Hi Nicole. Beautiful podcast as always. It really struck a chord with me about being authentic and not striving to look or be a certain way. I have always been minimal with makeup and also struggled with how I feel about my body but as I approach my 50th birthday I just don’t want to waste time worrying that I look a certain way. I’m embracing my greying hair and now make clothes and garments that I love and suit me. Loving all your projects. Thank you for such lovely videos 😊
I'm glad you're feeling better about aging. I know that it's a constant check-in for me to "hear" the little negative voice in my head that has been conditioned to see signs of aging as bad. But it's inevitable, and so much kinder to be loving and accepting. And of course making our own clothes helps a lot too to feel special. Thank you so much for watching and for your comment!
Loved this podcast, Nicole. You are so natural and have star quality. I am so happy to be knitting again. You always inspire me. I love to listen to you while I am knitting. Love your choices in patterns and yarns, too. Thanks for all the work you do. Your enthusiasm is contagious.
I love everything you knit. You are my favorite podcast. I savor every episode. I especially liked the detail shots of your projects and the music on this episode. Also the nature shots you’ve been doing at the end of your podcasts. Such a treat.
Yep, these knitted garments are lovely and realistically attainable for most (if not me). Nicole doesn’t try to prove anything, and I’ve enjoyed every minute of this relaxed presentation!
Thank you Nicole for all the warmth, and the care that you wish us, your followers. I have watched your podcasts for a long time, and appreciate all the time and effort you put into your podcasts, your knits and your lovely explanations. I love your walks out in your woods. Thank you.
Really love this podcast and you Nicole! Thanks so much for the time and effort you take to put out such a thoughtful show. I especially loved what you were saying about body image at the end of today’s episode. My niece was crowned a Rosebowl queen way back when, and I have a high school friend who was voted “best looking” in 1972. Both of them were so cursed by these “honors” because it was a label that is totally unsustainable, which for them resulted in eating disorders and plastic surgeries, and awful self esteem issues that turned out to be crippling. Their self worth became tied to their external beauty as defined by American culture. It’s a new day and a good one in so many ways. Again, thank you Nicole. I wish you all the very best health n 2022.
Oh Nicole, thanks so much for your beautiful podcast. It certainly fits you, the gentle knitter, you are very inspiring, gentle and so relaxing. Just what we all want in life! Love all your knits, the colours are so gentle and love the O cardigan! Thank you from here in Sydney where the sun is shining the weather is great and we are coming into our Autumn. Happy knitting till next time.
Thank you for being a good citizen. My mother is in a nursing home and it's so distressing to me when people are bad citizens because they seem to be oblivious of the hardship imposed on elderly people when they keep on passing the virus around. My mother has not seen her grandchildren or great grandchildren or any of her friends for a whole year. Imagine that.
You all probably dont give a damn but does any of you know a trick to log back into an instagram account? I somehow lost the password. I love any help you can give me.
When a new podcast comes out I am always torn between „watching it right away“ and „saving it“. This was a treat again 😊. I am always getting so much great inspiration from your projects. Thank you for taking the time to talk to us 💕
What a beautiful mistake you made on the collar of the O Knot Cardigan, I just love the shall collar. I would suggest Taylor E Owen keeps it as an option in her pattern.
Nicole, that's an excellent suggestion. The O Knot cardigan is much more beautiful knitted with whatever "mistakes" The Gentle Knitter made in the original pattern. I love the shawl collar. I think the designer should consider adding it as an option in her original pattern, or creating an additional pattern with the shawl collar. I'd like the name "O Why Knot Cardigan" for that additional pattern.
Bonjour Nicole! Je tiens à te remercier pour ces épisodes si doux et si réconfortants. Je prends le temps de me mettre à jour des Gentle Knitter et cela me fait beaucoup de bien. Merci beaucoup! Tu es si belle.
Thank you so so much for test knitting the O Knot cardigan. Yours turned out so lovely!!! I love the look of the collar folded over. I’ve been wanting to knit a Felix cardigan myself, I just can’t decide on the yarn to use.
