The non-sequel / non-prequel to Undertale is here! Deltarune just recently came out and quite a few of you have requested that I make a video on it! Thankfully Deltarune is home to a decent amount of unused content! Quite often you guys ask me to make an Undertale Lost Bits video, so if this video does well, I’ll certainly look to make that one in the future as well!

@Digicraftmon the Crystal Gem I looked into the files once, i didnt see anything like a FUN value, only a dogcheck value
@Digicraftmon the Crystal Gem no the dogcheck value was in undertale too, it's restricting editing the save files. It's not for the FUN value and has no effect on the game, at least none that I know of, except for maybe softlocking the game until you change the value back. If you, for example, edit your save so you are in a room you can't access, a room that's not in the game, the dogcheck screen from the video appears, instead of letting you in the room, if you don't change the dogcheck value.

My guess is that UNUSED_slash_UNUSED text was deliberately written to never be used. I mean the game starts with you creating a character that immediately gets discarded. That text is perfectly in line coming from such a being thrust into the middle of nothingness and it's right up Toby's alley to include things in the game files like that for just that kind of purpose.
So by that logic this could be the text of the goner creation (yes that's it's name

I think the unused text... wasn’t meant to be used, at all.
This unknown character describes it as being “dark” and “silent”. I believe that this character is “trapped” in the files for Toby to leave as a sort of Easter egg for data miners.

Recently, someone found the dialogue for the unused clover topics. The topic of “gun control” leads to two of the heads arguing over using a controller or a mouse and keyboard.

I don't think the "unused" monologue parts like “Anyone? It’s dark in here...” were truly just unused. I think that's something Toby Fox placed inside the files of the game intentionally. Theory stuff.

8:15 There's even an especial object that appears once you enter the "Underground" if you skip most of the text of the prologue. This object allows you to skip dialogues by pressing *C*

8:16 actually, this isn't exclusive to the debug mode. in chapter 1 by skipping everything with x + z you get an item that allows you to do it and in chapter 2 you can do it by default
i remember someone saying how the unused text could be a secret for dataminers hinting at the character you created that was "discarded". it never says it was removed, only discarded, so it's an interesting thought if your characters are now stuck in a void

At 4:44 I think gml stands for gaster monologue
It talks about how dark it is, so this could have been used for a cutscene where gaster is in the void

Well, GML is short for Game Maker Language, the coding language used by Game Maker software, which Toby used to make this and Undertale

I think this message represents an early version of the DeltaRune ending. I also think that Kris is saying this, because he is controled by the player. That was removed and replaced with the scene where Kris takes out the player's soul to set himself free from the player's control.
I also think that this text was planned for a Gaster scene where Gaster is trapped in the void how is mentioned by the Gaster Followers in UnderTale.
It is important to think that this was part of the main story, so that way we can find more clues about Gaster or Kris. But I would like to believe that this is all about Kris.

I figured he just said it that way because you can basically see his face in his normal portraits too except it's black so the major difference is more that he's white & not just that his hat is off.
given as it’s so blatantly labeled as ‘unused’, the nature of the text itself and knowing what toby is capable of, I’d guess it was never intended to be used in-game but rather is supposed to be an easter egg in the files for you to find and ponder (at least for us just having ch. 1, i imagine it’ll make sense later on).

Maybe Susie would say the unused text while she was running away. If you remember how Susie would talk to you to keep you from exploring the school. Maybe that’s what she would have done in the beginning of the dark world too. Because we see her do it in the school it wouldn’t be to weird to see her do it again.

The placeholder art being shitty makes sense when you look at it from a dev's perspective: what's more important when creating a game, the art or the mechanics? This can vary, but Undertale and Deltarune aren't really known for their incredible art (though I think it's intentionally basic to make the player underestimate the game), so it makes sense that there'd be smiley-face blob Kris to get things up and running first and foremost.
Well its honestly so important to focus on just getting the game to WORK. Art can be changed, but its really hard to figure out what the game will be like unless you can get your vision to work. You won't know if something is entirely out of your skill set or time limitations until you try, which might then result in different art needs.
I guess what I'm saying is, there's no point creating a bunch of completed art unless you know for sure you can implement what it is intended for.

Either way yes Ralsei is a lightener because hes destroying the dark fountain. Darkeners are the people who are protecting the Dark Fountain from Lighteners.

My theory is that maybe there was a Ghost in the Ralsei Dummy.
And if you were originally to hug the dummy instead of Ralsei, the Ghost in the dummy will get triggered, *bLaH bLaH bLaH.*
And then say that line while the Ghost exits the Dummy because it now feels uncomfortable there.
Undertale's demo also had an unused manual. At this point, I think Toby really likes making manuals, but can always find a better way to explain game mechanics through more subtle means, so he just leaves the manual in so we can still read it and everything.

Around 6:41 I thought of a theory that maybe this would’ve been a scrapped mad dummy bossfight similarly to the one seen in undertale. It seems like something Mad dummy would say, yet that’s just speculation.

I think that unused dialogue wasn't going to be used in the closet scene, but in the scene where Kris falls into the darkner world, as the character says"where am i?" And "is anyone there?" Possibly referring to susie's absence in the scene. Also the fact that the character says "it's so dark" refers to that scene, as they are now in the dark world
