I work on my own...for the most part. Have dug in pretty deep on some projects obviously. There are not many that work on these older wings anymore though. I do have a shop near me that does but only when he is not busy.
Most common problem is the rod that runs off the camshaft to the arm on the fuel pump not being in the correct position. If you aren't very careful, it will fall down as you install the pump and not contact the arm on the fule pump. Old school trick was to put a big glob of grease on the arm to hold it up an in contact with the cam shaft. You have an easier solution if that is the problem. Since you have the engine out on a stand, simply spin it upside down so that gravity will hold the rod up in position.
Thanks for your input. I took it apart and inspected the diaphragm which is in like new condition. The movement seems to be fine and correct. When I put it back together I put the inlet side on my lip and pumped it by hand. There was vac present, but I have no idea how much there should be. So, that being said it could be that like you said I didn't get the rocker arm on the cam or in the right position and so it was not getting the action from the Cam. The engine is still in the car but so flipping it over is not a possibility.🙃
@@Clarencechapman My appologies, to my old eyes it looked like it was out of the car. I don't think I could count ow many times I've put a fuel pump on those older GM engines and missed getting it on the rod correctly. Even on the 6.2L diesel I had I ended up deleting the mechanical fuel pump and going with an electrical one because of that. I hope that helps, best of luck!

@@Clarencechapman So was it that pushrod being misaligned that was the problem? Great to hear it run, that's progress. And I agree with what you said in the video, a little bit of work cleaning and adjusting on the carb and she'll be purring in no time!
@@kevinhicks1108 I think it was just the arm that runs on the cam was not in right position. When I reinstalled I made sure that there was pressure pushing against me then installed bolts. When I had it out of the car I could feel a little bit of vac when I put it on my lip. Used a little old fashioned air pressure (my lips to the fuel fill hole) to fill the lines to the bowl. I left the out put side loose so I could see if there was pumping action and pressure. Once it leaked I tightened everything up. Once the gas hit the carb she started right up. Thanks for the tip.

If the chain is not 100% square to the receiver it will bind it up even more! I ended up just giving it a little heat and it came right out

Some questions on what I am trying to do. In a recent video on my channel I introduced that I purchased this Sequoia and that the hitch was going to be a problem because it is stuck good. In this short I tied it to a 30 ft pine, Blocked the tires and used a bar to tighten the chain. Then pounded on it using this 10# maul. But has not moved. I have sprayed it for about 2 weeks with different lubs and pentrants but still hasnt moved. Thats the better and more clear explaination. Its just ONE BIG CHAPMAN STREET ADVENTURE. Thanks all.

The square shaped hitch turned inside the receiving end which is also square… hit the ball left and right. And the tie it to a tree.
Flip the ball to the bottom so you can get good swings with the sledgehammer

When I put this up I had just bought the Toyota and mentioned in an earlier video that removing that receiver might be a problem. And it is...

PB Blaster, heat, beat and repeat. Make sure the pin is out.
Soak down with PB blaster let sit for 20 min.

I appreciate the suggestions. I actually had that idea too. Doesnt look to be welded but i might take my grinder around it anyways to make sure
Be careful of the gas tank/any lines but maybe heating up the receiver with a torch will expand the metal enough to be able to slip the hitch out
Spare tire is the only thing in the area. finding a torch big enough is the issue. I have friends who have them but they are not close by
Try WD40, A BIGGER CHAIN and a TELEPHONE POLE ... 🥱 It will come out with NO DAMAGE. 🤠
I have been spraying it with various lubs and penetrants for a couple of weeks now. The chain is around a 30 ft pine tree and the wheels are chocked. I bent the loop that is aroound the ball and almost couldnt get it off. If I cant get it I can always replace the receiver for about $275. Thanks for the suggestion.
