Some of the younger guys are into the "German, Italian and British" supercars with all the high tech gizmos. If they only knew how great these C-3's really are. I've had my 1969 L-71 427/435 Corvette for 55 years. I'm 77 years old and still drive it at least four days a week. The motor has 185k and is still going strong. No cheap electronic relays, sensors, solenoids or any failing parts to go wrong. The car still looks like a car for the public roads and not a race car for the track. Whenever I pull into a gas station, somebody comes over and wants to talk about the car. That's been going on for almost ten years!! So, say what you want about those "supercars", there is really nothing that matches the fun you have driving an old Corvette. Just look at the car in this video. The body style is timeless. It's beautiful. It's great to have a lot of choices but I still choose my '69 all day long.
I tell myself I’m not that much of a Corvette guy, then I see something like this and go all weak in the knees. I guess I’m a Corvette guy after all! This is incredible; a total bad to the bone beast. Loud, rude, nasty, perfect. You can tell it begs to be driven hard. I love it.
You are killing me! My second car was a '72 Stingray, and I drove the wheels off that sucker. Over 100K when it got wrecked (By my Sister). Absolutely killer build. Maybe someday I'll come back around for another one, more like this one!
I've had my 75 Vette for 11 years now semi souped up... but now I was thinking about selling it but I just thought again, I'm souping that baby back up! all the way!
Like the new intro. Damn what a car and thanks Sean for looking at the chasis and suspension as well. What a trick setup! The car has so much rubber on it that it just sticks to the road. Can't wait for the next episode!
I see that blue fbody, partial to that year cause I had a 92. So glad Detroit speed makes parts for it. Seen that one on Hoonigan before. Can't wait for that episode guys. This year corvette is kinda slept on but I remember the stingray from the Corvette Summer movie. Not everybody updates it right, but Detroit Speed once again...
Been in absolute LOVE with the C-3 my entire life. I was born in '72 so they hold a special place. Growing, up a neighbor had a '78 Pace Car so that had an influence but the ONE that kicked me in the teeth was a beat to hell Burgundy '76. Wasn't built. Had a couple of chunks missing along the bottom. It had been driven hard and put away wet more times than you could count. Don't know if it was just the potential I saw or my love of underdogs but I have wanted a '76 ever since. Not a '75. Not a '77. Gotta be a '76.
The C3 set the basic shape of Corvettes to come right up to the C7. And that's the way it should have stayed. You don't see Porsche messing with the basic shape of the 911.
Yeah I've heard this argument before, but like the man said more power available now than ever "easily rectified". Also some meaty 18' to 20's to fit in those ginormous tubs
i do not understand how your videos do not get million views ? such great cars and delivery is perfect . Thank you for so many wonderful dreams on wheels
This is EXACTLY what I’m planning on doing with a c3 once I get my engineering degree and have some income flowing in, except I’m going to be going for 650-700 hp with a custom aero kit, and possibly a custom chassis
Arguably, the most vicious 'Vettes are the '67, '68, and '69 L88 Vettes. This one pays homage to them with the hood scoop and flares, and with a somewhat simple small-block out muscles the L88 as well. Nice to see no turbo or blower.
Any guy who tells you he's never dreamed of a Corvette is a liar and a damn poor one. The sound of the engine will turn the mildest fellow into a meat-eater.
I grew up working on a 1960 C1 Corvette Conv’t with a 327 swapped in, im hunting for an early 70s C3 now to do a similar build to this except an 454LSX with ITB’s
Legend has it.. this c3 helps rotate the earth🤘🤪 BITCHIN vette this thing is top notch.. some day my 75 will get that deca link and quick ratio rack.. this cars done rite 👍👍
Very cool C3... I've been itching to build a C3 for a long time, but always something else comes first so for now it's on the back burner, but this one is very close that what I want to do... Thanks for the video
Hummm y love it the corvette c3 in france the opel 1900 gt is mini corvette no serious one opel 1900 gt Just one v6 + one vauxhall turbo ho twin turbo is the big bomb in c3 mini the très look one opel 1900 gt dude
There's is nothing I don't like about this 'Vette. I understand & respect that it's a test car, but I'm pretty sure I could fit a bag or two of groceries in there...

