Excellent video review! Too many seem to think the Himi is a "Dual Sport" and they complain about the weight, the suspension, the power.... But the himi is designed to be an "All Road" bike that can also do difficult rails and single track at a lower speed. It is what I consider an adventure bike that will take you anywhere at a speed that doesn't break the bike or the rider. If the rider wants to blast down trails with buddies this isn't the right bike, if the rider wants to see where this goes, the bike will take him/her there and back. Yes it is too heavy. So is every bike that most of us can afford.

I am more of an analogue fan. cause anyhow you will be mounting your phone. I think providing digital display and mirroring options are very cheap ways to increase the bike price. Instead of that go old school. Every biker I see mounts their phone and camera on the bike. So, there is no point in providing these things. It increases the bike price and unnecessary maintenance.
This display is unlike other I have seen personally. In most cases you need a sat-nav to compare with what maps on phones do. This display is similar to a phone mounted on your handlebar. The price is mostly increased because of upgraded forks and liquid cooled engine, which requires a lot more machining.
We moint our phones because they could provide what meters haven't. Now that more of them are, youay see fewer people mounting them or only mounting them periodically for a specific purpose. Having killed cameras and lost phones to failed mounts, I'd be happy to have display show/control phone while phone is tucked away. Or, as was my idea before the new displays finally started connecting to phones: do away with displays and make secure mounting point for phones, have an USBC connector from the ECU and custom app for use as a display.
An LCD screen and a little software is actually dirt cheap (have you seen the price of a Kindle?). It is likely MORE expensive to go analog, as then you need the chrome rings, cables, etc. that no one wants to manufacture any more anyway. And the electronics can always be updated and added to, but analog cannot. I get your point, but I really don't see analog as a cheaper or better option.

If a bike is described as good for riding in India then it can take on anything the US has to offer. Top speed of 100 mph might be a problem for some but speed is not its forte.
@@the_drifter-bw9hj I like the new himalayan the way she looks and the parameters are ok for me. Speed was never my problem. CFMoto has shown the 450MT on the Eicma for, about the same price. Adjustable suspension, a bit more power, twin 270 degrees engine .. I already ordered my Himi, but on the paper there are also very good competitors, even better, depends on what you want to do.
it is a little early for so many certainties.....it is a very nice bike, interesting, the best value though? It isn't out yet but when it is, there will also be others, plenty of others, better spec, arguably better value and better bikes in general....
Since bikes are known projects at least a year in advance, your comment makes no sense. We know what the competition is, and there aren't "plenty of others" - only the others we know. The only new option besides this one would be CFMoto and Kove as other commentator pointed out. Yes there is more interesting in the small/medium adv bikes (finally) but "more" doesn't mean that much with the limited number of vendors and networks. Maybe Kawasaki will up the Versys 300 to the new 450 engine, but who knows? And apparently KTM announced they are canceling the 390 Adv (? even though it might be the best option in this segment ?) so that's not really more competition but less.
Just too slow, tall and heavy for so little bike. Honda were making 500cc single cylinder trail bikes back in 1979 that were +100lbs lighter and quicker. Is this progress?
It isn't 1979.... and not sure what you are comparing to in today's market. Honda's 500cc now are heavier than their competition. And all these bikes have to pass emissions and safety standards from multiple countries that is nothing like pre 80s. If you are comparing to a 2 cycle 1970s Yamaha DT that started this segment, than sure it was lighter and more hp - but that was yesterday and you cannot sell that bike today so get over it.
Current Honda CB500X torque 42 NM at 6500rpm Himalayan 452 40 NM at 5500 RPM Weight CB- 199 KG Himalayan - 196KG Himalayan has more area under its torque curve as it makes 90% of its torque from 3000 RPM Weight nearly identical. You are one of those dumb guys who haven’t ridden shit but love to read spec sheets. I have owned 9 bikes 2 moped all from 102 CC to 1340 CC from Japanese to Indian to American all in between Have done more than 300000 kms or 180000 miles of different motorcycles. Yes new motorcycles need to weigh more in budget segment as they don’t have the option to use any expensive materials to keep cost down What weights more- modern exhaust systems - Evaporator systems - catalytic converters . Fuels delivery systems fuel injection - fuels pumps - fuel filters. Electronics add weight like ECM - ABS control units - and all the complex wiring that controls it with all the relays and sensors ABS Adds weight just because it’s has double the hydraulic lines and at least 3 times the fluid. ABS units also weigh a lot. ( in bike terms) Eg. just the ABS Module on a CBR250R weighs more than 10lbs without all the other things like more fluid lines and sensors and mounts etc. Electronic start systems (starter Motor +Relays + wiring + Bigger Batteries) Stock exhaust on CB500X weights more than 10lbs Now you are comparing a XL500 to these newer bikes. which made 27 to 32HP in different tunes had nothing but a tubular single spar frame and skinny forks. Drum brakes which were ineffective by today’s standards with no emissions standards and regulations to comply to you are genius and BTW no they are not faster nor comfortable than these new RE’S or Hondas new 250 ADV from Suzuki can outrun those.
Light bikes are nice on the trail, but when that 18 wheeler goes by, you'll want some meat on your bike. Do you want a light weight dual sport, or a sturdy adventure bike?
Ship your motorcycle to India and see how much it costs. Plus, the U.S. versions will have certain features the India models do not have, like tubeless rims and tires.

