    this is hands down one of the nicest apartments in NYC I’ve ever seen. and for $1250? that’s damn near impossible for a 2 bedroom. would kill to have a spot like this! great neighborhood, amazing views, balconies, rooftop, nice sized bedrooms, spacious living room, closet space, full kitchen with microwave (small, but whatever). what more could you ask for for the price?? In Manhattan nonetheless??

    Feel like you're the only person I've ever seen talk about living in NYC in a positive light.
    That shot drinking coffee on the balcony made me see a bit of the appeal again. I used to dream about living in the city growing up and seeing it romanticized in movies and shows. And then, you hear about all of the trash, pests, cost, subway horror stories, and lose that dream. Figure that you're better off staying in your little uncrowded pocket of suburbia, living a safe and comfortable existence instead of one that might push you to grow and do more.

    Holy shit I just stumbled across this; I'm a West-Coaster with a townhouse in SoCal and I'm closing on an apartment in Hawaii this month, but I always assumed that literally _any_ property in somewhere super-bougie like Manhattan would just cost about $1Million+ at a minimum, from the way I always hear people talking about it. I jumped on Zillow and was _shocked_ to see you can buy surprisingly _nice_ 2bed/1bath places for like $299K+! Crazy. I had no idea it was so affordable. I couldn't personally live there myself because of an irritating thing called "winter" which I hate (I can't live without palm trees and sunshine), but that is a very nice apartment in the video!

    • @MattSezer
      @MattSezer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      There are no 2BRs in Manhattan for $299K. You most likely saw a land leased coop, where you're buying the apartment itself, but renting the land that it's on. You could be paying thousands of dollars in monthly fees for the land lease in addition to your $299K mortgage. Also, the pandemic brought rents in Manhattan down a lot with people moving out. Landlords had tons of empty apartments and were offering huge discounts. However, rents have already gone up to almost pre-pandemic levels, and you couldn't rent an apartment like the one in this video now for what he's paying.

    • @VisionQuest057
      @VisionQuest057 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MattSezer Ah, crap. So I guess my original impression was correct then. Well that's disappointing but not surprising, I guess. Also I thought that whole "land lease/leasehold" scammy bullshit was only in Hawaii (I've had to jump through hoops to avoid it while buying a place on Oahu); I didn't realize they did it in other places too. That sucks :/ Man the housing situation in the US is absolute garbage right now. I guess _somebody's_ getting rich off of it.

    • @MattSezer
      @MattSezer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@VisionQuest057 Yeah, real estate can be very conplicated in NYC. I wish it was as simple as it is in a lot of the country as just getting a mortgage and buying a single family home with the land it’s on included.

      @@gurichxhxl Believe me!!!! Nothing is as depressing as a NY winter and the city is packed full of rats and is simply a disgusting place. Having been in the Mediterranean I can honestly say, I wouldn't live in NY even if I got paid to live there... Bad weather, bad food, cold place ridiculously overpriced housing units and a terrible quality of life as a whole... Not all that glitters is gold.

Watching that, I think New York City is a town to feel in your heart and to live to really know what it is....a big hello from France

    Nice apartment and amazing views! I gather that your views of the city from your apartment are facing south, which gets the most amount of sunlight. I would have personally picked the other bedroom, but then again you have 2 closets! I also like what you did with your bedroom, which has a lot of good feng shui. Your bed could also be oriented to face the window if you ever decide to redecorate. Overall, great choice on the apartment!

    This price (US$ 1.250) it is equivalent of R$ 6.584,75 that is the money in Brasil in directly conversion today (09/10/21). The minimum income in Brasil is R$ 1.045. This make the apartment costs more than 6 times the minimum income, that is a lot for us, but I understand that because of the location and the size is almost cheap for an north american person