Nicole you really found your stride on this podcast! It is ALWAYS so inspiring to see your work and your projects are more beautiful with time. I especially enjoyed how you are displaying them now like a 'still life" showing off the stitching and really allowing us to contemplate the work.I just finished my fourth Felix Cardigan but none is as beautiful as your's. Each one was so thoughtfully finished as usual. I hope to purchase some Nutridene at this next update! I selfishly ask that you don't make us wait too long for the next podcast.Stay well!!
Thank you for another beautiful and inspiring podcast, Nicole! I always enjoy your book recommendations along with seeing what you have been working on! The Felix cardigan has been on my Ravelry queue for quite some time - your gorgeous version has me nudging it up higher on my list, though I am trying to knit from stash as much as possible right now. Also love the Raven‘s Eye view shawl pattern - think it would be gorgeous in a dark forest green I’ve got. Thank you also for being (and talking about being ) a „good citizen“ by following Corona regulations. I work in a hospital and have seen the cases. I am so grateful for all the sacrifices we all make to help get the situation under control. And they ARE sacrifices. So it’s good to mention. It made me feel less isolated, thank you! Enjoy the rest of winter while it lasts!
thank you for watching! I think a Raven shawl in a dark forest green would be amazing! And thank you for the work you do in healthcare. Making small personal sacrifices is the least we can do to keep everyone safe, especially those in vulnerable positions!
When I see you've posted a new video, I know a treat awaits and I'm never disappointed. As others have commented, I like your shawl collar better too😊. Thanks for your thoughtfulness and inspiration as we wend our ways through the confusion of constant "incoming." BTW, another of my favorite podcasters is also from Ottawa - Selma of Little Big Knits.
Well, what can I say, I have missed you but you are back and with all the lovely projects. Always tempting me with your greys. I love them and yet I'm supposed to be all about the brights. I love the shawl collar and the mittens. Take care, and I hope you continue to enjoy, from afar, the lovely snow you still have.
Good lady. You are consciousness made manifest. You are perfection as you are. We all are. Love yourself that way and everything else falls into place. Loving your knitty projects xxx
So lovely to watch your podcast Nicole and to hear your views on how we perceive our bodies👍I love all of your content especially your wonderful garments. And yes I had a wonderful cosy time watching and knitting under my woolly blanket. Thank you 😘
Thanks for this very relaxing and informative podcast today. I enjoyed looking at your beautiful knitting and listening to your intelligent discussion about various wonderful yarns. I also especially loved your thoughts regarding the Raven's shawl in relation to 'Lost Words' which I also heard Ciasbod (another podcaster I'm sure you know of) discuss a wee while ago. So I feel very PROUD of knitters involved with this project - a great way to be 'political' and creative all at the same time !! I also think your discussion about Susan Crawford's 'Evolution' was insightful and important. We still (even after many decades now of feminist critique) have to live with unreasonable even outrageous notions of bodily 'perfection' and 'beauty' which are not even often ameliorated by the fact we all naturally 'age'. So I think the ability to make beautiful things to put on our own (and others') inevitably 'imperfect' and 'real' bodies - is an invaluable and wonderful essential attribute of so many knitters and similar 'makers'.
I would definitely not call the test knit a fail! The whole point of a designer having others knit the pattern is to identify mistakes, and ensure the pattern works for other people. You were able to show the designer the ambiguity with her instructions and improve the patter for others. Love your gentle spirit. Hello from PEI.
Thank you for your inspiring words about being who you really are and not what other people want you to be. Love you so much and thank you for showing us so many beautiful publications and most of all who you are!!!
Thank you for sharing all the lovely work you've been doing. I don't know if I have ever commented on your videos before but I so appreciate the sweet, gentle feeling a glimpse into your world gives me. Always wishing you well.
Hello Nicole, your podcasts are therapeutic! I come out of them so refreshed, renewed and recharged. Thank you for taking the time to treat us to your words of wisdom, you kind soul. Lovely to see all your beautiful projects in the making. I did try those mittens and that thumb is a total game changer, So comfortable!! I too am a big mitten fan ahah! Loved to hear you liked Bernd Heinrich's Mind of a Raven, his books are quite something aren't they? Adoré le mot de la fin également; en tant que femmes nous sommes souvent confrontées à notre image et celle que la société véhicule...être soi véritablement est un cadeau que l'on se doit. Au Plaisir et au prochain podcast!
