    Below are links to the Froth Pak kit and respirator cartridge's I used. I was able to find better pricing on Amazon vs the big box retailers.

    Froth Pak kits are easy to use, excellent at air sealing gaps in a building envelope, and are much cheaper that hiring a spray foam contractor (so you'll get some DIY savings).

    Great presentation, Take home notes fan nozzle preferred. For my situation giving the age of my house I used a few cans 1st to fill in the larger gaps. Remember there's a 30sec time limit when you're not blowing the foam from the Froth Pack. Then I used the pack to seal over everything. Use a direct shot like air brushing paint. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast!

    good stuff. Your work is exactly what I'm trying to do at my house except it's already insulated. I'm ripping out the loose batting that's stuffed in the pockets and doing spray foam then putting it all back

    Good DIY video! I know you mentioned you placed the tanks on your heat register to bring them up to the recommended temperature did you find any problems with the surfaces you were spraying not being as warm as the temp of the tanks?

    Is there a reason you decided to use sealant instead of insulation?

    • @HowtoHacks
      @HowtoHacks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Spray foam is insulation. This has a better R value than fiberglass. Also it’s better at air sealing.

    • @Myles_to_go
      @Myles_to_go ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HowtoHacks you're actually using Froth-pak sealant (green box that says "sealant") in the video, and not Froth-pak insulation (red box that says "insulation"). The two products are very similar, but they do have different specs. This is why I was asking.
      Edit: I don't know if the specs vary simply because of the testing/certifications and the way they decided to describe them, or if they are actually different.

    • @HowtoHacks
      @HowtoHacks  ปีที่แล้ว

      The link below explains the difference. The sealant is insulation and they have the same r value per inch however the insulation formula has a fire retardant in it. So depending on where you spray it you may have to cover the sealant with a fire barrier like drywall. Notice where it says, “You could apply the Froth-Pak Sealant to the board faces but your local building code may require you to cover the sealant with a fire barrier.” Also to get this fire rating you have to spray 2 inches thick. To spray that thick I would have had to buy a much larger kit and spend more. Also I covered where I sprayed with drywall or fiberglass anyway.

    • @pb7379-j2k
      @pb7379-j2k 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The problem isn’t the smell, the problem is you will get sensitized to the iso which will then give you a potentially deadly reaction in future contact. Skin contact too. Google it

    Man this was a mess. The gun gets absolutely covered in spray and it drips a little bit every time you stop spraying so that adds up and then I had one of the hoses leak so without realizing it a whole crap load of a Spilled Out onto the floor. Then the tanks are heavy as shit, each one I think is about 70 pounds so I'm having to constantly pick those things up and carry them around the basement and outside to do around the windows. The hose is constantly getting bound up and kinked and twisted the wrong way...
    By the end of it I was covered in spray foam

    • @HowtoHacks
      @HowtoHacks  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah you have to plan for all of that and be careful. I covered everything I didn’t want to get sprayed. Also I think I mentioned in the video about the hoses getting kinked. I think I also purchased a set of longer hoses. I didn’t have much trouble with the sprayer tip dripping or the hoses not leaking but I definitely see how that can happen. Also I wore a tyvek suit, gloves and a hat.
