experience helps a LOT - but I dove in and redid the rear door/fender area on a car...it's quite a lot of fun to take bits of left over sheet metal and a hammer and a vice and some pliers and recreate the missing/rusted parts and when you're done grinding it really looks like it was never replaced.
I'm not ready to build my dream car, but I am no longer afraid of rust!

Just found your channel and it's AWESOME (not yelling, just expressing strong sentiment). I got my hands on a 1950 Willys wagon that needs quite a bit of body work. After many hours of searching this platform I started to get discouraged because I don't have any of the fancy tools (english wheel, shrinking stump, stretching hammers etc.) You are a true craftsman Sir. Thank you for sharing your talents and knowledge with people who love the work but don't have a restoration shop.

Making the panels on the car is the way to go, it ensures that the panels actually fit. It's right up there with mock up.
Otherwise you end up with fitment issues.
I'm working on a 69 sport satellite on my channel, nothing fits right, many cuts and corrections had to be made. Also have a 55 pontiac hotrod in the cue to come in soon. The rear quarters were done in the early 80's and in no way meet the doors. Gonna be lots of cutting and rearranging on that one.
Thanks for sharing how you do it Fitzee, great channel, your content is very helpful, there's a handful of channels that have really increased my game and yours is at the top of the list. Thank you 👍
