Is Music Really Haram? The Sad Reality of Today's Music.

  • So many of us spend our days fighting over whether or not music is permissible or not, we engage in debates and arguments over the permissibility of instruments, singing, beatboxing etc.
The fact of the matter is, we are well beyond these debates. We have Muslims listening to the worst of music today, to the extent that if we were to remove the instruments entirely, the vocals themselves would still be well beyond sinful.
This video is not to continue the endless debate on music, but rather shed light on the shameless reality of mainstream music today and how cautious we should be to avoid granting it access to our ears.
Allah has given us the Quran, His Noble Book, which He describes as a "healing" and a source of "mercy", so why not find our solace in it instead?
    May Allah protect us all.

I agree one should be careful stating something as halal or haram. When I was researching it, I did struggle to find full conclusive evidence that it is haram, in my opinion, although I was definitely open to that being the case. Theres some a hadith that indicate that in some instances the Prophet pbuh allowed it, and obviously some which seem to prohibit it. But then the ulama know better than I do. Its a difficult one. I gave it up for the most part in the end.
The only thing id say though, there was a time where I couldn't picture giving up music, but actually having gone without it I feel much better for various reasons. Its not as difficult as you might think. The best thing you can do is replace the music app off your dock with the Quran. If it stops you listening to music then you should definitely consider quiting it.

I am a musician and it was a huge issue for me when I was considering converting to Islam. I must have read a million websites, watched a thousand videos and ask dozens of people about the issue of music being haram. The opinions are split, but the general consensus is something like this: music itself is not evil - the bad behaviors it can bring are. In many ways bad music can be a gateway to stuff like drugs, excessive drinking, mindless sex, and an empty lifestyle. The contents of particular music are important. If the song is about sex, drugs, Rolex watches and pimping, of course it's gonna be haram, because the piece of music promotes a destructive, selfish and materialistic way of life. However, music that is soothing and makes you think doesn't cause any spiritual damage, it can even make you grow. I heard Islamic scholars say that classical music is able to make you feel and realize things you were previously unaware of, it can enrich you as a person. There are a lot Muslims who perform music, there even are rappers who rap about the Prophet (pbuh). The bottom line is that music (or anything else for that matter) shouldn't be an obstacle in performing your religious obligations. If you pray, live a decent life in accordance with the principles of your faith, take part in community life and so on, you won't be hurt by music. Just don't listen to trash music made for brainless consumers, don't sell out to the lifestyle pop or rock music are promoting. And let's be perfectly honest about one more thing here: most of the people who attend those edm festivals and go clubbing every night would still be doing drugs, drinking, and having random sex even if they went deaf! It's a lifestyle worth of condemnation regardless of what religion you follow. Doesn't take an Islamic scholar to know that that stuff will destroy you.

Do you ever wonder why there are so many religions out there but the only religion people work so hard to prove wrong and to oppose is Islam? There are a lot of other religions which may seem wrong, and illogical too but from what I see, Islam receives the most opposition.
The more you want to prove it wrong, the more right it is, isn't it? You watch Islamic videos even though you're not a muslim - and then you put comments to prove Islam wrong. What's your point???
You're not a muslim, but you read Quran, trying to prove Islam wrong. What's your point?
You comment on other people's comments, trying to prove their wrong. What's your point?
Why do you have to work so hard to prove Islam wrong? You can just walk away and be like, "OK whatever you know I'm just going to go on with my life. I can just leave muslims as they are, just like how I don't try to prove other buddhists or christians wrong." But you didn't do that, do you? You didn't leave muslims as they are. You go on every Islamic videos on Facebook/ TH-cam and work hard to prove the videos wrong. You go on each comments, and work hard to prove people wrong. What's your point?
Why can't you leave Islam as it is?
Why can't you leave muslims as they are?
Why can't you leave us alone?
Why do you have to work so hard to PROVE ISLAM WRONG?
Because, the truth is, the problem lies in YOURSELF.
There is that little voice inside your head, whispering to you, "Islam sounds like a true religion..." but you hated that voice! You clenched your fists, gritted your teeth, and denied it! You watched Islamic videos and you were close to be convinced, but you shake your head, clearing the images away. You read Islamic comments, and you were close to be convinced, but you bit your lip and yelled, "No!".
The problem lies in yourself. YOU WANT TO PROVE ISLAM WRONG BECAUSE YOU DON'T WANT TO BE CONVINCED THAT ISLAM /IS/ THE TRUE RELIGION. Your ego, man. Your ego..
edit:I will not feed your trolls!!

Allan Marinho what are you talking about life being haram? And killing people to stop them being haram? You really don’t get the point of religion. Most religions believe that this life is a test and we try to commit as little sin as we can. Obviously some go astray and commit lots but there hasn’t been anyone that hasn’t gotten any sins at all except for the prophets. Yes I agree that living in this world can lead to murder and other crimes but it’s about stopping yourself from getting to that point. It links to the littlest sins that build and build into greater sins which can lead to such extreme cases such as murder, rape etc

    • @bintassiyah5849
      @bintassiyah5849 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Madhurjo Mehnaz If you miss fajr purposely that’s a major sin. But if you had forgotten or had sunk into oblivion as soon as you wake up and remember it you should directly pray fajr.