The early C3s are the most gorgeous cars ever made, no matter what you do to them.🇺🇸
They are truly beautiful cars
Couldnt agree more...the earlier the better ... especially with bumpers at both ends
@@JK-g62 Now that's a true statement. They just have this European style yet American muscle to them, the chrome bumpers 72 and back.
I couldn't agree more. It' my absolute dream car. (Ideally with big block and side exhaust😍)
@@vasacermak1 👍 They have a Ferrari look but better.🇺🇸

Same for me all the way

Bummer about yours being wrecked!
Eric Dolan do you still love your sister the same !?🤔 haha
@@zxJC34xz First question out of my mouth, "Is She okay?" I loved the car, but obviously Family is more important.
Eric Dolan obviously brotha haha I was just giving ya a hard time ..
Bad ass raw car, it doesn’t do anything quiet, I love it😂
Can’t wait to see the blue camaro, love Detroit Speed stuff.
It’s not quiet at anything and I love it!! Can’t wait to show you more from DSE
A Corvette with a red, white, and blue livery! What's not to love? Murica!
Same thoughts here 🇺🇸
Beautiful car. I once had a 69. Now looking for C3 to build up. Love the body lines and character of the C3 most of all.
I'm so excited to see all these Detroit speed videos. Always a big fan.
Can’t wait to show them. Especially our day at Charlotte Motor Speedway!!
I’ve always been a Corvette fan since I was a kid!, love this C3, sounds a looks amassing,
Killing it Shawn! Think you hit a goldmine over at Detroit Speed. Can't wait to restore my '72 one day. Enjoy!
I've had my 75 Vette for 11 years now semi souped up... but now I was thinking about selling it but I just thought again, I'm souping that baby back up! all the way!
Goldmine first sure! Wait til you see the next few we did with them especially the track day!!
Like the new intro. Damn what a car and thanks Sean for looking at the chasis and suspension as well. What a trick setup! The car has so much rubber on it that it just sticks to the road. Can't wait for the next episode!
It sticks like crazy! What a great build and that sound!! Awesome

DSE nails it with building drivers that look great but all about the drive and performance
Well said. Any Resto-mod for me would have to start with them

Can’t beat the natural sounds of an NA motor.
That’s the truth!
You haven’t heard my LS on itb’s. 👌🏻
@@hoonaticbloggs5402 Sounds so good, never heard a LS with itb's on
Supercharged engines though 😬NA with a power adder with more noises 😇
everyone hates the c3 but it's my favorite corvette. The best looking one.
No, everyone hates the c4
I dont know anybody that hates the c3, but I do know a lot of guys that dont like the c4.
The C3 set the basic shape of Corvettes to come right up to the C7. And that's the way it should have stayed. You don't see Porsche messing with the basic shape of the 911.
Who the hell told you that? No one "hates the C3." Like everything else horsepower just went to shit after 1974 and that's easily rectified.
Yeah I've heard this argument before, but like the man said more power available now than ever "easily rectified". Also some meaty 18' to 20's to fit in those ginormous tubs

That's one badass Vette.
Seriously badass
I love these old cars. Dudes breathing new life into classic old cars.
New muscle cars are cool but these old cars are timeless. 🤘🏻
that first pull away, your reaction is priceless!!!!!
Spinning tires and tracking straight blew me away
This is EXACTLY what I’m planning on doing with a c3 once I get my engineering degree and have some income flowing in, except I’m going to be going for 650-700 hp with a custom aero kit, and possibly a custom chassis
this Corvette knows how to win the hearts of motorists
Sure does. Made me fall in love instantly

Thanks for the sub! DSE just gets it and does it right all the way
thats the best looking corvette i have ever seen in my life..

This made me a bigger fan of the Corvette family
🥓🥓🥓🥓👀👀 those are Corvette bacon burnouts!!
The cars that DS builds are on another level. Show and go. At lsfest now looking to see what they brought.
They build pure driver cars all the way
I LOVE the wide body on this corvette, usually don't like widebodies
Also, review the DSE-Z camaro at 0:48!
I grew up working on a 1960 C1 Corvette Conv’t with a 327 swapped in, im hunting for an early 70s C3 now to do a similar build to this except an 454LSX with ITB’s

Shawn you scared the s*** out of Alex He was not confortable dude But who cares You seemed to enjoy it Great C3 love the car
He looked nervous for sure 😂
..that car would definitely put a smile on your face when driving.
The BF Goodrich radial challenge that featured stock street model cars on street tyres in the 1970s was a fantastic race series.
Evil kenevil on 4 wheels

that hesitation between shifts must be really annoying when driving. but the livery is so spot on for this car.
If I wasn’t using the clutch it would bang through gears with that dogbox trans
So much refined Muscle
Exactly. Mean but refined. Pure drivers car

I can only hope my LS swap sounds something like this! What cold air intake is that? I have been trying to find one that is a good fit for my c3.
How much would it cost to
Get this exact setup in a c3? Is this car for sale?
Check with Detroit Speed on pricing

Why was the clutch "bouncing" like that on (gentle?) Shifts ?

Amazing
Definitely an amazing car. The sounds and the drive...awesome!!
@@AutotopiaLA That's my kind of ride
How much did it cost to build that car how much is just the rear end setup
Does anyone know where he got that exhaust or is it just custom
Have you had it on a sports car road racing track?
I think I am in love
What kind of transmission is that?
Superbe corvette top 👍😍 Gérard France 🏁🇫🇷🇱🇷
What transmission is in this car
Had a Hot wheels that had that kind of paint scheme I think the model in the Hot Wheels is a 76
I'd buy it if it had a sequential with paddle shift.
