I fished the square patch area and deep tempest for 20 years. Couple a tips for ya. Find a 9/0 Penn handle. It will plug n play. Makes winding so much easier
2. When you hut the bottom using the 6/0 Penn.
( my favourite ) thumb your lime to one side for 10 winds. Next time you drop, watch your line. Whrn it stays straight stop the drop. .
3. We used no more than an 8 or a 10 ball sinker. Good sounder work. Look from the bottom up. Not the top down. Divide your vertical pixels into your depth. It will tell you how bog your fish are. Gr8 vid mate. Bought back memories. I knew John and Dean for many years. Used to bring Dean Macas when we were going out. . Snapper will rise and take a bait. That run is awesome. We never fished a cup up moon. Always cup tip and over . That banito is gr8 snapper bait.
tip 4. Hold ya bait in ya hand. drop ya sinker. Bout 1/4 the way down. Then throw ya bait over. And hang on. 😁
Thanks heaps mate! Cheers for the extra tips! They are good fellas 🎣🍻
@_OuterLine if you want a good snapper spot around oct nov. Let me know. All you have to know is where the flathead spawn. 🤔 I caught quality snapper there while cleaning fish. 😅 . And if you can fish with no lead in shallow it is wayyyyy better. But there is nothing like that run a snapper gives you in the deep. We love it
Sounds like a lot of experience in that comment Davi. Thanks for the tips 👍
Mate this is one of the most informative honest videos that actually explains from start to finish on how to catch Snapper! Have definitely changed my mind on mono and snapper fishing! Awesome bud!
Cheers mate! I’ll probably cop my fair share of flack for it, but everyone deserves the right to a good days fishing! 😂😂
I’d love to see you and sezzie do this exact episode again but one reel has braid and you use the mono again. Just to compare results. Cheers
Yup same! Keen as for that, if I beat here then you know it’s good 😂
Wow very much appreciated this video👌🏽 thanx heaps
Your very welcome mate
Great vid mate. I subbed... Thank you... and thanks Deano 👍🎣👏🍻
Thanks heaps, mate. We appreciate it, and I’ll pass on the message.
Cool Ep and fish nice work. As a ex pro fisherman that targeted snapper for around 20 years strait Braid has been band on all my boats and still is, Great in deep water but. I loved catching Snapper we never ate the bigger ones very overrated eating wise big snapper I recon.
Thanks heaps legend!
one of your best videos... well done sir
Live your videos but this one was the most informative ones yet. Thank you so much for sharing. Love your channel keep up the awesome work 🙏👌😊
No worries mate
I been fishing for snapper like this for years the only thing i would change if i was you is to use a higher speed overhead to take up the slack. I use a shimano torium 16 and 20
very informative.I have learned a lot from this ep
Thanks heaps mate !!
Great video man those fish are bloody unreal. Thanks for the tips and tricks it’s always appreciated, never not learning!
Thanks heaps mate! And your welcome
thanks for the tips.so genuine cheers
No problems mate thanks for your message
thanks for sharing ,good feed there mate
Thanks heaps mate !
I was part of the crew back In the day. Your set up is spot on.however, add a 9/0 handle to you Penn. You will love the difference. We fished with a 8 ball or lighter. And yes 45 ° is a no go. I loved square patch. My honey hole. Ahhh the memories of the 85cm . When they take it on the way down. Itsssss show time....
Awesome video Mate that brings back awesome memories from 1992-3-4 years I don’t get out that far anymore, but that vid was amazing Cheers Tony
Thanks heaps mate!!
Great video mate, going to put all this to the test here in New Zealand tomorrow and see what happens. I’ve always been a braid fisherman and have caught snapper with braid but it would be good to compare.
What about if you did a video and compete against a braid fisher to your now favoured Mono as an episode for us and see how that works against each other?
Keep up the good work I really enjoyed this video about to watch it for the second time.
Nice snapper, thanks for the tips and thanks Deano
Thanks for the info. Impressive.
Great tips gotta love hot tackle best serice ever.
Very well put together mate. Well done.
Thanks a lot mate !
Great video! Appreciate seeing what’s on your sounder 👌🏼🍻
Thanks mate, sounder set up is very important
Thanks for all the tips...
Mid winter now in Newcastle, we've been chasing some Snaps these last few weeks.
I'm certainly going to give this a go next outing
Cheers for Sharing
Learnt so much on this vid & in the comments
Stevo
So many people talk about this and expecially this video. I run a long top shot on my braid and never had issues catching fish. Normally 1 rod length is the standard, i run a over +5m. Usally start the day with 10m and end up with 5m if i lose a few rigs.
Great show old mate I live in Coffs Harbour ive been stray lining for snapper for years now my favourite weapon of choice is a Alvey side cast reel the line has no problem peeling off the reel works great
Oh yeah Alvey would be great also!
