@@andrieslouw3811 My bro. A referendum would only work if the government, along with every other province, allows the Western Cape to leave.
Just think for a second how unlikely that is.
Also, do you realize that such a move would only make the anc and eff more powerful? They would frame this as a huwyte pipo trying to take land from the majority. Many of the natives here are already on the fence about supporting parties like the DA. A move like this would only shift them further to the anc and eff.

    I'm for cape independence :
The western cape cannot continue the to run successfully with the influx of the entire South Africa, and illegal immigrant crises.
Cape Town has a unique cultural position,
The highest domographic of coloured people, which are primarily found in Western Cape.
Land reclamation in Cape Town is obstructed through national government intervention.
Historically, the Cape was a colony on its own.
Historically, Cape Town at points had more slaves than slave owners.
Right now, land grabs, foreign labor and homelessness, service delivery, domestic home problems, are some of the issues to tackle as a priority as an independent state.
The western cape also doesn't have the municipal or service delivery problems as in arrears as other provinces,
Which is already hard in maintaining, better so done in isolation

Historically Western Cape was part of a continent of Africa… Colonialism change that the same way democracy rectified that.. you cannot hold on to the history that oppressed other people. You are only pointing out the concerns of many south africans… western cape belongs to Republic of South Africa not just the select few that live in it.. it is one of the Strategic economic zones for the country… one of the entry ports of the country… illegal immigrants are a problem in every province trust me Limpopo, Mpumalanga and Gauteng may have it worse… The country has suffered enough segregation we need to stand up as one to build this maturing country… we have only 30 years of disappointing democracy we should learn from the past 30 years and insist on qualified leaders to lead the country… I admit the past 25 years those who were voting we doing so with the memory of the country’s past but now we have a new generation that does not know the dark past or experienced it rather. All they know is the disappointments from the current government, i am sure they will change the current political status.

@@tshidisokele3672 "you cannot hold on to the history that oppressed other people" Who wants to do that and by means of what?
"western cape belongs to Republic of South Africa not just the select few that live in it" True but the republic of South Africa neglect the those who live in the WC so they have a right like all other South Africans to decide upon their own future and not leave it to an incompetent ANC/EFF/MK regime. As stated in the SA Constitution art 235.
"The country has suffered enough segregation we need to stand up as one to build this maturing country…" The country is now suffering because of racial integration, illegal immigrants, etc and we all know what happened in Groblersdal just a few weeks ago. Orania is a huge success while the rest of SA suffers so why adopt a policy or a lifestyle that is not working? Tribalism is the answer, people want something to be proud on, you can't be proud on something that don't belong to you, be realistic.
"All they know is the disappointments from the current government, i am sure they will change the current political status" So you do acknowledge the current regime is a failure, well let me burst your bubble the next regime will be exactly the same.

You cannot steal from someone and then turn around and say let's live together in Peace while you have corrected your wrongs which your entire race continues to benefit from to this day. Sorry, this explanation by ActionSA is not a sufficient argument against having a referendum on secession. Mr Beaumont simply parrots the tired old narrative of "unity" but never explains what that means exactly, apart from finding it "offensive". Referendums are a signature tool of a mature democracy; the fact that post-94 SA has never actually had one speaks volumes already, but to then also claim that some vague notion of 'unity' is anathema to even holding referendums in the first place is more than a little bit suspicious. ActionSA's motives here seem dodgy.

The people of the Western Cape only want what is best for ourselves and our families. Just like everyone else. We want South Africa as a whole to thrive, but because people keep voting for ANC, other parties have been powerless to stop them.
If there was a better party that had a chance of winning the elections, had the people's interest at heart and decentralised government, we would not mind being a part of that at all.

Let Zuma and his MK party get Kwa-Zulu Natal to secede, and then he can be president for life there. This propaganda of Cape Independence being based on segregation is absolute nonsense. The rest of SA is just terrified of losing their cash cow.

In a democracy, true freedom means allowing political parties to exist even if their ideologies are unpopular, as long as they abide by the constitution's rules. Banning these parties would infringe upon the freedom of association and expression guaranteed by democratic principles
