Scott, You did a great job explaining everything and kept it simple. To each their own on doneness, I like mine a bit more towards rare. I've used a Thermopen for nearly 10 years and am quite happy with the fast and accurate readings. I will have to try the taters that way, I like garlic and some diced smoked Gouda sometimes. Thanks for taking the time to share this with us!
Agreed. Plus when he put the thermometer in it rose quickly to 145 which means it was still rising, perhaps to 150? That's medium well in my book. 135 is medium rare and I take it out when the temperature hits 130 because it keeps cooking for a few minutes.
Scott, please please peal your potatoes, then add some garlic purée and butter, add cream or milk to your taste and that’s the perfect creamed mash. The ribeye looks delicious I have always used a cast iron griddle but now that I’ve got the ninja that’s definitely the way to go. Thanks Scott keep your recipes coming.
Well I didn't want to do a 4 minute video lol. I'll spend less time on the sides in the future and more on the main course. Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it!
I’m a newbie, so I apologize if this is a stupid question. When turning your steak, do you turn the unit off? Your video doesn’t show the controls while you’re turning it. 🤔
You don't turn off the stove when you're cooking it in a pan so I don't see why you would do anything different with the Ninja. It takes less than 5 seconds to turn the steak. Besides, turning it off will affect your heat
Weird to see someone put the butter, sour cream, seasonings, etc to an empty bowl rather than putting the cooked potatoes in a bowl and then add the rest of the ingredients to the potatoes. Seems like an odd way to make mashed potatoes. Also if you warm the milk in the microwave, you don’t have to worry about the cold milk lowering the temperature of the potatoes/butter. Suggestion: you may want to invest in a potato masher rather than a wooden spoon. 😜
I'm old fashioned (and old lol) I've mashed with a wooden spoon for my whole life. I like "rustic" mashed potatoes. Thank you for watching and the suggestions!
Great video. Wonder why you use the basket instead of the rack. I haven't make any kind of steak yet. We don't eat it often and I don't want to screw it up 😆
I used the basket to demonstrate air crisp. I have other videos where I used the rack and broiled steaks. The Foodi is very versatile. IMO the air crisp came out better. Thanks for watching!
@Loretta..You can certainly use the rack with air crisp but you wont get the desired result. The bottom of the basket is designed to circulate the air. Without it I think its going to be more like broiling.
You dont! Bur if you have one because you love to sous vide and all the other functions, it makes sense to use it for steak so you dont heat up a huge oven/broiler and get that whole thing filthy besides
In the summer, you might not want to heat up your house by using your oven. Plus, the foodi doesn’t use a tenth of the electricity. But you do you. My only question is why are you even watching this video if all you’re going to do is cast aspersions on the foodi?
U did a great job now I’m gonna try it
I like the down to earth way you cook. I enjoy watching. Thank you
I appreciate that!
Thanks that looks awesome. I am learning to use my Nija
Glad to help. Thanks for watching!

Got my Ninja Foodi Christmas present last night. Buying my steaks after work. Thanks for recipe.
By the way, I fixed steaks using this recipe and the were great!
Great concise explaining directions. Thanks.
Steak looks lovely that’s what I’ve got tonight
The Foodi does an amazing job on steak. Just remember to pull it out 5 degrees or so before your temp to let it rest.
really easy thanks.. I am a rookie and it works, I used 10 mins but my steak was not as thick
A potato masher is pretty cheap and works a heck of a lot better than a spoon . Gonna have a lotta lumps .
If you put fresh garlic cloves in with the potatoes, you can mash everything together
Since when is 145 degrees medium rare for steak?? Where did he get that from?
Agreed. Plus when he put the thermometer in it rose quickly to 145 which means it was still rising, perhaps to 150? That's medium well in my book. 135 is medium rare and I take it out when the temperature hits 130 because it keeps cooking for a few minutes.
Looks great. I like your easy recipes Scott. Aussie Bob
magic
Thank you!
Do you have something for salmon fillets in the Foodi 9 in one? Thanks.
This might be my only salmon th-cam.com/video/tWfU8is0Oc0/w-d-xo.html
Guess I better get busy and do some more! I love salmon
Now that looks good. Most of the videos I have watched they pull the steak out and it looks raw.

Now I want to go to the store and get me a steak😊🙋♀️
MMMMmmmm....Steak!
That looked mediium-well to me.
Well done mate
Fabulous looking steak!!
Fabulous tasting too! Possibly the best steak I ever cooked.
Love your videos.. but I tuned in for the crispy steak and instead got 10 minutes out of 14 on potatoes?

L W - I did turn it off, and I lived! Thank you. 😄
@@dianademarti6224 That's stupid. You're more neurotic than I am. I feel sorry for you.
I think i'll try it at 14 min, like mine bloody
Good show just don’t ever use a fork on the steak when u flip it

Are you eating cold mash?
I enjoy cold mash. its very yummy.
@@ScottCooks in the UK we peel the potatoes and eat them hot...I use a potatoes ricer for smooth mash.👍

@@ScottCooks so, can the racks be used for AC? I use mine almost every day but still experimenting.

@@ScottCooks OHHHHH, makes sense. Thanks!
CORRECT....
145 is medium
My air crisp steak always gets too dry and crunchy in the foodi..
Did You figure out why? I just got one. Looking for all tips lol
I use sous vide then the sear function in my foodi. Steak comes out tender and juicy
Why didn't you use a different utensil for taste testing?Do you also double dip?
If he's the only one eating then double dipping is fine
I have pan an oven and a grill. Why do I need this ?
