That last scream. You could feel how, despite how insanely powerful he is. Was powerless to save these people. Despite being in this intense pure rage, he still felt deep sadness for the meaningless slaughter of the people of that village.

And even in that state where his anger peaked, he never laid a hand on civilians. His wrath is righteous and just.

I dont just hear anger, i hear pain, unbridled....pain especially in the credits cutscene, i hear more pain than anger in those screams...i dont hear screams of rage, i hear screams of agony and anguish.
His war cry during this transformation was purely agony and sorrow. This was no longer wrath. It was absolute pain.

This transformation is easily the best in any video game. It isn’t some “oh I just trained for a few days” bullshit, it is the culmination of centuries of death, pain, destruction, and absolute sadness and agony in one man. Normal people would go insane and die. He used the insanity in a way that would destroy his enemies.

Anger of the uncontrolled kind seems to find its origin in moments of immense anguish. It’s neat to see how Asura gradually develops the way he manifests his rage (and therefore power). He matures from being driven by blind desperation to becoming a focussed and righteous hero by the end.
And its all from a little girl who reminds him of his daughter that died, true pain right there
The only word I can truly describe that Scream is true Agony and Despair.
(Which even for those who didn't experience it, will still feel those emotions strongly)

Just 100% Liam O'Brien at his absolute finest. Japanese VA's are praised for their performances, often with due reason, but honestly, Liam just made this game his own. I'm usually a sub > dub person, but he just totally nailed the performance in this game to the point where I vastly prefer playing it in English. Absolutely phenomenal job, keep up the amazing standard (despite the physical wreckage to ones throat haha - obviously worth it)!
They even use his dub for the last couple of screams in the Japanese version.

Pain. Unrivaled, cruel, excruciating, painful pain. This to me, is by far the most emotional scenes from this game, second only to Asura giving his life to save his daughter Mithra, and his suffering over. This just shows how much pain and suffering he has had holding him. He's reminded by his past failures: his failing to prove innocence. His failing to save his wife Durga from death. His failing to rescuing his daughter, and his most current failure being the destruction of the village and everything and everyone in it, including one little girl, that errierly looks almost if not exactly like his Mithra. Seeing her dead body, Asura finally snaps, his hate, wrath, anger, rage, sorrow, regret and sadness over willing him, turning him into a monster of pure, unadluterated sorrow, agony and last but certainly not least...rage. I cry every time I watch this, seeing how this proud warrior has failed sp much and hard and seeing all of his bottles up emotions suddenly become popped open. It chills me.
This game deserves a remaster. I mean capcom has been amazing with re2 remake especially but really hope for a remaster for this game

The part of this that always gets me is that they sound like screams of pain, and I get emotional pain but I mean physical pain, like this form he has taken is harming himself. His screams near the end almost sound like he is yelling "Oww" I mean I may be wrong but still, putting emotional pain aside I believe this form physically causes him pain as well, but I could be wrong.

Watching this in 2019. I've never felt this much pain and absolute hate from a game/animation. The music combined with the actors voice are straight up stunning. This still makes my insides shutter hearing him scream. Well done Liam O'Brian

Reminder. That role left him hospitalised after he was coughing up blood while he was Autisticly screaming like mad nearly non stop during his recording sessions.
That scream solidified Liam O'Brian as my favorite VA of all time. That was sorrow, agony, and helplessness all funneled into the shape of Wrath.
newcomers might be dazzled by DBZ level spectacle, but players of the game know there's nothing to feel good about here. I actually cry nearly every time I see this.

Instead of crying even a drop of tears, he fed himself with the sorrow of the death, questioning himself either it is good to kill innocent even though they are a god, no drops of tears, sorrow creates hatred, hatreds fed upon the rage, rage is the blast of anger itself, turning himself against the deities, the rage turns him to monster, a monster that can bring a fall to the deities itself
And the people responsible blamed him to a crime he didn't commit and even fueled his rage by killing the only thing keeping him sane
I like this anger more than others because you see that in that angry screaming there is also a hint of sadness and crying

I love the dead silence as he comes to realise what has happened, before the first somber bars of "In my Belief" start playing. Such a chilling moment.
Also I'm not sure if its just how they did the dub but the fact that he isn't quite able to get the scream out at first really sells that sheer unfathomable pain and rage he is feeling, where even his cry is momentarily choked.

