I used to love this song when I was in college, back in 1997 - my boyfriend at the time gave me this old DMB bootleg tape with this song and Angel from Montgomery, so awesome, great to find it here!
I've only recently become a fan (first show 09') but have listened to damn near everything they have released from day one. The advancement of their songs has been an incredible journey. The beginning was obviously special but the culmination of their talents have combined to some of the greatest shows I've ever seen! I envy you early fans who had the opportunity to experience the growth first hand but you gotta admit that now, in their prime, they have it mastered!
Thank you for posting Fan! I smile daily when I play this, starting to get burnt out with the same ol setlists then I find this gem.... It's like being back in the early '90's again!!!! 2 thumbs up!!!!!
@@jasongreen6625 I hope the shows were awesome! Got to see them once this summer and Dave opened with Spoon, so that was pretty awesome. Do you know if Dave and the band are on good terms with a Peter Griesar? I had been on about a 25 year hiatus, until last summer in Alpharetta. Prior to that, the last time I saw Dave was probably ‘97 or ‘99. Kind of wild to think I hadn’t seen them in the 2,000’s. While Boyd was greatly missed, I really, REALLY MISSED Leroi and his playing! Dude could play and you could feel it in your soul. RIP Leroi Moore. Anyways, thanks for any information, man!
They won't because most of it was written by the original keyboardist. I think the beginning lyrics went into another song. I think it's typical situation.
It's the counting in the lyrics. I heard this song like 20 years ago, and found this and just had the same thought and then I saw your comment today. Now I'm laughing to myself.
I don't understand DMB. They write these amazing songs and barely play them or forget them. It blows my mind. what a shame. Still love the band but damn, much love for this song
@MrCfort lol good info fellow davehead fan. you can still find Peter playing at miller's. you can actually hit him up for info about dave and when he used to play with him. ive got a live show of them at the bayou in d.c. amaazing.
its Peter Griesar, not Butch Taylor. Peter co wrote the song and the song is based around Peters playing. hence why it hasnt been played sense peter left the band in 93
I couldn't hear anything either. It just sounds like Carter doing the Eh Hee intro on the hi hat.. but if the dmb website had it listed in the setlist, I guess it was played..
I watched the one video up on youtube and can't even hear the People People tease. I was hoping he sang a couple lines of the song. Sounds like maybe he played a couple riffs on guitar. Were you there live?
Is butch the only reason this song never made it? Wth Dave, one of the best songs hands down and it’s lost on a bootleg tape labeled till we dance away….
@DMBrules826 listen dude, DMB is my favorite and too. but if it wasn't for bands like the Beatles we might not have had dmb. the Beatles had this biggest impact ever in the music world. so im not saying your wrong, because i think they are the greatest too, butt i hope you dont think they aren't great.
dave I told off Charles he's a biggest jumbi of all him and mullen are making me so sad,i have to stay upbeat and in the light with your voice that's rocks my soul to kingdom come you are beautiful and your voice transends everything, watchtower is so hot! you are smok'in babe-our families are a strange thing, my dad has forsaken me,but he's still around, people people makes me wonder why he doesn't pick up the love vibe,he needs a concert ,I needa concert and some LOVE MAN_your love is the music ,so is mine ,I want to sing like Aretha and james brown boston 1974 garden or so,its hot she's all soul
+Sue Maguire wrong, this was co written with original founding member Peter Greisar and only performed with him on keys before leaving the band in 93'. Not Butch.
can't replace the soul in that sax.. rip
Love this song...cant believe in all the years we've been fans, that this song was never played....I say re-introduce it on a new album...please!
I come back to this song once a year for 10 years
I used to love this song when I was in college, back in 1997 - my boyfriend at the time gave me this old DMB bootleg tape with this song and Angel from Montgomery, so awesome, great to find it here!
Hollin Calloway
I’ve never heard this song in my life before.
I will forever think of an old flame when I hear this song because she made a CD with DMB tracks like this on it.
Excellent song and an even better recording. This belongs on an album someday. 🤞🏻🤞🏻
wonderful to see that someone has preserved this song. I remember listening to, and loving, this song over 15 years ago. fantastic.
Wow, Im a huge DMB fan but Ive never heard this song till now. Outstanding, one of their most beautiful songs. Thanks!!!
Thanks for sharing your rare gems. Nice to hear something new to me.😊
Love DMB and big fan of Genesis, as well. I've always thought to myself that this song was Phil Collinsesque. Just another rarity and classic !!!
amazing . my favorite version. this was new years 92 into 93 if I remember correctly ..man.. 92 and 93 were such an amazing time for this band

Yes Indeed 😉

What a damn shame this song will never be played again.
It doesn't get any better than this. Beautiful! Simply beautiful!
It's Peter Griesar on keys. He and Dave co-wrote the song, and when Peter left the band, they stopped playing it. Pretty unlikely it ever returns
Can you imagine if it was teased someday. People would lose their minds.
@@Jmanrocks321that was 8 years ago. Wonder is OP is still arounding.
I believe it was teased at 25:10 on 6.1.24
Of course I'm still around. 3 shows coming up in July!