Thank you Nicole for taking the time to share the ambiance of your lovely home, your meticulous knits, and your gentle presence. Everything about you comes across so classy in an authentic and heartfelt way. Watching you makes me proud to be Canadian. Greetings from SW Ontario. You brightened my dark winter day :)
Thank you for another lovely episode, Nicole! I find everything about your Podcast so soothing - your voice, your setting and colour scheme and the nature footage. And your projects are always inspiring. Greetings from Germany, take care!
I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to give you detailed instructions on how to achieve the shawl collar, as it would be different based on the size made. Basically I did too many decreases, which added more rows.
Hi Nicole, I absolutely adore your podcast, everything you knit is beautiful and in fact, I’m a huge fan of Nutiden, too. I loved what you said about the last book, about how we present ourselves in our lives. Thats a really important quote to think of, and we should talk more about our condition of being humans with all implications, but there is beauty in every possible condition we could have. So thank you for making me think about that!
I love that you're being a responsible pandemic folk. Sometimes it's very difficult to walk the narrow path and I appreciate it. Your podcast was inspiring as always. I've just purchased the mitten pattern and look forward to comfortable thumbs.
I loved the parts of your daily life that you've put in with the music in the background. Thank you Nicole! Stay safe and enjoy the Nature as much as you can! Kisses from Italy Sara
Nicole - I just rewatched this video and it leads me to say how much I enjoyed it, and feel like every design choice you make resounds with me and I’m thinking I must try some of these patterns! I know that you aren’t podcasting at this time, which I miss but respect your desire to follow your path, and so don’t know if you will ever see this at this point, but anyway, its out there in the universe and and please don’t feel you need to respond - I hope you wintered well and are enjoying life and health. Happy spring!
Hi, Nicole, First time on your channel__the intro song was lovely, sounds like a lullaby. I was hoping you had listed it at the bottom of your show notes. Anyway, I did not intend on watching at this time, however, you got me with the Alex Cardigan and the lovely yarn used to knit it up. Afterward, time just disappeared till the end. Lots of things to check out! Thank you so much for reminding me of "The Lost Words"__that is one book all parents should have in their child's collection. I don't recall hearing about the MAL but I love the idea__just one more item to put on my "things to make" list! 😱 I love your project choice, beautiful shawl__I'm thinking it would be awesome in a midnight blue, cashsilk yarn, ooooh! 💎 Thank you for sharing your knitting and spinning with us__sooo relaxing. The simplicity of creating a life through the home arts, that's the direction of my intentions moving forward. Btw, love your bee tattoo. 🐝 Have a lovely day. 🙏😇✨💫🌱🌿🌻🐝🌳🌎💖🙌🙌🙌😺
Bonjour! 😊
So happy to have clicked on your podcast today. Love your gentleness and your knitting and your glimpses of back east and real winter. Have subscribed. Looking forward to more.
Love your cabled cardigan and the by chance changes that made it yours. Just ordered the Lost Words for my DIL she will love it. Thank you so much for the recommendation! Your projects are fabulous!! So much of the things I also love to knit.
another lovely episode. you are just a joy to watch as you are so genuine and its hard to find that these days. with your podcast i always feel like i'm stopping by a friends house to chat about knitting, yarn, life. keep being the lovely lady you are and just as an aside, you have gotten me also hooked on garter shawls. i have made 3 during covid lockdowns 2 for myself and one for my mom. i also got to purchase some natural color worsted yarn from West Coast Color farm and i love it. thanks for the suggestion and i mean to make a big love card from it. be well.
Aww thank you so much for your kind words. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who's hooked on garter shawls! And a Big Love in West Coast Colour sounds heavenly! xo
Thank you Nicole for another comforting and inspiring podcast. I love the yarns you work with, the projects you select and especially spending time with you. Your thoughts on aging and being our genuine, unique selves really struck a cord, thank you.
Thank you for your podcasting time! I really enjoyed all you had to offer. And I’m with you, embrace the changes and the journey. Life is beautiful as it is! Be well!
Thank you for another visit. I got one skein of the Daughter of a Shepard and I keep it by my desk. When I am needing encouragement at work, I open the bag to smell the yarn and pet it. Your shawl will be beautiful.
