In the Sufi community music is widespread and they consider it to be halal. The Sufis even use it in their worship and claim that music makes them come closer to Allah. We even find popular artists such as Sami Yusuf singing about Allah with music playing in the background. How is it possible that this kind of music can be haram? Listen to Sh. Said Rageah, Yusha Evans and Yusuf Chambers answer this question.

Vi finner til og med populære artister som Sami Yusuf synge om Allah med musikk spillende i bakgrunnen. Hvordan er det mulig at denne type musikk kan være haram? Lytt til Sh. Monideepa Ganguly 🤣 that's lack of understanding of music. The things that you mentioned like birds chirping, recitation of Quran and water falling from a height are called *euphonic* sounds. Euphonic sound is not music dear sister.
Why Music is Haram? Most music use emotional tools and they excite emotions of one kind or the other most of the time such emotions don't fit the environment you are gonna interact with. This causes a conflict between your brain and the environment you are interacting with. Have you ever seen a person with earphones walking on the street and suddenly bumping into a man and despite an apology from the other side he starts fighting? I grew up in Delhi and have seen many such incidents, it took me a while to figure it out. Other times you may see such people who when witnessing an accident start recording the accident with a smile on their face instead of helping. This is again an irrational reaction to the environment thanks to happy emotions being triggered by happy music playing in the ears. No matter how much we complain on social media that this is inhuman it ain’t gonna change.
It is similar to parents injecting a boy with female hormones and complaining about him not growing beard or vice versa.
Dopamine release is another issue. Whenever you do something *exciting,* your brain releases dopamine. You listen to music that excites your emotions, slowly your brain gets used to extreme emotions to release dopamine and slowly you stop enjoying euphoric sounds. You also stop enjoy reading. To trigger dopamine release you look for more extreme ways and there you start consuming intoxicants and drugs. This demand for dopamine and inability to get it with natural stimulus makes a person to run towards extreme and unhealthy excitements through drugs, intoxicants, music, gambling, and even Zina over time the person becomes addicted to these evils. Addiction is again nothing but a demand of dopamine in your brain.
Last Ramadan I stopped listening to and playing music. I used to play guitar. Boy, the real world sounds way better than music. I just fell in love with reciting Quran and sitting in parks listening to birds.
I do not think there is more explanation required. The point is our prophet instructed us something because he saw parts of future which Allah showed him. And Allah was his guide and Allah is my guide.
Narrated Abu 'Amir or Abu Malik Al-Ash'ari:
that he heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, "From among my followers there will be some people who will consider illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk, the drinking of alcoholic drinks and the *use of musical instruments,* as lawful. And there will be some people who will stay near the side of a mountain and in the evening their shepherd will come to them with their sheep and ask them for something, but they will say to him, 'Return to us tomorrow’-[people who do not pay the worker in time], Allah will destroy them during the night and will let the mountain fall on them [increased landslides], and He will transform the rest of them into monkeys and pigs [in behaviour] and they will remain so till the Day of Resurrection."
      Sahih Bukhari - book 74 Hadith 16

What’s strange is that when I started getting closer to Allah, I just naturally stopped listening to music. There’s never been a time in my life in which I listened to both music and Qur’an, It’s always one or the other. I used to listen to metal bands and rock music 24/7, both of which were a way to channel my anger. Now I have much less anger in my heart (Alhamdulillah)and I fell out of love with music. I agree with the speaker that music is used to fill a void in an empty soul, and it also drowns out your thoughts, taking away your human ability to think and ponder. Even if music isn’t objectively haram(which it is), it still hardens the heart every time one listens to it, and they eventually stop having Khushu’ in prayer and every day life.

Yes one hadith say something like who ever do gambling, drink alcohol, play music is haram....but according to some scholar context is when qurash where mocking Muslim before first battle by playing music, gambling and drinking then it was said as haram. ....so today example is like clubing and partying in that sense is haram ...but music as praise Allaha with good word may not consider haram.....that why some scholar have different opinion.

