Overview of the Talk:
- The beginning of a challenging time for Catholics with the revelations about Cardinal McCarrick and the Pennsylvania grand jury report.
- The implementation of the Dallas Charter in 2002 brought reforms and improved child protection in the Church, but recent events raised questions about the extent of abuse and accountability within the Church.
- Flynn shares a personal anecdote about a safer environment in the Church compared to a public preschool, highlighting the need to address the impact of abuse on individuals' spiritual lives.
- The bishops' meeting in 2018 was marked by protests and security measures, and the subsequent events, including a global summit on abuse, raised concerns about the effectiveness of reforms.
- The need for reform is identified in areas such as governance, communication, teaching, and leadership within the Church.
- Flynn emphasizes the ordinary course of the Church's life involving conflict, division, and reform throughout history.
- A survey among priests and bishops revealed high levels of personal flourishing but a lack of trust and low morale regarding the life of the Church and the leadership of bishops.
- Renewal of the Church through trust in God's grace, aspiration to holiness, and love for the Church as our mother is emphasized.
- Prayers for the Church's renewal and trust in the Lord's power to overcome challenges are encouraged.

What do you think our role as laypeople in the reform of the Church?
To continue to carry out Jesus' instruction: "Love one another as I have loved you."
They will know we are Christians by our love. ✝️🙏🏽
As a layperson we should first lead by example. Not waiting for others. Set the example in being humble, caring and willing to serve. We also have to have a more personal relationship that truly embraces holiness and steadfastness. Lord let it begin with me. Amen.
Trust in the magisterium and the teachings of the church. Christ knew what he was doing when he established the leadership of the church. As lay people our role as part of the body of Christ is to participate in the church, confess our sins and follow Christ.
The history of God’s church is full of prophets, priests, apostles and bishops who were not free of sin. But that never stopped God’s plan for our salvation.
All Christ ever asked of us was to abide by his covenants and to follow him. The beatitudes offer his advice on how we are to live a Christian life.
To become saints.
Thank you for posting this video. I was a Protestant, currently taking a look at possibly becoming a Catholic. I am learning about Mother Mary as she is a big part of the Catholic faith. If you know how Protestants think about the view of Catholics as it pertains to Saints and Mother Mary - I am keeping an open mind and educating myself before I go all in. :) At any rate, the situation that has occurred with the Catholic Church brings this verse to mind: "John 15:1-27 ESV -“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing...." I pray that the Catholic Church successfully cleans and makes tidy the Lord's House so it is found blameless and pristine thereon out. What also comes to mind is a phrase from a Christian music group, called "Jars of Clay" (that I enjoyed when I was younger): "The leading cause of atheism are Christians." I think about this a great deal. The Lord has called us to be Light of the World, not the bringer of darkness. Again, thank you for throwing this up on TH-cam.
@weaponofchoice-tc7qs From what I am reading this is the gist I am receiving. Thank you. ^.^
So glad you benefited from JD's talk! Yes, Mary is very important to the Faith and salvation story. She is also important to the "Christian family" still today. If you have any questions about what Catholics believe, our website catholic.com has thousands of articles on the Catholic Faith and history, this channel has tons of videos, and we have a live show 3-5pm PT Mon-Fri where you can call in with any questions you may have. You're in our prayers❤️
I am a Protestant who is in the process of converting (starting Catechism in September and has been attending Mass). Those issues are probably the last barriers to joining the Church so if you're curious I highly recommend Scott Hahn and Keith Nestor; two former pastors. You will be in my prayers and know that you aren't the only Christian hearing the call to join the Church! God be with you.
What is the laypeople role? Knowing and doing is 2 different thing, I think most knows the role, but whether we are doing anything about it is a different story.
Why is CA so silent on this monologue on the critical issues of the last few years: pachamama in the Vatican, priests who have grave sins against nuns etc being allowed to decorate churches in Rome. Fr. martin being sent a hand written letter by the Papa congratulating him on the work he has been doing in promoting the LGBT agenda, secular abortion supporter being placed high up in Catholic organisations devoted to protecting the faith... and the list goes on. We must pray and fast and make reparations for mother church 😢
Dude. The talk this guy just gave is in support of pachamana. He is advocating LGBT, Woman Priests, abortion, same sex marriage, sodomy, .. the works. Watch it again. It's pure heresy and the work of the 😈
CA does dabble into these subjects, but their main role is generally teaching what the Church teaches..not Church politics.
Also the Alarming Church of the State
Over the last year many Calvinists and Lutheranites have converted to Christianity.
Hey, how come it shows (AI Generated) at the very beginning of the speech when I turn on my closed captioning? Is this speech generated by ChatGPT or some other generative AI?
all subtitles on youtube are ai generated its talking about the subtitles
To save money, we use a service that uses AI to generate captions that are more accurate than the TH-cam auto-generated captions. I put the disclaimer there in case there were any errors.
Jesus is not a God of confussion, so if there is aot of it, we do not need reform, we need Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, it is so simple!
“By their fruits you shall know them”
Doors have to be locked and closed in public schools in Florida because of school shootings.
Why, who & how william tyndale was killed
The Protestant king Henry VIII killed Tyndale for his gross mistranslation of the Bible and denying his marriage with Anne Boleyn.
@@Aryalanae historical references,
He was put to death in October 1536. Convicted of heresy, he was tied to a stake, and he reportedly cried out: “Lord, open the eyes of the king of England.” Then he was strangled and burned!
Why & who concealed Access to Bible Books reading?
The Bible (which was very expensive to make before the printing press) was chained and available to read in the parishes. Most people couldn’t read at all nor had the education to understand the scriptures
Read Timeless by Steve Weidenkopf.
@@Aryalanae so it was never read out in churches freely & openly, by those who could read, so that it could be listened by people !
@@sdp44 clearly you are not understanding the response to your question.
@@sdp44EVERY mass has at least three scripture readings. So to say the bible was never read is laughable. If you take the time and read what the catholic church teaches and professes maybe you would be surprised.
What is the purpose of this video? It only points out that the bishops are more corrupt than we understand. But that’s not new,
What will be done or can we do? Otherwise the video is like the speaker, squishy and useless
We can start by not using ad hominems to attack others. Sometimes we don't hear the answers when we don't want to hear them