Another good show buddy. John Pope from Scarborough is probably worth looking up mate. Not just a world class rod builder but designed, manufactured and tests a lot of the blanks he builds. (black killing sticks ) South East Queensland snapper GOD!
Great value going back to Mono was that the pin bar you went through?
Also what gauge mono were you using? Cheers loving the channel mate fish the bay alot but keen to get offshore
South passage bar mate. 40lb mono 👌🏻
Thanks heaps for the nice message 😊
God bless you for speaking the truth!!!
Some great info shared, thanks mate
Your welcome mate
What a Stella day on the water. Glassy as
❤ fantastic video mate. Great information and I can't wait to get offshore to try this.
I love that you take the time to show the fish finder and teach. Thanks so much! Question, what brand and pound test mono are you using here?
Thanks heaps mate, 40lb
Jack the fish monger😉. Another awesome session boys.
I’ve been inspired, pounded some Boxing Day sales and am now setup with a nice little overhead and some 30lb mono. See how we go in a couple weeks when I can get out with one of the lads again
Merry Christmas keep the wicked vids coming 🎄
Braid with a super long leader for me minimum 20 mts in , when you’ve been doing everything your saying I’ve been on the ball for years so no worries . Fish plastics the same as floating a pea sinker dead slimie some days it’s bait some days it’s the plastic . Burly some days can’t be discounted that’s for sure every day is different . Good vid
Once you sound around just tie a normal snapper lead on drop down hit bottom then tie a rubber band on as a depth guide. So when you do start floating the bait back you know how much you have out
Awesome video, now to wait for a weather window for the 4.5m tinnie to make it out there 😂
Get stuck in mate !
Good video mate cheers for the info, will help where I am
I am Norwegian so i dont know anything about bag limit in the sea meaning it's interesting to see all the work you have to do in order to get a few dinners.
Really awesome Snapper!
.......buy please refrain from saying omg!
Ok cheers !
Nice work cobs. 😊. Deano does know his stuff ay. As they say mate. Never too old to learn.
That’s it mate, never to old to learn
Great video, just moved to Strathpine from Perth. Will definitely use this info. I had trouble catching s feed in Cairns, so a little concerned down this way 😂
Thanks heaps mate !!
In New Zealand snapper are with few exceptions on the bottom, except in workups obviously
Great Vid! Well done.
That was awesome man 👌
Thanks heaps mate !
great video mate
Thanks mate !
Excellent Video , Much Appreciated. May have missed the info , but what was the breaking strain of the mono . You were the King of the water on a Fantastic day. Enjoy.
Braid is only good for lures. Mono for bait or live baiting. Also a fibreglass rod over carbon for bait fishing.
What type of bait or lure should i use for snapper pier fishing
Hey boss. I hear it decreases the fish survival rate when you put your hand in its gills. At least most of us live by here in NZ.
Awesome video. Will definitely be trying these techniques :D Cheers
i want to call them your game changer
Excellent information. I have always used mono in PPB on the Snapper. Looking for single large fish on the sounder is the way to go. Can you share what blank the rod is built on please?
Bonito is my absolute favourite sashimi... but one fish that's hardly look at as sashimi is the humble yakka .. if you ever catch a decent size I would recommend for you to try it... you will be surprised how great they taste as sashimi..
Will do mate! We get them pretty big around here actually sometimes
Stop stop stop your killing me Smalls
Great tips got to give it a try down south now
Cheers
Hi mate, great vid and nice quality snapper!
Just wondering what model senator your using? They've re-released the senator so i was hoping you could post the model number on yours as there are so many models.... also what length and line weight rod are you using?
Thanks mate
Hey mate, recently I purchased a Saltist lw 50hb overhead and a Daiwa beef stick 7” rod from Hot Tackle, 40 pound Daiwa mono and I cut the level wind off, it’s bloody awesome and a lot lighter to use.
That's a great idea! thanks for the tip mate. The beef stik is a 10kg rod?
Great episode buddy, heaps of good info. Looks like I’ll be spooling up some mono
Haha thanks mate ! Get into em!
My fave video by far, Adam! I learnt so much 😊 when can we buy those hats!?
You hit the nail on the head as a nother x pro always keep is simple a good robust penn sen 4/0 looked after will give you years of service . The ball sinker ubove the hooks will un snag easy if you jiggle it like a tea bag great vid and good fish your freand taut you well
Cheers mate !
Great information, cracking video edit and cracking fish. Well done mare. Can I ask - what size gangs were they (look 4/0 ish)?
Cheers mate yeah they were size 5
Excellent video!
Awesome
Thanks mate !
Thanks for the great tips. I presume they will work on the West coast.
Bloody brilliant.
Cheers !