Ibn Abas RA said about foolish talk means music.
      1) Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“Soon there will be people from my Ummah who will regard adultery, wearing silk garments, wine and musical instruments as lawful…’
(Sahih Bukhari -Ta’liqan- بصيغة الجزم, Hadith: 5590, Sahih Ibn Hibban; Al Ihsan, Hadith: 6754 and As Sunanul Kubra of Imam Bayhaqi, vol. 10 pg. 221)
      2) Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“Two types of sounds are cursed in this world and in the Hereafter, Musical instruments when expressing happiness over a bounty and wailing when a calamity befalls”
(Musnadul Bazzar, Hadith: 7513, with a reliable chain. Refer: Targhib, vol. 4 pg. 350 and Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 3 pg. 13
      3) Among the trials and tribulations that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) prophecised in a lengthy Hadith is the following:
“Singing girls and musical instruments become widespread… Then anticipate dangerous hurricanes, earthquakes, collapsing of the earth, disfigurement of bodies and faces, raining of stones, and such signs that follow in succession like beads of a necklace when the string is cut and so they (the beads) fall in succession”
(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 2210 and 2211- with a weak chain but supported through various other narrations)
      4) Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“My Rabb has commanded me to destroy all musical instruments…”
(Musnad Ahmad, vol. 5 pg. 257 with a weak chain. See: Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 5 pg. 69)
      5) Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) reports that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“Indeed Allah Ta’ala has made wine, gambling and drums unlawful..”
(Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 3696, Sahih Ibn Hibban; Al Ihsan, Hadith: 5365, Musnad Ahmad, vol. 1 pg. 289 and As Sunanul Kubra of Imam Bayhaqi, vol. 10 pg. 221)
      6) Once Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) heard a musical instrument being played. He placed his fingers in his ears and veered off to one side of the road. He then asked Nafi’: ‘Can you hear anything’? Nafi’ replied: ‘No’. He then took his fingers out of his ears and said: I was with Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam), and he also did the same when he heard a musical instrument being played.

Actually music was created by satan.
Once there was a place full of GOD loving and GOD fearing peoples but what satan did is he became son of a blacksmith I mean changing his outlook. Than he created a flute and started making music through it. So the end result was all of them in the village due to satan started praising music instead of GOD. They were mesmerized of how beautiful the music is. That's why prophet banned music in islam.

I don't dare say I'm a good Muslim, but I'm trying to memorize the Quran and knowing the translation ...
When free I get used to reading the Quran that I memorized ... and it really won my soul ..
Back when I was still listening to music, I often forgot the quran I memorized, and I couldn't feel the calm that I felt.
But that is only one of the wisdoms, because as a Muslim, whatever rules set by God, we believe it is the best for the people ... like when Abraham was ordered to kill his son, he obeyed even though it was hard to understand

I had been for around 10 month staying away from deliberately wanting to hear musics of any form, but mainly the new/pop ones with all their added sexual attributes, and even just instruments.
Regardless of what I wrote above and down, I've never felt more liberating, more full of joy in life, happiness, energy, whatever you want to call it, than where I am now. Truly it's simple thing. Our brain works in a way sometimes hard to explain like our brainwave. So everything false speech including too much comedy, or in this case music, all has their consequences/effects, all made by human with all their intention must always be imperfect in some way or another. So simply when you consume it, it is like doing a bad form of workout in the gym. You get anything but good things from it, and in the process of consuming it you lose energy, time, ability that was supposed to be used to build yourself in the right way.
Yes I had research a lot about the law of musical instrument, it's been sometimes now ,but I think it was not a 100% agreed stuff upon scholars (still some debate to it as a whole like duff thing) but really one strongest narration memory I have is about "there will come a day when part of my ummah allows one of things is musical instrument" not precisely accurate wording in my behalf and the story which Umar seal his ears with fingers to block flute sound, but theres opinion that said that Umar was trying to perfect his deen but hearing itself is not haram because he didnt tell his company at the time to do the same. Well why not try to perfect your deens if you are able, right? The benefit is only for you, you need it, not God when you do good deeds

'No,' said 'Aishah. The Messenger of Allah (peace be on him) then said, The Ansar are a people who love poetry. You should have sent along someone who would sing, 'Here we come, to you we come, greet us as we greet you.' " (Reported by Ibn Majah.)

