- Seven political parties have formally entered into a pre-election's coalition agreement referred to as the Multi-Party Charter for South Africa. The opposition parties wrapped up a two-day engagement on Thursday - which resulted in a power-sharing deal ahead of the 2024 general elections.

The biggest problem they are facing, if they do manage to remove the ANC from power is the actual public servants themselves. It doesn't matter if you change the mayor/premier, the person doing the work on the ground level is the problem. You cannot simply fire the entire municipality/provincial staff because a new party is in charge. As an example - it has taken (and is still taking) over 2 years to get building plans approved in Krugersdorp, despite the fact that we had a DA major for the most of that time. Any architects that submit building plans will tell you that Krugersdorp is the slowest. Other metropols can get it done in a couple months, but Krugersdorp takes years. Any coalition would have to overcome not just the political heads, but also the political workers who have no desire to serve the public and just go to the office to collect their salary and their bribes
Regardless of who is Mayor, much the workforce have been employed via the cadre system. These municipalities need a good clean out, top to bottom. Prove themselves worthy for their positions. I see every day, teams of workers who have been given a task, standing for hours doing nothing. Qualified driven supervisors are KEY to getting the job done.

The ANC and EFF are targeting the poor because they know that's were the numbers are and these are the people that need convincing because they aren't going to vote. These pact shouldn't underestimate the ANC and EFF, if ANC doesn't get 50% of the votes next year then there will likely be a coalition of these 2 parties.
