A Message from Imam Ibrahim Bakeer: "Assalamu Alaikum dear brothers and sisters. This is Imam Bakeer. I want to clarify that my approach in this interview with respected Scholar Yasser Qadhi was to (represent opposing views for the sake of a constructive dialogue). My deepest respect goes out to him, and I align with a-lot of his opinions. I apologize if my demeanor and interrupts weren’t proper. I love and respect YQ he is my so close friend, and I consider him as one of the top knowledgeable scholars in the US. JazakAllah Khair."
I listen to music from my Afghan culture and some American music, but none of them are lewd, theres no cursing and alcohol involved or girls dancing. But I limit myself daily, and I rather and prefer and give preference to listening to the Holy Quran 1000% more.
Saying music is haram is like saying art is haram. Music is such a broad category and cannot be categorically banned. Specific aspects like lewd lyrics or sounds should be specified and separated from the debate. JAK for the good discussion.
sh. ibrahim needs to practice some adab of conversations.he keeps speaking over sh. yasir. allow the man to finish before speaking! really v irritating
As Salam alaykoum. I don't understand your comment. Beating around the bush is for when someone doesn't have anything or much to explain and to bring to the discussion. On the contrary the Cheikh had many nuances to bring in his explanation and it was very rich and interesting You should probably delete your comment since its false.

I remember music (punk/rock/ballads) giving me very strong emotions when I was young but truly nothing beats Al-Quran al kareem these days.

InshaAllah you'll see an improvement in deen when you give it up completely. Regardless of whether one thinks it's haram or halal

Insyallah to everyone who makes the Day of Judgement their preferred destination too. May we become better Muslims.

Huh! The difference of Islam and other traditions was always that our songs had no musical instruments until the singers became modern and western
