Would a hex bolt be ok for the flange? Thinking of remowing my swingarm to repaint it, tried to brush but not 100 percent satisfied with the result. Thanks for great content.
Hi Francesco, No I don't. The rear drive requires some special tools and precision measurement to get the gear lash correctly set. I currently view this work as reserved for "experts" and have not attempted it.
@@BrooksAirheadGarage ok, thanks. I know the final drive is complicated but is the only peace I still never did....and I want to learn how. Please let me know if you come know anyone who sell those tools. On a different matter, do you know if CycleWorks is still on business?
Hello from good old Germany - the home of the BMWs. A few days ago we worked on the final drive of anBMW R60/6. Francesco, some of your questions may be answered here: th-cam.com/video/QwNpSZrpTXw/w-d-xo.html Not to forget: Respect for your work, Brook.
hamza, You're welcome, I am used to FP (Foot Pound) units. But, conversion from Foot-Pounds to Newton-Meters requires multiplying Foot-Pounds by 1.3 (or 1.36 if you feel you need more accuracy). Or said differently N-m is about 30% larger than Ft-Lbs.
It’s a chance to meet someone like you. Thank you so much.
Why thank you Éric. Enjoy.
You are a Master. Maestro total...
Brilliant once again.
Helpful as always
Thanks Bikedogtor
Thank you again.

I don't understand
@@BrooksAirheadGarage instead of the 12 sided bolt into to the gearbox. A regular six sided bolt of same length.
No. Use the BMW supplied bolt. It is hardened and you don’t want them to break
@@BrooksAirheadGarage Thanks Brook
Is the Torq pre load the same for used bearings? I want to remove my swing arm for paint purposes.
Yes it is Joshua.
Perfect i need it !!!😉😃
75 foot pounds is approx 100 Nm. For those of us in the S.I. world.
Hi Brook, I hope all is ok. Any idea where I can purchase the tools required to rebuild the final drive?