Sick fishing mate thanks for some good tips definitely give this a go next time we are out cheers
two hooked crew 👌
Cheers mate! Hook in
By anychance would you be able to do a video on your furuno settings that would be sick
No problems at all mate! I do run through setting etc in videos, so keep an eye out or have a watch at a few more and you’ll see them!
Adam, I love a scientific approach, so have to consider other variables.
What about using braid with a 10+m leader? What about fluoro instead of mono?
How would you adapt this approach for the singular larger fish using jigs or plastics?
To be honest mate I have always used braid with a 10m leader. And never caught fish like this method does, it’s that effective I was in 2 minds wether to release it, but the bag limits are tight and everyone deserves the best shot at getting a good feed of fish. So I did.
Great vid there Fella, great few tips with sounder of which I will put to good use next time I go out, what size mono did you put on?
woohoo
Thanks heaps mate appreciate it! I use 40lb mono
When you break mono to unsnag it it will stretch to the point of becoming useless. Braid will last years longer than mono . Also there is no difference between the two when it comes to catch numbers
Ohhh I dunno, still a few tests to run yet!
Nice vid. I have caught way more fish in North Queensland on hand lines than braid. Pros showed me and never turned back. Rods for fun, mono to feed the fam. Merry Xmas
100% mate! Cheers right back at ya!
What pound line did you use cheers liked the vid
Awesome episode mate one of your best 👌🏼
Thanks heaps mate!! Appreciate it 😊
Great video with so much amazing information. May i ask what pound braid are you using?
Awesome vid, I will be fishing with mono from here onwards, I just have one question, how many pounds is your mono please
Hi mate, it’s 40lb
Another awesome ep mate keep them coming
Thanks mate !
That explains why mono outfishes braid on my boat 😂, what transducer u running with the furono?
Hey mate, it’s a 200B 8B, 2kw high frequency…absolute weapon I love it
Thanks, got some new thing to try here in the BOP NZ .. ? What size hooks?
5’0
Hi mate, did you run a leader to the hooks or straight mono?
And what lb mono did you have?
Thanks!
Thanks mate !!
Awesome vid, what lbs mono was it? And no leader just straight to a swivel then hooks?
Great episode Adam
What mono and leader sizes were you using mate??
40 mate
I fish braid. Started fishing for snapper offshore (plastics only) about a month ago.
Caught 72, 78 and a 91 yesterday. All on braid to fluro.
Can't complain the fishing in your area is bad then say your mate takes 250kg of snapper a trip even if it's commerical lol
Not sure where you got 250kgs from 😂
And I didn’t say it’s bad…I said it’s difficult. There’s a big difference
@@_OuterLine 2 minutes into your own video.....220 kilos sorry.
Great informative video mate, as an x pro, we only used mono, and always got the fish, always look forward to seeing the next one👍 Merry Christmas to you and the family 👪
Thanks heaps and Merry Xmas to you to mate
Awesome vid guys as usual. Keep up the good work. You inspire me to get the family out there and having a go. Thanks heaps. Merry Christmas and happy new year.
That’s what our Channel and the Outer Line brand is all about mate. Thanks heaps
And thank you guys for the time and effort you guys put into this. It puts a big smile on our face. 🤙
The old mono/braid debate. I know a pro who only uses mono as well, I fish with braid but use a 5 to 10 meter mono leader.
Now tell me more about that sun shirt you're wearing.
Great tips mate. Do you use a swivel on the main line or just run the ball straight onto the gangs?? Cheers Bob.
Awesome trip mate and merry Christmas
Thanks heap mate!! To you to 🎣🍻
Do you only fish one rod in hand or another in a rod holder. Looks like you don't really strike?
Just 1 rod mate, and no I don’t really strike, nice whippy rod and that does the work.
Top vid, wat transducer are you running with the 295?
Cheers mate, it’s a 200B 8B
@@_OuterLine in some sort of fairing? Transom mount?
I think we all know that. That's why it's used lure fishing.
Do you use braid bait fishing at all?
I do mate 😊
@@_OuterLinebut not on Snapper. Curious.
Jesus...pretty impressive 🤟
Thanks mate !
Awesome work. What size line ? Also rod size?
Thanks mate 40lb
Another tip is use two rods .When the line angle gets out close to too far cast the second rod out up current and get it going down in rod holder as your winding up.Cheers
Absolutely! 100% agree
What size mono are you using? TIA.
I like it
Thanks mate !
Adam what pound mono was that ?
40lb mate 👌🏻
Hey mate, what size Senator is that.
Hey mate it’s a 4/0
Best video and info to date, what line class and are you using any leader?
Cheers mate!!! No leader, 40lb
Nice vid! How about backing up on your line so you dont get to that wide angle?
Usually do mate but you want that natural drift of the boat.
Great vid, thanks for the tips. How heavy was the mono you were using?
Cheers! 40lb mate
Did u keep the big snapper
Sure did mate.