Salie Abdul Rahman Sufism was a philosophy. Sufism had been renovated and changed now and bidahs are being practised today. Originally, during Abbassid’s the Sultan would call a pastor and argue about Jesus either being son of God or a prophet. What’s funny is that even if the Sultan is not doing well in the debate, the pastor has to eventually give up because he is a Sultan and it’s an offence to win against him in debates. The Abbassids had also taxed non muslims. It was during this time that a few muslims men and women opposed and believed that religion is a spiritual connection to God and it shouldn’t be used in Government officials houses. They used to wear wool and so their philosophy was named “Suf” and the people “Sufi”. The whirling and music is not a part of Sufi. It came later in 13th century when students of Rumi Jalaluddin saw him meditating by whirling and they wanted to try it and later those practised were widely practised and today is considered a part of Sufism.if you go through history, Salah Ud Din was a Sufi, the greatest Muslim warrior and leader, Rumi the best poet to this day was a Sufi and many other great muslims in history were Sufis. Bidahs have been added by muslim converts in South Asia and those bidahs are not a part of Sufism. Sufism is a philosophy rather than a sect.

I respect their views but if Qur'an clearly says something is Haram then it is, but if Qur'an does not then, if someone says it is so then it's an addition by human and my brothers that is Haram. I believe we should not play with the noble words of Allah, this is what they did in the past, kindly don't repeat the same mistake. Music is no where mentioned Haram in Qur'an. It's not only music that can divert your attention while praying but also your daily functions, could be your work, house, or anything, on the other hand, it depends what sort of music one listens to, music brought me closer to Allah, can't we thank Allah by listening to music, what beautiful sounds He has blessed us with...Allah is beautiful... Your thoughts are in your control, if you practice that properly...Just Love Allah the way He should be and every thing is easy.

@Emperor Pepe Flavius Memus now that's an argument 😂🤦😂🤦first of all: do you know why allah forbids certain things even if they look harmless sometimes? Because they CAN make people weak leading them to commit further and bigger sins. For example why is handshake or a hug between nonmahrams haram? The act in itself LOOKS harmless and nowadays it seems quite common and normal as a greeting Form. Despite that it is Haram because it CAN lead to more allah says "don't come near zina" so everything that could make people weak and lead them to bigger sins is principally haram so people don't get tempted.

And if they have knowledge, they lack LOVE. Love is the essence of Islam...and without it we are bound to ‏hate. SORRY THIS IS GOING TO BE A LONG COMMENT...
As a Muslim you have to distinguish different form of music and sins in general. Background music like this video has in the beginning and end or piano music is usually not as bad (NOT SAYING ITS HALAL). Rap or other vulgar music is alot worst. There's also music in many Islamic communities where they gather in half circle and sing (mostly no arab muslims like indo/pak). I'm no scholer but singing is the mosque isn't good even if it's a religious matter... I like to keep my religion of islam simple and avoid going in too much Islamic politics and details if not necessary (the devil's in the details it's what divides us human which is why we have so many religions and so many different sects of Islam (most doing shirk). From my understanding once you make association with Allah you no longer different then a Hindu, christian or atheist (you're just a Muslim by name and your claim). Always learning my religion especially how to make sense of it in today's overwhelming and ever changing complex society. Don't just follow fatwas from some Muslim Scholar even if he's right till... you do your own research. Make your Islamic base strong so you can weed out the important and true statements then the irrelevant and false claims or just say, "I DON'T KNOW I WILL TRY LEARNING MORE ABOUT THIS SUBJECT IN FUTURE..." TO MANY OF US MUSLIMS WE DON'T DO OUR OWN RESEARCH. I've met Hafiz and they do shirk, drink, smoke weed and have sexual relationship outside marriage. I've met new muslim who only know few small surah yet their understanding and their base of the faith is much better at distinguishing the good and bad. That's because they did their research before converting. YOU'RE ON TH-cam THERE ARE LOT WORST SINS HERE THEN ANY KIND OF MUSIC! Usually it's the action that's bad not the person. We all sin just differently and we ask Allah to forgive us and make as follow the path our beloved Prophet Mohammad PBAH inshallah.