Wow. Where has this been hiding for 20 years?
RIP LeRoi Moore, that was some amazing stuff
What a gem 💎 it is great thank you very much ✌️
seven tumbling oceans surround the ground that I dance upon.
Ive listened to this 45 times today. How do we get DMB to re-record this!?! Someone text Carter!!!
Same. And I don't mind at all.
They won't because most of it was written by the original keyboardist. I think the beginning lyrics went into another song. I think it's typical situation.
I wish they would bring this song back. I really do. Its one of DMB's best unreleased songs. Imagine Dave and Time doing this song...OMG.
One of their best songs.
Agree, this song is amazing ....got me the first time i heard it like 10 years ago
RIP Leroi Moore 🎷
I love the pictures especially the first one.
I love this song, reminds me of my youth
This song is beyond GREAT!!!!
I love it...I too wonder where its from...... i cant wait to see them this summer!

Need to get this song on the next album or at least played live sometime.
I was there for that one! :)
This is such a great song!! They need to release it!!
wow...love this song...
So much reminds me of Typical.
It's the counting in the lyrics. I heard this song like 20 years ago, and found this and just had the same thought and then I saw your comment today. Now I'm laughing to myself.
I love the syncopation.

So nice....miss LeRoi!
fascinating song
Awesome
awesome song! i'm going to miss the sweet sound of leroi on the sax.
seven tumbling oceans surround the ground that i dance upon...
LOVE THIS!!!
Hearts and Hugs always....
Stefan teased it a few years ago!!! Hopefullly it will be on a future album produced by Lillywhite!!!! eeeeeeeee!!!!!
I don't understand DMB. They write these amazing songs and barely play them or forget them. It blows my mind. what a shame. Still love the band but damn, much love for this song
not a Dave song..It was written by Peter Greaser, the original keyboardist of DMB in 91..
I’m sure not playing the song has something to do with respect for Peter and nothing to do with “forgetting” about it...
love it
Love this.
Thank You.
awesome little tease 2nite!!!! hopefully full song 12/12/12!!!!!
Existance is so much easier because of music like this.
cold blooded song, i dig this tasty burger
@MrCfort lol good info fellow davehead fan. you can still find Peter playing at miller's. you can actually hit him up for info about dave and when he used to play with him. ive got a live show of them at the bayou in d.c. amaazing.
@Dagreenmanator dave has publicly said this song would never be played without Butch, he said it was "his song" Sucks, it is one of my faves
miss spotlight !!
People, People for SPAC 2010!!!!
theres a little snippet of piano in the beggining thats missing and thats my favourite part :P
Damn this is hard.
maybe dave should listen to the "people people" and rerecord these songs and make a new album out of them.
Sad that it cuts off right before the end.
LeRoi sound fricken Awesome!
its Peter Griesar, not Butch Taylor. Peter co wrote the song and the song is based around Peters playing. hence why it hasnt been played sense peter left the band in 93
I actually know Peter and he did not write one lyric to this song. Just an FYI. 😊
♡
Man do we miss LeRoi Moore

widespreadmusic I question the tease too Dmb almanac does confirm
Is butch the only reason this song never made it? Wth Dave, one of the best songs hands down and it’s lost on a bootleg tape labeled till we dance away….
It was written or co-written by Peter G, original DMB keys, seems like a copyright thing, unfortunate-it's just so beautiful
still fukn good
Now go listen to Dave Matthews - Redemption Song and then tell me after the video of tonight surfaces what it actually sounded like.
Yup
Yes yes, my bad. dont know how I got them mixed up
The original 5....We.miss LeRoi ...... Butch was on keys....not pictured ?
+Sue Maguire Not Butch. Way before Butch's time. Local CVille guy named Peter. Google him, interesting story. Quit the band before they got famous.
Peter who wrote this please?
Leroi… wow.
@RantingThespian Yeah I know, very unfortunate.
this is peter on the piano. hasnt been played since he left the band
1.26.1993 performance?
I don't think so
has a typical situation feel...
good golly

that isnt butch... that Peter Griesar
Where was this recorded?
where can i get this song?
Peter Griesar sounds like Brent Mydland Here.
@wildgrem Only if Peter comes back, and that will not happen.
that doesnt tell me how i can download it
I hoped s.o. had appreciated Tommy Bolin with this title ...
kinda has the same feel as blue water.
beautiful. A little harmony issues by Carter...a little dissonance there. But good otherwise.
Some one else Co-wrote this song.
Peter greisard
sounds like digging a ditch
Thats not Butch
butch on the keys
+Sue Maguire Peter Griesar on keys
+Sue Maguire wrong, this was co written with original founding member Peter Greisar and only performed with him on keys before leaving the band in 93'. Not Butch.
First spin on this song... Wow.. Ty..kinda what I needed this long night turned to day...
Who gave this a thumb down? Come on people. I love this song