    • @bintassiyah5849
      @bintassiyah5849 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Madhurjo Mehnaz When you miss a prayer unintentionally, for a legitimate shar’i excuse, such as forgetting or sleeping, although you are basically very keen to perform the prayer on time. In this case you are excused but you have to make it up as soon as you remember it. The evidence for that is the hadeeth narrated in Saheeh Muslim (681) which tells how the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and his companions slept and missed Fajr prayer, and the Sahaabah began to ask one another, “What is the expiation (kafaarah) for what we have done by neglecting the prayer?” The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said. “Sleeping does not mean that you are neglecting the prayer. Rather neglecting the prayer means not praying one prayer until the time for the next prayer comes. Whoever does that let him pray when he remembers it.”
This does not mean that a person should sleep deliberately when a prayer is due, until he misses it, then use sleep as an excuse, or neglect a means that would help him to do the prayer, and then take that as an excuse

    • @islamicreminders5036
      @islamicreminders5036 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The two Rak'ah before the dawn (Fajr) prayer are better than this world and all it contains."
      [Muslim]
Another narration goes: "The two Rak'ah before the dawn (Fajr) prayer are dearer to me than the whole world."
      Sunnah.com reference : Book 9, Hadith 112
If Sunnah prayer before Fajr is of such a virtue, what about the actual Fajr prayer? SubhanAllah!

You are here to give a test and listening to even clean music wastes a lot of time ,you could have done so much of Zikr or remembered GOD basically.
So let's try our level best not to listen to any kind of music and devoting that time to ask for repentance and an increase in our Iman.

I grew up in a family of musicians, my dad was a musician for the most of his life before converting to Islam. Throughout my high school years I listened to music non stop. When I slept, when I read, when I cleaned, when I went to school, when I did homework, when I showered....etc. It was FILLING every bit of silence in my life. I'm-even to this day- the type of person that you hear say "I love music more than anything else", senior year of high school I decided that I would read the Quran's transilaion and then soon after started praying regularly and lessening the music and media consumption in my life. You cannot believe how much it has changed me. I have space to think now. Ironic to explain this with a song but in Car Radio by TØP and it's about someone who had his car radio stolen so now he has to think about his feelings and life and the like of it.
Allah know how hard it is for me, even today 4 years later I struggle everyday because of music. When I'm sad i try to go to Quran instead of songs, when i want to sing i try to say athkar.
Mine was a music addiction, is an addiction still. One that I have to fight against every day. It's not easy to fight against urges. People have them differently. Wherein Hijab, fasting, prayer is not difficult for me, staying away from music is. I came here so that maybe I could read some comments and gain strength from others. If you're fighting haram urges, know that it is hard yes, but worth it. Know that Allah sees your struggle and will reward you. And do read the Quran because sometimes some verses feel like they've been precisely put there to sooth you. It'll be cathartic I promise.

Once upon a time, I was the biggest music addict. I used to be known as : the girl with the headphones on. Walking to school , and coming back, and sometimes inside the classroom : I listented to music. There wasn't a person that knew me didn't hear me sing. I was addicted.
In the outside: there was nothing missing in my life : good health , good family, good studies, and nearly everything I wish for was to come. And yet, I wasn't alright. I was stressed, anxious, sad and almost fell into depression. It was music . Music made me feel like I'm living situations that didn't exist, I used to live inside every single song, and be as depressed as the lyrics of the song were.
One day, I said to myself: hey listen, u're young and ur life just started, ur supposed to be a beautiful butterfly , not an old weak worm feeding on depression .
So yes, I deleted all my playlist of songs, and replaced it with beautiful recitations, and beautiful nasheeds. Some beautiful changes came to my life : I succeeded to wear a full hidjab, and stopped some sins that I was doing. The impact is undeniable.
I also memorized a lot of suraate just by listening to them . That's what pushed me to start memorizing Coraan reguraly.
If you are honest to yourself, and wanting to do good and stay away from what can harm you, guidance will surely come to you from Allah swt.

I am a bathroom singer's daughter. I got really nice voice and so did my other 3 siblings. I used to listen to music a lotttttt. And sing every second, so did my siblings. There was always music at our home. Not a single day would pass for us without hearning to music. But Alhumdulillah, by Allah's Reham, i stopped hearing to music, my brother did too, and my younger sister is trying. But my dad plays his guitar every single day, my elder sister always plays loud music. Though my mom listens to music too, Allahumdulillah she understands me. It is very difficult for a singer to quit songs and music. Whenever i want to listen to songs, i go to youtube and listen to the Qur'an recitations. May Allah help me and the people who r trying to be better muslims. May Allah guide all of us to the truth.
But i still have doubts. I always hated pop music and always prefered light music. I would almost never listen to pop music. Y cant i just listen to those smooth light musics?

Are you expecting cheap mercy on Resurrection Day?
      The Almighty cannot-will never-be Less-Than-Fully-Just,
simply handing out mercy on Resurrection Day.
He will NEVER violate one part of His nature (Perfect Justice)
to accept even your most sincere repentance and good deeds,
which are STILL utterly imperfect before His
      Absolute Justice, Holiness and Purity,
because Justice without punishment for sin is INJUSTICE.
This is why the Almighty Himself
could only provide the perfect payment
your sin demands-so you can get mercy
and He remains Perfectly Just because,
mercy without punishment for sin is INJUSTICE.
The Almighty will never be unjust to give you mercy despite the claims of Islam.
Repent of trusting in the teachings of Islam-
you can never do enough good deeds to get mercy for even one sin.
      Begin trusting that Jesus obediently,
and to prove His great love for you,
willingly took the punishment your sins deserved on His cross,
making the only payment for your sins ***perfect enough***
the Almighty Father in Heaven CAN accept.

its not haram beased on what you think your opinion is.. Haram it whatever is harmful to your self or influence. but MUSIC its self is not. there is good music with a good meanings. you can say the same to guns and cars. and if you think you are being brain washed then you are the problem not the music since you ALLOWED such a thing to happen to you.
dont say haram this and that just because...
