Jamie Janita that’s really expensive, I mean you can’t be living with room mates your whole life and I live in Dubai another big city where you could get apartments like a studio bedroom for yourself for 6000 dollars per year.
Casey Saibo One thing I've learned about a lot of New Yorkers (definitely not me), they're more concerned with living in the the main city than having their own spacious apartment for a sane price OUTSIDE the city. Now, the prices have skyrocketed in Manhattan and city dwellers are running to Brooklyn and Harlem. They can't afford to live in the main city now. They could have cemented a home or two outside the city instead of paying all that rent for a measly apartment and now they are renting where they could've had ownership. I'm laughing so hard.
How it is a scam? They're happy there and paying what they're ok paying. They weren't scammed. Considering the location and size it's probably $2 million to buy it as a condo
@@Cynnas I think they meant that the landlord-tenant dynamic is a scam in general. Landlords dont provide any value to society, they are leeches. Housing should be free for all.

What you really mean is YOU want free housing, because you're too damn lazy to stand on your own two feet.
This home could easily be worth more than 2mil. You rent based on the home's value, and this home is worth an absolute shit ton. The landlord didn't pay like 500k for this place. Plus his property tax is massive because the home is huge
The Loner Millionaire but people don’t want Indiana. They want opportunities and connections for fucks sake. The city is their playground and they probably rarely stay indoors. This is crazy to me as I’ve lived most of my life in Houston. I pay $1,400/ month for a 1,100 sq. ft open concept 2 bedroom apartment in a gated complex that includes a private garage, a community pool, running trail, and a dog park, a community club house, some grilling areas. There’s a community pond, there’s also a gym and there’s private security patrolling the area at night. Not to slam on people and if inner city living is your thing that’s cool.... I just don’t get why people are willing to pay so much for so little where as you can move and have a better standard of living.
I am not American but see from videos etc that rents in New York are akin to those in London... for loads of reasons we have to accept that people have to / want to live in these cities otherwise they would be empty... we all know that we can find cheaper flats / houses in other areas of the country .. but we don,t all want to live in other parts... boasting about your cheaper rent elsewhere doesn,t change the situation. People in high rent areas accept it and get on with it... l personally love all these NY flats..
Where people go money goes, if heaps of people started moving out the landlords and developers in those areas like where you stay for instance would hike their prices.
This was awesome man! As a New Yorker myself I've hoped to have a place like that someday. It's perfect. Especially the secret backyard is so dope. It's so grunge and so NY

You think the hidden backyard is dope.... He's paying 72k a year to rent... that means he will never get that money back. Outside of the city 72k-200k will buy you 100plus acres where you can truly do whatever you want. I'm so done with the city where neighbors don't mind their own business and someone is always keeping an eye on you... aka all those cameras every step you take. Materialism will lead you into some pretty crappy situations and a total lack of privacy.

There is a big difference between living with flatmates student style and living with flatmates later in life as adults. If the apartment is not a party home and you live together with people you like and respect and you have common ground on what is ok and what isn't, it can be pleasurable.
Liene Yes 100% this. I don’t see why it’s such an unconceivable concept to prefer roommates. No shade but I just feel a bit uneasy and sad after watching this video.
I’m not sure where exactly he said that he everyone needs to live like him? He simply said that *he* prefers living with roommates in NYC- not that everyone needs to mirror his lifestyle. As a TH-camr, living in NYC, probably is an investment into his career. I think it’s clear that you don’t really approve of his lifestyle. Why not be honest about it then trying to fake being non-judgmental?

The Internet connection often downloads at 94 mps. We're a half hour drive from the ocean, an hour from San Francisco. I've been to NY.

Am I the only one who does not find this affordable!
I'm with you. Mad money.
Casey Saibo It's affordable as long as you have roommates. Otherwise, you're better off with a mortgage.
Casey Saibo that’s because it’s not
Jamie Janita that’s really expensive, I mean you can’t be living with room mates your whole life and I live in Dubai another big city where you could get apartments like a studio bedroom for yourself for 6000 dollars per year.
Y’all lived there for SIX years and paid that landlord $432,000 omg 😱 I need the landlord to make a video how to scam like this 😩😂
How it is a scam? They're happy there and paying what they're ok paying. They weren't scammed. Considering the location and size it's probably $2 million to buy it as a condo
property taxes are probably like 30k a year for the landlord, maybe more
@@Cynnas I think they meant that the landlord-tenant dynamic is a scam in general. Landlords dont provide any value to society, they are leeches. Housing should be free for all.
@@thestever If you don't live in New York, you definitely should with that socialist attitude. Housing free for all? There is no such thing as free. If it's free for you that's only because someone else has to pay. Perhaps a math refresher would serve you well.
I don’t understand why everyone is so negative, just enjoy seeing how other people live than critiquing everything.
They hating from outside the club cus they can’t even get in
You just critiqed every one else and it was a negative comment.
The Loner Millionaire but people don’t want Indiana. They want opportunities and connections for fucks sake. The city is their playground and they probably rarely stay indoors. They can even choose to move outer boroughs if space is an issue. Also living in a mansion is overrated. I lived in large house outer borough queens and it became a lot of work to dig snow, clean all the rooms etc
As a New Yorker I think I have every and any right to criticize. We have grown ass adults not able to pay rent because it's too fucking expensive so the only solutions is to get roommates and of you don't know anyone and have social anxiety it's even worse. In my two years living like this I've had every roommate up and leave because we're basically living in a slum. I swear only people not here are excited about this shit
@@WokOverEasy hell I would love to live anywhere else. I just don't drive and can't do my job in another state also I need my Caribbean community. A lot of people in NY don't want to be here
This is crazy to me as I’ve lived most of my life in Houston.
It's NYC baby!!
Damn I'll take that apt Alex for 1400 lol
I am not American but see from videos etc that rents in New York are akin to those in London... for loads of reasons we have to accept that people have to / want to live in these cities otherwise they would be empty... we all know that we can find cheaper flats / houses in other areas of the country .. but we don,t all want to live in other parts... boasting about your cheaper rent elsewhere doesn,t change the situation. People in high rent areas accept it and get on with it... l personally love all these NY flats..
Rita Rewards as a former New Yorker I will say the city is a shithole
Where people go money goes, if heaps of people started moving out the landlords and developers in those areas like where you stay for instance would hike their prices.

Question im not from New York but how much would a person pay for a 1200 to 1400 squarefoot apartment?
Right
For two main reasons -
1. You don't want to live alone, it is boring and exhausting.
2. Pay less money to live in a nicer area.
I had that same mindset but as soon as I'm out of college I'm either moving in with my future currently-non-existing girlfriend or guy roommates