Gimme gimme!
any chance of pronouncing the name correctly . Him,a,lay,in 😂🤣😅😆😂
You mean with an Himalayan accent then right? Because that would be the only right way to pronounce the name 😉
Himolian??!
He is pronouncing it the same way as they pronounce it in India, where the bike is made.
He is pronouncing it correctly.
Or chassis... not chazzy
Cliche much? Using the song with samples from India 🤣🤣🤣
Anyways, only Dummy Noob from international media had problems with his Himalayan?
They probably gave him the fueling issue purposely........he's a jerk.
@@ws8080 The Honda XL500, Yamaha also had the XT500 that came out earlier in 1976. 100lbs of safety & emissions progress, right.
Current Honda CB500X torque 42 NM at 6500rpm
Himalayan 452 40 NM at 5500 RPM
Weight CB- 199 KG
Himalayan - 196KG
Himalayan has more area under its torque curve as it makes 90% of its torque from 3000 RPM
Weight nearly identical.
You are one of those dumb guys who haven’t ridden shit but love to read spec sheets.
I have owned 9 bikes 2 moped all from 102 CC to 1340 CC from Japanese to Indian to American all in between
Have done more than 300000 kms or 180000 miles of different motorcycles.
Yes new motorcycles need to weigh more in budget segment as they don’t have the option to use any expensive materials to keep cost down
What weights more- modern exhaust systems - Evaporator systems - catalytic converters .
Fuels delivery systems fuel injection - fuels pumps - fuel filters.
Electronics add weight like ECM - ABS control units - and all the complex wiring that controls it with all the relays and sensors
ABS Adds weight just because it’s has double the hydraulic lines and at least 3 times the fluid.
ABS units also weigh a lot. ( in bike terms)
Eg. just the ABS Module on a CBR250R weighs more than 10lbs without all the other things like more fluid lines and sensors and mounts etc.
Electronic start systems (starter Motor +Relays + wiring + Bigger Batteries)
Stock exhaust on CB500X weights more than 10lbs
Now you are comparing a XL500 to these newer bikes. which made 27 to 32HP in different tunes had nothing but a tubular single spar frame and skinny forks.
Chazzy 😂😂😂
Not wortha the $7000 because it costs $3400 in india😂
Ship your motorcycle to India and see how much it costs. Plus, the U.S. versions will have certain features the India models do not have, like tubeless rims and tires.
@@tangoindiamike9189It is getting homologated. Most of the indians don't know how to work on their bikes not even changing tyres let alone fixing a puncture lol so it is definitely coming to india
Doesn't feel like a independent review
Correct, VERY BIASED to R.E.
He did not fault one thing with the RE. So DISAPOINTING.
👍🏽🤙🏾
My comment.
VERY BIASED review towards RE.
Was NOT a independent review, in my opinion.
Overall, a GREAT review. 10/10.
Biased? They rode the bike a long while and said their opinions.... that's how it's done.
@@ws8080
Very true. BUT he DID NOT criticise one thing. NOT one!!!
OBVIOUSLY a Biased review.
Please read other people's comments.
Regards.
@@tpv59 what should he criticize though? Lack of cruise control?
@@adityan3208
How about, something???
Maybe just ONE thing???
Just ONE.
Regards.
🤣 can't focus on the review when he is trying hard to pronounce it the Indian way! Come on man your audience is English you don't get cool points, just pronounce it the way your English speaking audience pronounces it!! 😂
I had been watching Itchy Boots channel and she too uses the local pronunciation. It does not bother me at all.
There is no Indian or English way of pronouncing a proper noun, there's just the right or the wrong way.
@@jfess1911 Well she is an amazing person so she gets away with it 🤣 I watch her too!
@@maidenhead6661 well to me its just wrong! Its my opinion! Haha cheers 🥂
Nope. Not doing it.
Do yourself a favor and just watch this on mute with subtitles on :P