Asura started off a Guardian General. Shortly after a fight against Ghoma Vlitra, he was betrayed by everyone. He lost his home... his wife.. almost his life twice. He almost lost his daughter too.
After 12000 years, Wyzen used his "Gongen Wyzen" form to take down Asura. Being seemingly crushed by Wyzen's finger, Asura fought back and, using his rage, obliterated a planet sized Wyzen with one punch.
Augus, Asura's mentor, proved to be evenly matched but Asura outsmarted him.
Kalrow and Sergei were pure jokes. Do i seriously need to go into detail?
Olga sends her entire fleet to take down Asura. Let's see.. with this video occurring, how much of Olga's fleet got away? 1 percent?!
Deus was quite the fighter. Asura's rage was too much.
Vlitra re appears, but Asura and Yasha get to the core and knock it dead.
Yasha sacrifices his reactor and the Mantra Reactor for Asura, weakening him and vulnerable to death.
Chakravartin, the thing behind it all, tries to redeem Asura, but Asura is too far past redemption. Using nothing but pure rage, Asura manages to defeat his most powerful foe yet with his base form.
This is the true story of an anti-hero. He was forced into this. The only thing he had left was his daughter, Mithra. He died in the end, but his wrath was unparalleled. A legend.
Asura's cries of torment and anguish in this video show what he lost. What he is pained by, and why he fights. His demon within comes out to play... and Olga's fleet pays the price.

God, 6 years since I first played this game and those screams still give me chills. Liam O’Brian did a *phenomenal* job as Asura, even for his standards. -Probably- Definitely my pick for his best role.

Great movie the bs life lesson at the end didn't really fit the situation though. The guy had been betrayed (and killed twice) by the people he once counted as comrades his wife was murdered and his daughter was being used as a production plant. Between that watching innocent people get butchered and then seeing an exact look alike of his daughter die right in front of his eyes he had had all he could take. He had every right and justification to flip his shit.

I never even played this game but this clip alone seems wild. This isn’t anger it’s sorrow, pain, a man who has lost everything. The transformation doesn’t seem like a “good one” it only comes out from the torment he’s feeling.
This man lost his wife, his entire group of friends betrayed him for power, he lost his daughter, and he was banished to hell for 10,000 years. He gets back up, finally meets someone he can bond with, a young girl that looks like his daughter- and she dies in a nuclear holocaust.

This is Asura's berserker form it is a combination of both fury and depression and Asura's second form when he becomes completely black is his Wrath form a combination of Malice and Pain yet he still doesn't attack the innocent with either form except for his enemies gomma and demigod soldiers which he will destroy and still try to protect the innocent civilians.

Asura's Wrath was a masterpiece in every aspect. It looked amazing for a 360/PS3 game, the voice acting, just amazing. I'll always hope for a remaster at the very least one day.

The last roar Asura let out always felt more like someone screeming out in pain and self-hate than rage.
If I remember correctly, I believe this is the scene that got Liam O'Brien hospitalized because he completely blew out his vocal cords and damaged his lungs. What a legend!

This game is forever burned into my memory for one reason and one reason only: Liam O'Brian's vocal performance.
Sure, the game's aesthetic is gorgeous; the premise is poignant, and the spectacle of the fighting has as much impact as one of Asura's finishing blows.
But Liam delivers every line with such emotion that you _feel_ everything Asura does. The pain of betrayal, the anguish of loss, and the unquenchable fury of a man wounded by grave injustice. And his screams as Asura casts off his humanity and transforms into a demon of wrath that obliterates an entire fleet in orbit really let you taste the sheer depth of Asura's pain.
I doubt we well ever get to experience such a flawless performance ever again-much less one more filled with screaming than actual dialogue.
I feel like the only thing that would have made this scene even better would be to see berserk Asura cradling the body of the girl who looked like Mithra after Olga fled.
He probably destroyed her body by accident
Seeing those waves of power were visible from space, yeah, he more then likely eviscerated the girl's body in his shit fit session.
this would kill my heart man...
in my opinion, it would be much more heart breaking, if he holding the body of that girl turning into ash.