I just always love everything about your podcast and want to make all the things that you show us that you’ve done. Thank you so much for being so creative, insightful, and thoughtful in your presentation.
Oh your Half+Half is going to be completely stunning. And yes, it is a loooong knit. But like you said who wants dessert to disappear fast? Although, I am sorely tempted to start on a second “dessert”! It really is just the most soothing knit. And I love your yarn choices for this project, and all your projects. The Between Petals colourway of the Nutiden is the one that I used the most in my Soirée Sweater, and which I’m using up the remnants of now in my Vertices Unite. It’s too precious not to use up every scrap! Oh, and in another funny coincidence, I’m about to knit a shawl collar which will have to be part improvised for the modified Jones that I’m knitting for my son. There’s just something about a shawl collar, isn’t there? Kind of feels like your jumper is giving you a hug - hahaha!
Yes, I agree, shawl collars are like hugs. How nice that you will be putting a "hug" on your son's sweater. And the beauty of your Soirée, with all the gorgeous colours you used, made me gasp with admiration!
Thank you for a lovely podcast. I'm glad that I heard about you at my virtual knit night. I also live in Ottawa and congratulations to you for portraying our National Capital Region so beautifully. Keep walking the narrow path and leading by example. Lâches-pas. One more thing ... à la Columbo. Thank you for introducing me to the Bachlog mittens.
Thank you for another lovely podcast. I'm grateful to you for sharing your talents and ideas, and I always look forward to your lovely voice at the beginning. All the best from Toronto. Take care!
I started my morning by watching a little before work and ended after my work day finished. Such a beautiful podcast and especially your words at the end and the sharing of Susan Crawford's book. I started following Susan sometime ago and I love her honesty and willingness to share, even the hard parts her life. Even though I do not know her personally she comes across to me as a genuine person, as do you. Keep doing what you are doing and I look forward to next time.
Oh your podcast is lovely! I just came across this video in my recommendations. I feel like I could listen to you talk for hours! It was a such a pleasure to crochet along to it. Thank you for this. I know this is an older video, but you have gained a new subscriber and I will definitely be watching more videos!
It was so lovely to knit with you today Nicole! Thank you for sharing your beautiful projects, they're all so inspiring! Your Felix cardigan turned out so perfect, I finished the pullover recently and think I need a cardigan version as well.
I want to thank you so much for introducing us all to the beautiful book The Lost Words. I knew when you reviewed it that I wanted to gift it to my sister for her 80th birthday July15. She was a teacher and writer, a lover of children and a nature lover! She thanked me saying…….for the marvelous gift! We both thank you!
Lovely to see you again neighbour 😉 so many lovely knits!!! I have to say that just today I was thinking about the whole idea of being authentically oneself so it’s interesting that you bring up that book. Best, selma
Always enjoy your videos. I too feel the connection to the Raven, we had many where I grew up in the North. Kate Davies and Susan Crawford, two inspiring, strong women.
I really enjoyed your video today. So many beautiful things were shown and I appreciated your message at the end. The way you talk about yarn is so informative and calming. One of my current WIP's is Purl Soho's rectangular blanket. It is knit with lots of different yarns with varying weights and I am loving it so much. I already have plans to knit my Dad one because I never want to stop knitting it haha
I absolutely love your knitting. If the O Knot cardigan pattern included the collar like yours I would buy it. The felix cardigan is so lovely in that yarn. Thank you for sharing.
everything about your podcasts are lovely, so informative. The comments on aging were spot on, pity more don't have your outlook on life. Thank you for this video it was so well done. Beautiful and thoughtful projects!
Bonjour Nicole.
Thanks Nicole - lovely podcast. So much beauty as usual and my favorite is Fibre and Forge whom I knew nothing about, which is ridiculous as I live closeby!
Hi Friend! Your episode is like a tall glass of water on a deadly hot day! Seriously. I have been in such a knitting rut and I think you're helping me see the light at the end of a very dark tunnel. I have the linen quill yarn on hand for the half and half wrap in a dark navy and bright blue. I think I'm going to dig it out and wind it up.
