a gut punch in the heart❤! Guess I didn't they were in so many of my memories!
Saw the whole video and the keyboard player doesn't come out on the video cuz he refused. He felt the movie where this song came out glorified war. Wow...he stuck to his guns (no pun intended). Kudos to him...
Moi aussi, je retournerais dans les années 80! N'importe quand!
The music back then is waaaay better then todays generation. My generation suck!
