    Thanks for doing this mate. I have been thinking about doing this myself for a couple of years. I hope im not being sacrilegious here but I have an XA Coupe and a Landau Coupe in the shed and have no experience at all with welding and car resto but have been itching to do my best to revive at least one of them. You are inspiring me to have a red hot go. I may just have to think more seriously about space, tools and time. Buy a couple of GoPros and document it all.

      Well all i can say is go for it! It's worth it in the long run after the initial setup costs. Thanks for watching

      Thanks, Yes it's a solid little unit that's easy to use and great for sheet metal so suits me perfectly.

    Hey bro did you try electric welding too ? How was that ? Compared to gas welding ?

    • @BarnesysBuilds

      Electric welding? Not sure I understand the question but gas shielded welding is far superior for use on thin sheet metal panels. A lot cleaner welds than gasless welding which I would only ever use for gate posts or thick metal joins etc that won't be seen.

    Barnsey,
    Quick question. I’ve got a cig 135 & I’m using gas with .6 gas wire to weld 1-1.2 mm sheet on some rust repairs. What settings are you using because the mongrel keeps flairing on me & im getting a shit run
    Cheers

      Make sure your earth is not on dirty metal and close as possible to the area your working on, wire speed is crucial to getting a good frying bacon weld noise, at .6 the power setting us only on the first setting so it's most likely your wire speed and earth. Make sure your gas is also flowing correctly as well.

    Gday mate great job so far ive done a few boats in the past but never taking on a car but im keen if you dont mind me asking what budget have you set and how much have you put into the car, cheers

      Shannon Stubbs cheers mate, budget is loose at the moment, it depends on what direction I end up going with the engine. For body work and paint I have allocated 5k all up. Some say I am ambitious at that price. I guess we will find out! So far I have outlays about $1500 for tools and panels so it's really not that bad. The cost is in the labour so hours wise I wouldn't put 80 hours in already I reckon.

    Hey Barnesy top marks for havin' a crack mate. Hope you see the project through & look forward to watching!! What brand of drum sander are you using & where did you buy it from?? Cheers Shane

    • @BarnesysBuilds
      @BarnesysBuilds  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Shane O'Brien thanks mate, yeah it's going to be a monstrous time line to get it all done but I will see it through! The Drum sander is direct from a factory, it was about $150 landed wholesale. So retail they could go double that. I bought 2 and plan on selling the other. I have been impressed by the quality and strength of the unit.

    Hey mate what sheet metal are you using and what thickness? Cheers

    • @BarnesysBuilds
      @BarnesysBuilds  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Using cold rolled steel sheet metal at 1.2mm for body and 1.6mm for sills.
