Decipher es el segundo álbum de la banda de metal gótico, After Forever. Este álbum cuenta con doce canciones de corte bastante melódico y con las voces soprano en alto estado de evolución, resulta un gran álbum para el movimiento de metal gótico, ya que cuenta con temas líricos acordes, además de una elaborada música, combinación de fuerza, guturales y la hermosa voz de la soprano. Este es el último álbum donde participa Mark Jansen antes de retirarse de la banda por diferencias creativas con el resto de los miembros.

@@Ran93024 Not quite, the guitarist Mark Jansen went on to form Epica in 2002, while Floor and Joost created Revamp in 2009 after the band disbanded.
@@ampmu6318 in 2007 things started to become difficult within the band and in 2008 they all took a sabbatical. Sadly, one year later 2009, they decided that it was "beyond repairing the vehicle" and they decided to stop.
This band breaking up essentially gave us floor w nightwish AND epica..so
kyle staples Gave us The Dark Element and Tarja amazing career everything worked in the end. Things may be tough on others but I’m glad everything came to a conclusion and end beautifully

Even when Floor was in After forever, I was like if somthing happens it would be cool if she was in Nightwish, and then next thing you know she's in Nightwish nowadays, I couldn't be happier for her, Floor totally deserves it too, because like both bands she is Very Talented!!!

New Nightwish fan (3mths.). Here to check out some of Floor's previous bands. I'm embarrassed that North America hasn't gone crazy for Nightwish especially now that Floor is their lead singer. What an incredible talent Floor is. Her vocal ability, even in her early 20s, crushes anything I've ever heard, even now. She probably even wrote this too. Insanely talented!
The Netherlands has quite a few bands like this. You should check out Epica, Autumn, Ex Libris, Delain and Nemesea.

So I really got into the whole Dutch symphonic metal scene (same time I discovered Nightwish) in the early 00s, and After Forever was my favourite, hands down. They were a bit more prog than their contemporaries, but mostly because of Floor. Tarja had the more accomplished operatic voice for sure, and Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation) and Simone Simons (Epica) were also good, but Floor was my favourite. She's versatile, powerful, had the whole goth-Amazon image going on, and really presented herself as the band's frontwoman. I got to see AF on their last North American tour before they broke up and they were fantastic. I'm glad Floor carried on and eventually joined one of my other favourite bands, but I haven't had a chance to see Nightwish since she joined. Hopefully next tour!
All we get in the U.S. is pop pablum.

2022 still listening....now that Floor is at her' peak' i go back and listen to what i used to listen on the beginning of the '00's....
I admire this bands (and epica and within temptation and Thereon) dedication to this genre of music. They defrosted classic music. The elitists had frozen classical music and sucked out all creativity and turned music into an exersise stuck on repeat. Musicians like these saved it from beeing frozen and brought it back to the flow of times.

This was the very first song I heard from After Forever and I remember my ex-significant other and I looking at each other with our jaws on the floor...no pun intended. We replayed this several times just to make sure we weren't dreaming, lol. We both had to find everything by the band that was available at the time.
Here as part of my celebration of Floor's birthday. Dude. This was incredible. And it actually had very good sound quality, such a rarity. *sigh* This makes me miss Metal! Floor even more now.

Interesting that Floor wrote this. It's very Nightwishy. If you sub in Tuomas' keyboards for the line the violinist is playing, it would sound even moreso.
it's totally the other way around. When I first heard nightwish with her in the vocals, the first thing I though was how she made it sound a bit like After Forever.
she wrote the lyrics, but according to the credits, Mark Jansen and Sander Gommans were the primary composers for the music for this song.

Ik ben opgegroeid met new wave/progressive rock (U2/Simple Minds/The Cure en later Nirvana/Pearl Jam en Radiohead), loop dus al wat jaartjes mee, maar heb stom genoeg metal altijd links laten liggen (op Metallica na, daar heb ik wel alle CD's van). Ik vond metal op zich wel goed, totdat de doorsnee metal zanger zijn strot opendeed. Dan haakte ik af, vond die hoge schreeuwerige mannenstemmen helemaal niks terwijl ik de muziek wel goed vond.
En dan kom je ineens Floor Jansen tegen, holy crap. :-) Veel te laat natuurlijk maar beter laat dan nooit.
