@@d0rzA If you do have a look at Logitech Combo Touch keyboard. Determine if this is a better setup if you draw or take notes a lot with the pencil. I went this way as the keyboard is still great but I can have an elevated iPad for drawing and hand written notes. The down side is the Magic keyboard is better for use whilst on your lap but that’s not important for me.
Absolutely agree with everything you said. I just got the Magic Keyboard and it has raised my iPad usage by a LOT! It makes everything easier and it’s very much worth the price.
I recently traded in my 16” MBP for the new iPad Pro since they’re not supporting intel ones as much and got this with it. It’s a really good combo and have been enjoying it a lot more than the laptop. My first ever iPad.
I currently have an IPad Pro and no laptop. I was going to buy the new m1 MacBook Air but I went to the store and didn’t like how small it is. I’d rather wait and spring for the new 14 or 16 in MacBook Pros expected to come out at the end of the year or early next so I was thinking buying the magic keyboard in the interim to make this my laptop for now, I’d mostly be using it for Microsoft Office 365, zoom meetings and sales software. Do you think this combo of iPad Pro and keyboard will be sufficient to tied me over?
If you take the iPad out of the keyboard case, close the keyboard case and put the tablet on the ‘logo side’ with the case hinge at the bottom (for landscape mode) you can use the magnets inside the case to hold the iPad place and use the iPad in ‘notebook’ mode. The magnet isn’t as strong as it is in ‘laptop’ mode but it’ll do with keeping the iPad from sliding around whilst you draw/note take and solves having to stick the keyboard case somewhere if you are on the go. 😊
Got my first Apple Magic Keyboard today and agree 100%. I just wish Apple would cut the price in half. It’s so good that I feel many more people should have the chance to own it.
I upgraded to the M1 11inch. It’s been worth it, and I'm glad I didn’t have to buy another and that I could use the one I already had. Great video man!
I’m so late to the game, but after two years I FINALLY purchased mine about 2-3 weeks ago and couldn’t be happier! It’s amazing for sure. Worth the price, maybe not, but its awesome just the same. The price is what held me back for the past two years. I recommend for sure!
I just got the White Magic keyboard for my 2018 iPad Pro - yes it is very expensive but it really does transform the iPad experience and is totally worth it.👍
This is such a great review! Everything I needed to know and more! Really detailed and beautiful camera work! I’m so excited for my new magical keyboard to arrive tomorrow! Thanks JSL - never normally leave a review but had to on this one! Just brilliant!
I was able to buy one for my 12.9 inch XDR iPad Pro last weekend brand new which had a big discount at Best Buy for $199 on a 24hr sale. I love that keyboard on the iPad
Definitely a great buy. It cannot replace my Macbook Air but for its portability and for what it can do that regular laptops can't, I have zero regret for buying one. I agree that typing on the Magic Keyboard is addictive.
Great review! I still ended up ordering the Logitech Combo Touch. Much better protection, offering the best combination of keyboard and protective case. The keyboard can be detached but also connected from behind so the full case protection is always there when you need it. Then there’s the function keys that allows for display, sound, brightness etc adjustments that the Magic keyboard does not offer. Then there’s the price. For over $100 cheaper you get more features and versatility. Superior value.
I got it today when I got my iPad Pro I got the 256gb 11 inch 3rd generation and I must say this track pad ( I got the white magic keyboard) this was the best apple product I ever got period lol thank u for helping me get familiar with it.

Coming from what productivity I could achieve with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra and its keyboard, this is a step overall. There’s just a level of finish for the keyboard and the typing experience that I appreciate more instantly with the iPad Pro than Samsung. Google and Android developers are to blame for software optimization, and Samsung has done a lot to enhance and improve the tablet experience, including screen technology. Just got mine today.. Been holding back on this for a while. Finally got the courage to get one and oh boy is this thing amazing!! I was using the slim folio.
