Man, just watched your "Living in NYC: Expectations VS Reality" and it was the first video I watched of yours and what an unbelievable glow up you had with content creating, apartment etc.!!
Feel like you're the only person I've ever seen talk about living in NYC in a positive light. That shot drinking coffee on the balcony made me see a bit of the appeal again. I used to dream about living in the city growing up and seeing it romanticized in movies and shows. And then, you hear about all of the trash, pests, cost, subway horror stories, and lose that dream. Figure that you're better off staying in your little uncrowded pocket of suburbia, living a safe and comfortable existence instead of one that might push you to grow and do more.
Living in cities definitely has its perks, life can be definitely more exciting than in the suburbs. However, it's quite hard to choose exactly where you will live because life comes with various constraints.
That is an amazing apartment, Brett! You are so handy, too, making that dining table, desk, and all them shelves. And that table will be great for them morning cups of coffee in the Winter when it’ll be too cold to even think about going on the balcony. I love the space, and them views are the best! And for $1250 a person….that is literally a steal for NYC!
You made a smart long-term decision that will make it easier for you to purchase a property in the future. Also, that was not a bad apartment, and splitting the cost helped even more.
- Definitely need more videos on buying apartments in NYC, would love to do the same! - How do you find an apartment these days when the market has boomed back?
It’s $1,250 for Brett’s portion of the rent alone. The whole 1-bedroom apartment is actually over $2000. Brett mentioned this in the original video when he found this apartment. They built a wall to create a 2nd bedroom (Gabe’s room) which is why their living room is so small.
The sad reality is that the entire apartment should really cost that amount because the typical New Yorker does not make over 75K a year required to afford it.
It looks very cozy. It's perfect for those who lead a not-so-hectic lifestyle. I love apartments with good city views, but I like them even more if I can enjoy them from a good balcony. I recently bought a Flag Halyard Chair from Barcelona Designs to use often on my small balcony but haven't really had much time to use it x'D. Thanks for the tour! :D
nyc is crazy expensive and you'll need a roommate for sure. his portion alone is 1250 meaning that apartment is actually $2500 for a 1 bed which is why they had to build a second bedroom

But it is so exciting to live here in New York City. I have a T-shirt that says "New York or Nowhere." That is how I feel, after moving here from Los Angeles two years ago.
In a moment in the video he said $1250 for “my room” so that makes me think the real price for the whole apartment is higher if not the double of $1250! The unit is delightful plus the awesome views.. definitely not that cheap in my honest opinion!

Maybe you weren't trying to be a minimalist but love the minimalism! Makes me wonder why I have so much stuff. Also if your room gets hot you can save money on AC by getting anti-heat window film.
Holy shit I just stumbled across this; I'm a West-Coaster with a townhouse in SoCal and I'm closing on an apartment in Hawaii this month, but I always assumed that literally _any_ property in somewhere super-bougie like Manhattan would just cost about $1Million+ at a minimum, from the way I always hear people talking about it. I jumped on Zillow and was _shocked_ to see you can buy surprisingly _nice_ 2bed/1bath places for like $299K+! Crazy. I had no idea it was so affordable. I couldn't personally live there myself because of an irritating thing called "winter" which I hate (I can't live without palm trees and sunshine), but that is a very nice apartment in the video!
There are no 2BRs in Manhattan for $299K. You most likely saw a land leased coop, where you're buying the apartment itself, but renting the land that it's on. You could be paying thousands of dollars in monthly fees for the land lease in addition to your $299K mortgage. Also, the pandemic brought rents in Manhattan down a lot with people moving out. Landlords had tons of empty apartments and were offering huge discounts. However, rents have already gone up to almost pre-pandemic levels, and you couldn't rent an apartment like the one in this video now for what he's paying.
@@MattSezer Ah, crap. So I guess my original impression was correct then. Well that's disappointing but not surprising, I guess. Also I thought that whole "land lease/leasehold" scammy bullshit was only in Hawaii (I've had to jump through hoops to avoid it while buying a place on Oahu); I didn't realize they did it in other places too. That sucks :/ Man the housing situation in the US is absolute garbage right now. I guess _somebody's_ getting rich off of it.

People who give up in life are people who lose in life, my first experience happens to be a failure but I never gave up cause I knew it was going to work out for me tryings fortunately I'm smiling today by getting involved in investment.
@James Boden
Yeah
Investing in crypto currency is so lucrative.
often times we just look for what to invest in and usually encounter these problem. It's either the money is too huge for what I want to invest or it could require more than expected.
She's really amazing I still can't believe someone can be this exceptional when it comes to Bitcoin activities
Wow I'm just shocked to see someone else mentioning and recommending Mrs Catalina, I thought people don't know her, she's really awesome!
Trading with her is awesome she has managed my investment so well and my weekly returns is mind blowing.
Is this a good price for New York? Compared to Thailand this is so expensive!
A someone who is planing live near the Kremlin, I must say flats in Moscow can be way expensive.I think the difference between NY & Moscow is the safety. That’s a concern for many tourist these days.Very informative Brett
I know this building, I think you got a terrific deal compared to the typical apartment rent in this building. The sun and view are just so great, and I assume the view at night is great too. good location. Also, that back flip was epic. Much respect on the videography.
neighborhood name please?
Yeah what is the name?
want to know too
That's a dope apartment. I dream to do this one day
wish these "i pay only XYZ" for apartment videos were more upfront about the "how".
So the actual cost for this apartment is $2400/mo, right?
Which is still impossibility cheap. Something is up....
@@smithtown00 yeah, Im not buying it. There is no way that apartment is that cheap.
@@antennatrees I'm from NY. It would even be cheap for a studio in that area. Extremely lame to act like this rent is normal and not explain the circumstances.
This price (US$ 1.250) it is equivalent of R$ 6.584,75 that is the money in Brasil in directly conversion today (09/10/21). The minimum income in Brasil is R$ 1.045. This make the apartment costs more than 6 times the minimum income, that is a lot for us, but I understand that because of the location and the size is almost cheap for an north american person
Almost cheap? This is a steal in Manhattan. In other parts of the us, it would be expensive tho for the size. But for the location and quality it’s probably the cheapest thing there
a legend
You post so much useful info! Love it! Thank you!
The handcuffs though
Nice video Dude. I know the area. I've been there!
Hopefully I will able to get an apartment like that soon.
Nice view, although I'll probably need a bigger kitchen.
And really nice view, perfect to start the day with the right mood!
I bless your luck!
