Hi Ivan! This SOP, while great, I find doesn’t really connect the introduction piece on disability and their immunology/cancer research interest. Even though they did state that they want to get involved in disability-related extracurricular programs during their time, from a technical standpoint, their experience connects more with developmental/genetic research compared to immunology/cancer biotech research. Would this have had a negative impact on the strength of their application? Thank you in advance!
I would have to go back and reread the SOP, but if I remember correctly they did connect disabilities with their targeted program. Moreover, they were accepted into this program so I would assume that what they wrote was a suitable question/topic for the field.
I personally wouldn’t enroll in an online graduate program because you will learn more from outside the classroom activities. I went to Harvard for my masters and I learned the most from my peers when we had conversations outside of the classroom. I built my network outside of the classroom. It’s possible to do this in an online course but it can be more difficult. In terms of the curriculum, it’s most likely going to be amazing and the brand will definitely open up opportunities for you in the job market. It all depends on what type of experience you want to have and if you think it is worth it.
give me advice for my situation : I cant travel and study aboard this is my dream to study in good university and have higher degree. is this master degrees in Stanford university is recognized and accepted by companies and another universities@@IvanValdovinosGradSchool
If you are talking about general writing improvement, then I would say that reading and writing is the best way to improve. Taking English composition classes are also useful. I was an English major as an undergrad so that helped me better understand how to write professionally.