Thnx J. I totally agree. Yes…it’s expensive but the feel, the experience, the quality is second to none. Just got it last weekend, but certainly no regrets. This is now my replacement for my iMac. Combined with a external hard disk on the usb c port. All best from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 Europe. 😁🖐
I have a 16 inch MBP I got 18 months ago but since then I got the 2021 12.9 inch ipad pro along with the magic keyboard and I barely touch my MBP as much as I use to. The magic keyboard changes everything with the ipad.
Having used the sub-par, almost poor keyboard on the Tab S7+, Apple agains shows how to do it properly. It is expensive but it adds so much to the experience that it is almost a must have accessory to max out your iPad potential. So now it is my go to device for stuff that I go back and forth from during the day, like email, research, browsing, typing, rather than my M1 MB Pro! Anyone on YT that says it is not pro nor a laptop replacement, well for some of us it easily is!
Very nice review, i just got mine, i was really thinking about it because is a very expensive keyboard, but i think is worth every penny, i was looking into the other ones but nothing close to the functionality of this one, love it
I bit the bullet and bought one during the many U.S. sales on the Black Magic Keyboard for $199 USD. I haven't touched my windows laptop since using the Magic Keyboard. Only thing I noticed is the battery of my iPad Air 4 does drain faster but that's because I like to have the keyboard backlighting on. You can turn the backlighting off in the ipad's settings for better batterylife. Also, 3:01 this usb-C charging port on the Magic Keyboard charges the iPad fairly quick but I do notice it charges a bit slower than charging using the ipad's Usb C port even when I used the same USB C charger for both. Not sure what the max watts is but it's just something I noticed.
I tried this combo and I can say it’s not even close to replacing a laptop. The lack of function keys, tiny trackpad, and the iPad OS make it much more limited than a laptop experience.
I got an Amazon one at first then bought the apple magic key board when it was on sale and let me tell you I should of gone for the magic apple keyboard from the start it was amazing
@@orvvro i used the black one (first gen) for like one hour and it got dirty (and i am a clean neat freak). I returned the black one because i felt i didn’t need it at that time. I’ve been trying to talk myself into this keyboard. I think I won’t use it a lot. But I bet if I watch movies more or use Xcloud I’d probably use it more. I figure I might as well try. Good review. Most people are knocking this keyboard over price. And saying Logitech is most versatile. But I like the look of this one.
I 100% agree with the statement about the Logitech keyboard cases being more versatile. They actually offer protection to the iPad and can be used at a lot more angles than the Apple keyboard. They also use the smart connector and the Apple trackpad drivers so gestures work and feel just as great as the Magic Keyboard. Not to mention that it's much more friendly for artists since depending on what one you go with, you can either fold the keyboard behind the iPad where it automatically disconnects to prevent any accidental keypresses, or you can remove it entirely and use it without losing any protection. There's also a row of function keys for media control, brightness, etc. All of this and it STILL comes at a lower cost than what Apple is selling.
My mom got me an iPad Air Gen 4. She made sure to get a sweet deal. 1200 USD for a tablet, otter box, Apple Pencil, and Magic Keyboard. I really love this keyboard. Feels like having a laptop without the need to buy one. BTW, I’m typing this comment on my Magic Keyboard. XD
The only thing that I do not like about the Magic Keyboard case is the trackpad. For me the trackpad is just too small especially when using it to arrange the icons on your screen. I find myself using a third party mouse a lot with this case. I do agree that this case does offer the best typing experience for the iPad. The case also solidifies the iPad as the productivity device and in my opinion their is no third party keyboard that holds the same user experience as the Magic Keyboard case. I was fortunate enough to pick one up from Walmart for $199.
