the GL1500 is notorious for having buttons stick. There seems to be a lot of opinions on how to fix. When I had it happen on this bike I had success with WD-40 and was very careful not to get it on anything else. Some have said to use electrical contact cleaner work too. I no longer have this bike but still have a GL1500. Good luck on your project. Hopefully you can find the part. I hate having to Jerry Rig things to get them to work. Thanks for the comment. My 88' starting switch does Not want too return too outer position when depressed, running starter until I manually pull out switch with fingers?? Help if anyone else has had this problem? I'm with you replacing part, if available, than shims!
Oh wow sorry for the late response. I just now noticed it. I do not have any more suggestions except maybe try spraying it with electronic cleaner or maybe try WD40 first to get it loosened up and then spray it with the E cleaner to get the lube off so it doesn't collect dirt. Good luck

Did you get it figured out?
Yep glued a small flat piece of plastic in there and worked like a charm
@@Clarencechapman good to know thanks. If it ever happens to me I will know what to do in a pinch. Be safe. 👍
