We access the tremors in some Tai Chi methods.. you actually get through it after a few years usually it kinda stops, you burn through the bulk of tension and trauma. However it's a little more complicated to access, it's great that mr Berceli made it so accessible to everyone, with no training required. Such a beautiful human being too.

I would say that TRE was a great ally on the awakening journey for me. Trauma trapped in the tissue and nervous system holds the beingness hostage. Ego is constructed of sanskaras, conditioning and trauma- so releasing trauma is a large part of releasing the limited ego identity.
TRE and Bodywork are profound for transformation. ❤️🌳

I stumbled across that 'shaking' thing years ago, after doing my own, makeshift, Vipassana retreat at home for 10 days. It started after several days of meditation, a slight head tremor, and I had no idea what it was; but I just let it happen because it didn't seem to do any harm. It would happen every so often for the few months following the meditations. Interesting to hear about it here.
Anyway, I totally expected to not be very interested in this interview or the most recent interview with the guy who was involved with The Work.... Proven wrong on both counts.

Fantastic Interview! I found out about TRE through your interview with Chris that I watched early this year. I went to a certified provider for my first time in February just to make sure I was doing it the right way, but after that have been doing it on my own between 1 and 5 days per week - 15-20 minutes each session. I can't confirm exactly what it has done, it's not been some magic de-traumatizer that's changed my entire personality overnight, and I've also been doing a lot more meditation and inquiry during this period, so it's a bit hard to separate the two in terms of any theoretical effects. But I do feel generally more relaxed, less reactive, and maybe even more in touch with my body now than I did 6 months ago. And hey, it's enjoyable to do regardless!
I also feel like I have a lot of embedded tension, if not "trauma" from childhood events as well as life circumstances in adolescence and even later years. Nothing like a war zone or abuse, but my dad died when I was nine and I was very closed off emotionally ever since. And maybe because of that, I'm very much "in my head" not very in touch with my emotions, and that's a big reason TRE appealed to me personally - I thought this would be a great thing for me to try out as a way to heal these old areas that I might be too "guarded" to deal with on deeper emotional level - or at least start opening myself up to connect with my emotions more. And you know, I do feel like that I've made progress in that area recently, so maybe it has helped?
Funny enough, I actually listened to part of this interview while doing TRE, hahah. And it's way later than I normally do it - 8:30pm, so I'll see if it does indeed keep me up way past my bedtime tonight! 🤣

    • @flyingsneetch
      @flyingsneetch ปีที่แล้ว +3

Awesome! If it's ok, I'd like to offer a little tip to help you see how TRE is helping you, and to get more out of it. You might find it helpful to take notes about your tremoring process (like how you feel just before and then just after a session, and the next day). Amongst other things, taking notes will help you integrate the process by bringing into conscious awareness the effects you feel (integrate body and mind). The more you do that, the more you will start to automatically notice the state of your nervous system and it will help bring your awareness more into the body generally. It will also help you get an overall picture of how it's affecting you because you'll be able to see how you felt afterwards compared to before - in my experience, this also has a kind of unconscious motivational benefit, because you'll probably see a general trend where you do TRE and the next day you're feeling good, for example. If you see it's going in the wrong direction, you can adjust by doing a little less at a time. As David said, in that case, your body needs more time to integrate between sessions, or you need to do shorter sessions at first. :)

13:50 The lack of pretense in working with many homeless people was one of the most wonderful aspects for me. What a privilege, to talk to someone who is making no effort to put up a front, with an open invitation for me to join.

Fascinating conversation, David Berceli & TRE has been central in my life, although it's good for some deeply traumatized individuals to work with a TRE provider, because one has to be able to contain or self regulate if a very jarring traumatic event stored in the body or mind/body releases.
Also think that Dr Gabe Mate is one of the world's leading trauma expert for dealing with the causes of addiction, arrested development and and the relationship of stress and illness.
Now, I am sincerely longing to engage the awakening process fully not just for tastes which have served as a dangling carrot.

Some years back I broke my collarbone while doing martial arts. Friends from the training took me to the emergency. While waiting I started to shake. My first thought was to restrain it, to make myself stop shaking. I said aloud: ' I'm shaking, why am I shaking?' And one of the friends, an ex-soldier said: 'It's just your body processing all the adrenalin you got in your body, it will stop soon'. And hearing him say it made it OK for me to shake, I didn't try to stop it any longer. Long time after that my cat had a well.. traumatic experience :D he got really scarred while outdoors then got into freeze. Some hours after, safely home I thought it was all over and the cat just behaved very cautiously and shy. But it was not over. At night he climbed onto the bed and started shaking! The whole bed rattled so strong he shook, many hours after the event. Despite my own shaking experience I was worried about his shaking and wanted to make him stop. But there was no way so he just shook trough half of the night. He was better the next day. Shaking was a release but I kept seeing it as a problem.

Great interview! After watching the interview with Chris - and doing my first TRE session with the exercises - it was like letting a plug out of a dam. From that point whenever I would sit still and relax, my body would tremor, in bed, meditating, even listening to talks. It is weird! - some of the shaking has been very intense, mostly sitting in meditation occasionally lying down. Better in than out…but it has on occasion felt uncomfortable and disconcerting to outside the box of conventional wisdom - but I guess that’s what this channel is for!

