Some of you have asked for a video on how to block your EGR and so I've put this video together to show you how its done and give you a bit of information on why you should and should not block it off.
In the end, the choice is yours as long as you're aware of possible repercussions.

Can you show us how to do the swirl mod on the zd 30 so it keeps your butterfly valve always open and sucking fresh air
Hey mate, quick question - is the exhaust gas flowing through the pipe towards the blanking plate you installed or does it flow from the blanking plate end of that tube through towards the passenger side of the car ?
I’ve seen other videos where people have blanked off both ends too - is this required too or only at the end you blocked off ?
Would you do anything different with your set up ?
And can you do one showing to you set up your catch can please ?

My 2.5 D22 has always blown a ton of black soot. Do you recon this will fix it?

I can’t find one on eBay that suits?
so if the cpu is expecting a ceritan amount of flow from the egr is the engine running rich, eg over fuel relative to the total volume of air input? as there should be a small volume of air contaminated exhaust gas added to the air intake.
So do you on block that one side on the 2.5?
Is this a direct injection engine? Do you know if L200 mk3 4d56 is did?

You said you blanked the EGR in two places (on the YD25 I assume) so was the second blank put at the other end of that elbow shaped tube - where it connects to the cooler core of the EGR pipe?
Both end of the pipe. That's it

Hey man, chances are you'll still have oil vapours creeping through the piston rings so a catch can is still a good idea if you're blocking the EGR 👍😁

Hey mate, nope there should be no noticeable difference to the throttle or fuel economy. Its purely an emissions thing 👌

9 months on, have you still got it blanked and would you do it again ?
I want to know - where does all that gas go now once it’s been blanked off ? It must go somewhere .... a bit like a circumcision for your car 😆

d22 is one of only cars where egr blanking seems to not be noticed by the system is what i’m aware

Hey, dude. I pierced a hole in the pipe you loosened, just before the blanking plate. So fumes are escaping before the block. The question is, can I block the EGR from the first part you loosened instead as well to stop fumes escaping?
You should be able to block it from both ends with the right gasket. Or a lot of people make their own 👍
@@ap4x4 Thanks. I hit a gnarly track and the battery mount came loose and went _berserk_ flying around the engine bay, luckily only causing a small hole in the EGR pipe.
It was a toss up between installing a $100+ replacement or blocking it for free. Have a good weekend, bro.

Nope, just block it and you're good to go

Hey mate, to my knowledge the swirl mod is only for the ZD30 and I haven't done it yet. I do intend on getting around to it though at some stage ✌️

What about errors ? Do you need to remap or anything of the sorts to stop any errors?
Hey mate, you shouldn't need to. These are one of a handful of vehicles that don't need anything done after the block 👍

I was told if I do the egr blank on my 2012 d22 I would need to get it tuned, as I wouldn't idol fine.
@@xavierdobson7765 my guess would be it depends on if the EGR inserts exhaust gases into the intake after or before the Oxygen sensor, I'm only just learning about EGRs but Even if it is after the oxygen sensor you may not need a tune because no excessive air is adding in the intake should be smooth still but I'm not sure

Searched the entire web and cannot find a yes or no answer. Does blanking the egr produce more soot out of the exhaust. (I’m a red p plater and want my zd30 patrol to soot😂)
Soot = unburnt diesel.
Just get a really bad tune bro, it'll soot as much as you want.
If my yd25 has been remapped, will an egr block effect it?
I wouldn't have thought so, alot of remaps will actually electronically remove the EGR function anyway. But I'm unsure whether a remap could have any impact sorry mate.
Hey is that pipe ment to be kinda hot I put new oil in my bus today and realise that my 2nd battery is a little melted 😂

What I'm doing in the video is basically it. Its uncommon for the D22s to throw an engine light because of an EGR blank. You do hear the odd story but it is uncommon

If I did block the EGR and the light comes on, can you get rid of the light off or a scan tool is needed

@@rosesolon9243 should be able to use a scan tool or EDS to clear any lights 👍
You can also drill a SMALL hole in the Centre of egr plate To allow a little gas to flow through. This should keep the light off. I did it on my Audi and it Worked. Now to try it on my pathfinder

My EGR decided to die when I was doing important things like not wanting to stand on the side of the road. I'm sure the extra emissions are marginal compared to the governments share. Also your tax contributions will likely offset the dirty stuff. Get it gone.

Blocking an EGR is a bad idea. It causes cylinder overheating & turbo overheating issues. It is not just there for pollution reasons.
DON'T DO IT. ENGINE GETS TOO HOTE AND GETS LESS FUEL. LOWER POWER