Hi Nicole. Beautiful podcast as always. It really struck a chord with me about being authentic and not striving to look or be a certain way. I have always been minimal with makeup and also struggled with how I feel about my body but as I approach my 50th birthday I just don’t want to waste time worrying that I look a certain way. Really love this podcast and you Nicole! Thanks so much for the time and effort you take to put out such a thoughtful show. I especially loved what you were saying about body image at the end of today’s episode.
How lovely to imagine you on the "other side" watching along :)
Another beautiful episode! I love your calmness, esthetic and projects. Happy making from Germany ❄️😊
So lovley to spend time with you today, here in Sweden the snow has all melted away now and spring is definitely in the air/ from a sunny Sweden, Cia
Thank you Cia! Enjoy the sunshine xo

It can be easy to lose sight on why even seemingly small gestures can have a big impact. But we must try!
You all probably dont give a damn but does any of you know a trick to log back into an instagram account?

When a new podcast comes out I am always torn between „watching it right away“ and „saving it“. This was a treat again 😊. I am always getting so much great inspiration from your projects. Thank you for taking the time to talk to us 💕
So glad you enjoy it!
Me too! I want to watch right away but I also want to save it to savor later!! Solved the dilemma this time by just watching it twice😂
I love the shawl collar. Thank you for your calm video.
Thank you! 😊
What a beautiful mistake you made on the collar of the O Knot Cardigan, I just love the shall collar. I would suggest Taylor E Owen keeps it as an option in her pattern.
Thanks Nicole!
Nicole...that is exactly what I wanted to suggest here, so I totally agree with your opinion/idea!

Thank you so so much for test knitting the O Knot cardigan. Yours turned out so lovely!!! I love the look of the collar folded over. I’ve been wanting to knit a Felix cardigan myself, I just can’t decide on the yarn to use.

@@paulahutchinson4312 yes, for sure!
@@TaylorOwen Yay! Cant wait until this pattern is ready to purchase!

Love that song who’s I new the language. You have a lovely voice. So relaxing to hear you sing.
Thank you Sandra, it's an old French folk song we sung as children.
Lovely podcast......lots of great knitting ideas....and great links.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Your podcast is a delight. Thank you for sharing. Xx Lisa
Thank you so much!
Hi, Nicole,
First time on your channel__the intro song was lovely, sounds like a lullaby.
Thank you for sharing your knitting and spinning with us__sooo relaxing. The simplicity of creating a life through the home arts, that's the direction of my intentions moving forward.
Btw, love your bee tattoo. 🐝
Have a lovely day.
🙏😇✨💫🌱🌿🌻🐝🌳🌎💖🙌🙌🙌😺
Hi Debra, thanks for watching and for all your kind words. The song at the beginning is a traditional French folk song called "À la claire fontaine"
Bonjour!
So happy to have clicked on your podcast today. Love your gentleness and your knitting and your glimpses of back east and real winter. Have subscribed. Looking forward to more.
thank you so much Donna!
Love your cabled cardigan and the by chance changes that made it yours. Just ordered the Lost Words for my DIL she will love it. Thank you so much for the recommendation! Your projects are fabulous!! So much of the things I also love to knit.
Such a beautiful Felix cardigan & the yarn is just delicious!
First time watching your podcast and it’s lovely, I’ll be back 😃
thank you for watching! xo
another lovely episode. you are just a joy to watch as you are so genuine and its hard to find that these days. with your podcast i always feel like i'm stopping by a friends house to chat about knitting, yarn, life. keep being the lovely lady you are and just as an aside, you have gotten me also hooked on garter shawls. i have made 3 during covid lockdowns 2 for myself and one for my mom. i also got to purchase some natural color worsted yarn from West Coast Color farm and i love it. thanks for the suggestion and i mean to make a big love card from it.
Thank you so much for watching and for your sweet comment
Good for you being a good citizen! Love your channel

You as well xo
Paisible, joyeux et inspirant comme toujours. Merci Nicole!
Merci xo
I am making the O Knot Cardigan as well. I just love how yours came out and the collar is lovely!
Thank you! 😊
Thank you for another visit. I got one skein of the Daughter of a Shepard and I keep it by my desk. When I am needing encouragement at work, I open the bag to smell the yarn and pet it. Your shawl will be beautiful.