Thank you for this interview/ conversation!
I felt your medical training and curiosity brought a lot to the discussion as well.
Hearing your experience as an anesthesiologist (accidentally? Serendipitously?) validated my child-within's experience of trauma as I was one who underwent many operations from 3 mos onward but cld never find the words for my terrifying experience of being cut, of feeling I was dying/drowning esp as a child etc. An unexpected spurt of tears released with your honesty, as years of inner work cld never quite access the wordless. But this modality is doing so, aided now by your words!
Then the work of Rupert Sheldrake comes up, whose work I quote in my memoir on the energy connection we hold w our beloveds (our dogs and our kids as teachers)! Such odd synchronous lives we all lead!
Thank you for your open heart and your time/work here.

I also feel TRE® is a good precursor for kundalini as it clears out the trauma and contraction in the body making way for the flow of Shakti. When kundalini awakens if you have already had a TRE® practice so much has already been cleared.
TRE® also makes one familiar and comfortable with involuntary movements and sounds that the body makes in releasing. This can make kundalini less shocking - there is already a relationship with the wisdom of the body and an embodied experiential understanding.

    Hi Angelo
I've recently shed the 10th fetter, this morning in fact. I had a 2 hour illuminating conversation with my liberated Dhamma friend (she had 4th path last year, has been integrating since), I realized there's nothing to realize and since then nothing really changed, as nothing changes, cuz there's nothing to change :D
Thing is, I've got severe cPTSD due to extreme religious indoctrination since childbirth, among many other ... dysfunctionalities, and it's the first time in forever I am looking FORWARD to meeting ALL of my trauma!! There's no me, which is dope, now I can simply feel the raw emotions and be done with it.
How does one have a conversation with you? I'd like to solidify this and feel it out, I've had many slight perceptual shifts the past few months, listening to your talks, which I feel culminated to the final moment this morning.
This video is very, very timely, cheers!

David Berceili was certified in Bioenergetics and was at Lowen’s house three times a week over a five year period. Yes, there was some shaking practice in Bioergetics, but Lowen didn’t really understand the body’s tremor mechanism, and it’s importance in nervous system regulation. Both Reich and Lowen put a lot of emphasis on character analysis as part of a psychotherapeutic approach. David’s contribution in body-oriented psychotherapy was to see that we are born with this shaking mechanism, we’ve misunderstood and suppressed it and how to access this ancient tremor mechanism to discharge stress and trauma and let go of the story / interpretation altogether.

Kudalini energy is a misguided term. It's actually the Pure Consciousness expanding itself which can result in a lot of energy being released in the body. Most spiritual teachers don't really understand this and offer all kinds of silly advice when it becomes problematic. There's actually a huge psychological component involved so a theraputic/spiritual approach is needed, most spiritual teachers kind of bypass this and just cause more trouble.

Very nice. I tried TRE but it doesn't work for me, and I don't have access to any paid support on this. I tried it several times, watched different videos. Any ideas, anyone?

@@SimplyAlwaysAwake yes. They don't go further than very minor fatique shake during, for example, wall squats. Not sure what to look for to go into actual tremor...

glad you asked. another suggestion - a few years ago bought on kindle The Revolutionary Trauma Release Process = transcend your toughest times by David Berceli, PhD pub Namaste. The Exercises are all there to enable you to begin to allow the body to tremble, shake. eventually it would be better to have a hard copy, but the very effort of managing the kindle adds to the process; years before that I had done Chi Kung classes and it was common for people to shake holding the postures, then as their chi flowed it reduced and that was that. Such an honour to see David Berceli in person in this interview. thank you

It did absolutely nothing for me. The fact that it hasn't been embraced by the wider somatic traumatology community leads me to think any results are just placebo/wishful thinking. It's just this one guy selling his training courses...

@@MrSimonj1970 Perhaps, and...? I understand that selling your services creates a tone of suspicion for many people, since obviously this can be abused. But in and of itself, it isn't an issue for me, especially without any report or evidence of said abuse. Fortunately or unfortunately people have to make a living in our current society in order to survive. Until you become a renunciate yourself and spend your time just asking others to feed and cloth you out of charity, do you really have the right to begrudge someone the desire to do this by providing a service which there's at least some value in for some people?
I get that you don't believe in its efficacy because you didn't find it useful personally, but deciding on its validity based solely on your own experience and dismissing that of anyone who did find it useful as simply a "placebo effect" seems rather self-centered to me.
Regarding its place within the larger somatic traumatology community, from what I've read, not it's not universally accepted as a valid therapy, it does have its critics and sceptics, but it also has its supporters as well. It's also relatively new, having only started to gain popularity about 20 years ago, while many others have been around since the 70s or 80s, so I would posit that like other fields, it does take time for new therapies to be accepted.
That being said, I'm not going to argue that TRE is necessarily effective for everyone, or that it is more effective than other therapies, or even just as effective. I just feel your statements above were a bit unfair and dismissive, but who knows, they may ultimately prove valid...