Thanks for the very insightful review… after trying out different accessories to mimic the functionality of the Apple Magic Keyboard (e.g Separate aluminum stand, separate carrying and protective case, Bluethtooth mechanical keyboard and an Apple Trackpad), I think the all in one solution does make sense (case protection, portability and cost). Good point on how well Apple OEM accessories work/interact with Apple devices. Only issue or limitation I guess of this keyboard is when you are planning to use it in Portrait mode (better camera angle for video calls, apps that do not work with landscape mode)… but overall I think this is a value add accessory. Thanks again. Might finally purchase one :)
But yet, autobrightness in the iPad settings STILL doesn’t correctly work with the keyboard lighting. Bright environments, dim environments- doesn’t matter. The autobrightness doesn’t affect the keyboard lighting. You’d think a first-party accessory wouldn’t have this issue. I do agree the magic keyboard is good and I enjoy mine, but I wish they’d fix the keyboard backlighting to work with iPad autobrightness. As it is now, the keyboard is always either too bright or too dim….for the sake of battery life, I’ve set my Magic Keyboard backlight to around 10% and leave it there. High brightness on the keyboard backlighting has a noticeable impact on iPad’s battery life.
Most people criticising the device because of the price have never used it. Pretty sure almost anyone who’s used for just a day (a year in my case) forgets about the price immediately. Hopefully next update will have function keys and a silo for the pen.
I currently have an IPad Pro 12.9 and no laptop. I was going to buy the new m1 MacBook Air but I went to the store and didn’t like how small the screen is, considering I already have this iPad it’s not much different. @@InvestwithAlen I'm tempted to get it after I already sold my magic keyboard but I've been doing the Spigen tough armor case with the Logitech k380 and Logitech pebble mouse combo cuz well budget lol...funny saying that when an iPad pro is far from a budget device 😂
The Logitech combo touch case is the only alternative I would highly recommend, it’s outstanding - I made a dedicated review on it a while back, was thoroughly impressed by it!
Nice but it lacks Apple Pencil holder. It should be fully enclosed to protect the iPad edges. However, if you attach Apple Pencil to the bottom edge, will you be able to successfully close the lid thus resolving my concern about not having a Pencil reservoir to conceal it?
Great review. I ordered my new iPad and the new Magic keyboard at the same time. I received the keyboard over a month ago, still waiting for the iPad. :)
Not having that side protection is a deal breaker for me when it comes to a device that is in constant motion. No reason why they could have brought the case around the four corners. Case/keyboard looks perfect minus that one issue. And of course, no other protective case will work with this keyboard
Too bad Apple Care+ doesn't allow you to add the Magic keyboard to the plan if you didn't purchase it at the same time as your iPad. Someone could have mentioned that to me lol.
Hi, well said ..sir… I was faced some problems …the following ones-it doesn’t support my university applications …my app asking -should be need desktop version..plz sort my problems if you know Thank you for understanding
I went with the Magic Mouse mouse 2 and the magic keyboard (the white separate one) for my iPad Pro because it was 180$ but I’m don’t know if i made the right choice.
can we stick our IPAD at the back of our magic keyboard case for note taking. does it stick to the front side when we close the case...?? does the magnet work back side also..??? like when you close the case...the front side of the case does your ipad sticks so that your ipad is safe while writing...???
I have an iPad Pro connected to mine but can’t get all the letters to type I even replaced It thinking the first was defective, but I’m having the same trouble. Any suggestions? Guessing the answer is in the Settings somewhere but it’s beyond me.
You have certainly made a very convincing to spend the not inconsisderable funds on this accessory.i bought the Logitech because it is very well protected all over including the sides and corners which are pristine.I has been a few dropped a few times, got a scratch. The Keyboard on the Logitech is good just not as good as the Apple keyboard. And the trackpad works well.To have the Apple Magic Keyboard you really a protective-a sleeve or something like that because it just not do protection well.Still tempted though.
Can this keyboard comfortably sit on your lap? I always see it sitting on a table and never on a lap. I work on my couch so that’s very important to me. Is it study enough to stay open on an unstable surface, like someone’s lap?
Hi I purchased this keyboard for my iPad 11 pro but it does not illuminate and in settings-general- keyboard I don’t get a “hardware keyboard” setting so any ideas please?
