- In our 8th episode of FTW we take a look at 2 radical Corvette's. The Greg Thurmond built C2 featuring a Lingenfelter built LS producing 630 hp and a C3 Corvette known as Rambo. Both wide-bodied. Both track prepped and auto cross competitors. Both badass! If you could take one of these which one would you pick and why?

C3, for me, the curves, the colour, and that glorious sound!
My father worked with General Motors and designed these Corvettes, collected and restored these cars…🤓! Sadly, he passed away at age 61 years…

If I had to choose between the two it would be the C3, but with a few small changes, because it would be more of a driver for me. A little more power, more comfortable seats, and a more stock looking C3/C4 wing spoiler.
C3 all day long. The shape will never go out of style.
When I got into autox back in the very early eighties there were a lot of fast C2 and C3 Vettes ripping around the cones in this area (Toronto). Both of these cars bring back memories and make me smile. For me there is no clear winner between these two. I would happily own either one.
Both are incredible and dream cars
My favorite color is green….that being said, Greg’s orange c2 is by far my favorite!

I like the C3 wide body Corvette. The wide body kit is great. No exposed screws or additional plastic pieces were added to the fenders that show the seams between the fenders and the extentions. The fenders are smooth from top to bottom. If the power train is making 410 hp at the tire, it's probably making close to 500 at the engine crank. That's good enough for me. It's horsepower that can actually be used for the street or autocross.
Both cars are great, but 💚 is my favorite body shape.
I would pic Rambo here`s why I built a 1989 red IROC Z28 for auto X LS 3 makes a little over 410 whp 315 B/F Goodrich all 4 corners , nice sound system , It`s a cruzzer But
I mostly race it , Auto X / time lap`s / start stop / Drag . It`s one thing to build a race car It`s another to build a all around driver. :)

Shawn and Greg are my new hero's. First, congratulations on a great shoot. Gregs Stingray with wide tires all around, and the magic he did with it was spectacular. I've watched every GM vehicle you have featured. The one you just did with Gregs Stingray is the only one that literally gave me goosebumps. The genuine remarks you spoke and body language are real.
My two favourite Vettes... C2 & C3. Classic. And yeah to restomods!
Can`t go wrong with either one!

Of course i am late too the party but I dig them both. I am a child of the 50's and got to see the horsepower revolution as it happened. The C-3 has the body stile i like and the C-2 has that beautiful Pearl Orange paint. So i will say i will take them both. LOL
C3 for me, all the way. Had a buddy in grade school was crazy about the C2 when it was introduced. To me...cool but kinda “plain jane”. When I saw a picture of the “Mako Shark” Corvette in a car mag at the time, that was it. That profile is way sexier than any XKE Jag. Was then, is now, my dream car
You are telling nothing but the pure truth. C2 is plain but the shark is on another level of beauty. Great taste 👌.
Im going to pick the C3 on this one. The exhaust and engine tone is awesome. You can really tell the car is a drivers car, as it bumps along the road. Really like this build.

Both these cars,,,as widened as they are......just works of art with a purpose
A dark green hard top C3 with white stripes, full chassis, aluminum 598ci fuel injected BBC with a 6 speed manual. BBK front and rear, really wide 18" BC Forged wheels, 295-315 fronts and 315-335 rears. Black stock like interior.
This one is easy ... both. Only thing I would change? Chrome bumpers. Why both? One for autocross the other for road race. Done.
C3 I grew up in passenger seat of a c3 and c4 zr1 love them
I've seen both these episodes... And damnit I was just as impressed AGAIN. What monsters and the drivers stomping on them as they're made to do. Truly epic builds that are so. well. done.
C2 looks cannot be beat though, the only thing is the color... Swap the colors!

The Orange is for sure better and definitely my choice one or other! But the Green is still Fing awesome and talk about Movie film sound track exhaust note!!! That car is one of the best sounding I ever herd!!

The C3. It's the absolute epitome of what Corvette is.
My ideal...a C2 & a C3, both with 427 ci, 600hp, 600 torque, Tremec Magnum six speed, wide body, C7 chassis, built for race - maybe burgundy and cobalt blue.
I don't care what anybody says. Nothing like a Sick C2. Loved it since birth. Perfect. C3 is badd ass too. Nice track car. But the C2. Ohhh my gosh. 🤑👍❤❤😎😝

AutotopiaLA I choose the C3 my profile picture is the car. I have a 1981. I'm doing a 2004 5.3L LM7/LS with a 2005 4L80E transmission swap shooting for 500hp to the wheel. The paint is going to be snazzberry pearl from the 2022 dodge. I would like you to review it when I'm done it's going to take awhile tho.