Lol, glad I'm not the only one that smells and pets my yarn :)
Such a beautiful language. Wish my Dad had taught me french. He was from Louisiana. Haven't heard that beautiful language in so long,it was so nice.
Merci Jan!
I love the first sweater you show, it is beautiful. The yarn looks dreamy.
It really is dreamy!
I just always love everything about your podcast and want to make all the things that you show us that you’ve done. Thank you so much for being so creative, insightful, and thoughtful in your presentation.
How lovely, thank you xo
Love your podcast. Very enjoyable.
Merci pour votre balado.....j'adore la chanson du début...à chaque fois j'ai les larmes aux yeux.......
Oh c'est trop gentil, merci xo
I love your podcasts very much thank you
Thanks for listening
I love the detailing on your Felix cardigan. You always have such lovely patterns. Be well.
Thank you so much!
Hi Nicol, before I started to medication I listened to you song it make me relax and carmine thank you 🙏
thank you for your kind words
Thank you for another lovely podcast. I'm grateful to you for sharing your talents and ideas, and I always look forward to your lovely voice at the beginning. All the best from Toronto. Take care!
Thank you Leslie xo
I started my morning by watching a little before work and ended after my work day finished. Such a beautiful podcast and especially your words at the end and the sharing of Susan Crawford's book. I started following Susan sometime ago and I love her honesty and willingness to share, even the hard parts her life. Even though I do not know her personally she comes across to me as a genuine person, as do you. Keep doing what you are doing and I look forward to next time.
Thank you Lynne for watching, and for leaving such a lovely comment.
How nice to know I kept you company while you knit! I am already dreaming of a pullover Felix, such a great, easy pattern!
You are so welcome! I'm so happy to hear your sister enjoys it.
Thankyou for another beautiful podcast. Everything about it was soothing and inspirational. I so want to knit a shawl but now I’m spoilt for choice!
You are so welcome!
Lovely to see you again neighbour 😉 so many lovely knits!!! I have to say that just today I was thinking about the whole idea of being authentically oneself so it’s interesting that you bring up that book. Best, selma
Hey neighbour, so glad you stopped by for a "visit"
Always enjoy your videos. I too feel the connection to the Raven, we had many where I grew up in the North. Kate Davies and Susan Crawford, two inspiring, strong women.
I agree.
I love your message at the end! It really resonates with me. 💜 Wonderful episode with stunning knits. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for your sweet comment.
Your Felix cardigan is gorgeous and you showed the Nutedin yarn beautifully thank you 🙏
I really enjoyed your video today.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the podcast. And I can relate to you wanting to knit on your project indefinitely!
A wonderful episode, all of your projects are beautiful as always but I definitely need to knit the beautiful hidden gems shawl. 😊
I highly recommend it!
I absolutely love your knitting. If the O Knot cardigan pattern included the collar like yours I would buy it. The felix cardigan is so lovely in that yarn. Thank you for sharing.
My pleasure!
Beautiful knits and gorgeous colour choices
Thank you! 😊
everything about your podcasts are lovely, so informative. The comments on aging were spot on, pity more don't have your outlook on life. Thank you for this video it was so well done. Beautiful and thoughtful projects!
Thank you so much Diana!
I actually prefer your collar on the test knit, it looks and feels cosier. The open neck seems to be counterintuitive to me. You are not a fail 💕
Thanks Éva!
That dark brown yarn looked exactly like your beautiful hair twisted into a skein! Love it!!
Oh thank you xo
Bonjour Nicole.
C'est un tel bonheur de regarder vos podcasts...Je les attend avec impatience ,même si je ne comprend pas l'anglais ..Vous présentez tant de belles choses et tout ça dans un univers naturel et paisible. Ça fait du bien.

Thank you so much!
Loved this podcast and being you!
Thank you xo
Oooh, a blue Half + Half sounds lovely! I hope that your knitting mojo comes back full force! xo
Encore un petit bonbon d'épisode! Merci!!
Merci Christine xoxo
The Between Petals colorway from Nutiden is SO complex and beautiful. It's so lovely. Thank you for sharing with us!