WORD OF ADVISE FOR C3 REBUILDS...................................I bought a 1978 twenty fifth anniversery C3 just to upgrade and make into a daily driver. But...... when I got it in my shop I realized it needed work. When I lifted the body off I was absolutely stunned. I could NOT believe that GM passed that frame on down the line to mount an engine in. I had to sand blast it down to shinny metal, re-weld the ENTIRE frame. There were massive gaps in the welds. The welds were shotty, sub-standard and frankly piss poor. CHECK YOUR FRAME if you are going to upgrade. Corvettes at that time had crappy welds in the frame and I'm quite surprised GM didn't have MAJOR recalls for this. I'm going from a 350 with a 4 speed automatic to a 5.7 L cranking out over 450 horses and significant increase in torque so the frame has to be strong enough to handle that.

The C3 has always been my favourite gen of Corvette, with the C7 and C6 as runners up, but I must say that the C2 has enough design character to make it into 4th place, especially when it comes to customising. I especially like the metallic orange one in the vid. As you said though, the less said about the C4 the better...

You can't possibly go wrong...big fan of purpose built especially when they look that good and have some conveniences in them still.
I have always thought the C3 is the sexiest car America ever built !!! But a modified C2 is always insane and the man built The Ultimate version hands down ! But When the C7 came out I honestly feel it's the sexiest Vett since 69 !!! Classic screw Ferrari front engine Beauty !!!

Holy crap those cars are both so sexy. The C2 is my favorite generation but it’s hard to ignore that C3!!! I love purpose built cars. Function always trumps form but if it can look good without sacrificing performance then it’s all that much better.

C3 gets my vote.
We know both cars and their owners. They’re great people - friendly, humble, and a pleasure to be around. I’ve ridden several autocross laps in these two cars, Scar and Rambo, and can confirm that they’re both amazing. However, I’ve always been a C3 guy, so I’m drawn to Rambo and the ‘70s curves, especially with the JCG Customs spoilers. On the other hand, I love the color that Greg put on Scar and like the mechanical mods/additions, like the ABS, the rear suspension, and the fire suppression system. So it’s a toss up for me. Maybe what I really need is a bright orange C3. 🤔
I'm not really into buying new tires every week and I like the C3. Rambo,.
With all due respect… Garrett’s car all day long! It’s for sure one of my favorite builds… looks, functionality… I could go on and on.

That c2 is nuts but I disagree about the c3....that is sexy and aggressive. The c3 when widened can look soooo good. Awesome video, thank you for sharing.

The LSX seems to be quite high- ish revving and almost sounds like a flat plane V8.

If Zora Duntov and Harley Earl could see us now! Love me some Vettes of any Gen, but FTW I gotta pick the C3. As a GenX’er I relate better with them, plus at 6-5 I fit better in a C3! Haa! Great series my man ! Can only give 1 thumbs up, but it’s a 10!

First off, let me say that I would be happy to own either one of these "Bad Ass Corvettes. With that being said, I'm leaning towards the 65 Vette just because Orange is my favorite color 🏁🏁🏁
Both are awesome! My vote would be C2, favorite generation of vette, and amazing engineering. Not to take away from the C3. Keep it up, love this series!

Would go crazy for either one, both are awesome. Hate to pick one over the other - but the 65 would be my first choice. Still love the C3 though, really a beautiful car, and runs like crazy. Great job by both guys...
I will always choose a C3, but I have a lot of personal history with them (even though I'm not yet 40, but close). For me, C3's, C7's, and C6's are the top three corvette generations, in order. Then, C8's, C5's, C1's/C2's, and C4's

Both are amazing machines. If I had to chose, the C3 would be the one for me.
Both such bad ass builds but I would choose Rambo in a heartbeat, it’s more my style
C2. It's just a monster. And I love that sound.
Both are great builds. It's easier to paint the c2 than upgrade the c3 to the c2's performance. Even with equal paint, I too prefer the looks of the c3. If they both had equal paint and mechanical, I'd go with the c3.
I like the C3 it would have been nice to have a little more shake down like you gave the C2.