I wish there where feet to make it not sit flat on the desk for typing 😮💨! And other than that if only Apple would make some mobile version of Final Cut Pro it would be perfect for me How is it typing on there for a while ? I really wish they had a way to elevate the keyboard some cuz I already didn’t like the basic magic keyboard because of how flat it was and I either use a replacement mechanical keyboard or I use a stand for the magic keyboard
Dude at $350 its way overpriced- however, you can get one open box one from Ebay for around $220 that’s more reasonable. Slightly used can be found in the 180-200 range. I know that it is still a lot of money for a keyboard but I went from crapping on this product to loving it

“But still yes”

I just ordered one today
Thinking about getting the magic keyboard before I start college to go with iPad Pro and Apple Pencil but it’s a lot of money for me.
Just got the iPad Pro M1…. Might need to snag this for work purposes.
I need an additional case with smart connector to protect the iPad when detached.
Great review. I ordered my new iPad and the new Magic keyboard at the same time. I received the keyboard over a month ago, still waiting for the iPad. :)
Thanks for the feedback! It’ll all be worth it when the iPad gets in your hands!
Do you know if the 6th Gen iPad Pro keyboard work on the 5th gen iPad Pro? Great video!👍
Just bought one in excellent condition from amazon for $150. We’ll see how it works!
Not having that side protection is a deal breaker for me when it comes to a device that is in constant motion. No reason why they could have brought the case around the four corners.
Case/keyboard looks perfect minus that one issue. And of course, no other protective case will work with this keyboard
Hi there at the 3:33 mark what iPad was that. I noticed it was gold? Also I take it it was attached to the Magic Keyboard
is that a ipad pro 2018 in the case?
a man of culture
Yes!
@@JSLReview how’s the experience? As that isn’t even made for the iPad Pro 2018
@@CastorJackson works great for me, still use this setup all the time
@@JSLReview would you say this ipad is a must have and the keyboard with it?
Too bad Apple Care+ doesn't allow you to add the Magic keyboard to the plan if you didn't purchase it at the same time as your iPad.
Someone could have mentioned that to me lol.
Love your content!🤩😎🥰
Keybroad brand new. Not working. Do I need to plug it in and charge it? Saying ‘this assessors not supported’
comment to support the awesome channel!
appreciate the comment and support, thanks!
Hi, well said ..sir…
I was faced some problems …the following ones-it doesn’t support my university applications …my app asking -should be need desktop version..plz sort my problems if you know
Thank you for understanding
I went with the Magic Mouse mouse 2 and the magic keyboard (the white separate one) for my iPad Pro because it was 180$ but I’m don’t know if i made the right choice.
can we stick our IPAD at the back of our magic keyboard case for note taking. does it stick to the front side when we close the case...?? does the magnet work back side also..??? like when you close the case...the front side of the case does your ipad sticks so that your ipad is safe while writing...???
i just like to watch videos like this so i feel better about spending so much money
great video btw! the editing is really satisfying and the audio is so crisp this video is very nice to watch :)
I have an iPad Pro connected to mine but can’t get all the letters to type I even replaced
It thinking the first was defective, but I’m having the same trouble. Any suggestions? Guessing the answer is in the Settings somewhere but it’s beyond me.
Great video! Thanks
I want one for my iPad Air 4 but that price tag 😣😣
Dude I know, mad expensive but man, it could totally change the way you use your iPad!
Where did you get your ipad’s wallpaper from?
Love mine worth every penny
What widget is that clock on the main screen of the iPad?
Great review!
What word processor is that?
Love the white-on-black high contrast.
Probably google docs on night mode. It looks much like that
The keyboard is really amazing
Thanks for this! What kind of over ear headphones are those!?
Probably the Apple headphones, whatever they’re called

Absolutely. The iPad floats, so the bottom of the Magic Keyboard doesn’t generate heat at all.
What mouse is recommended to go with it?
Hi I purchased this keyboard for my iPad 11 pro but it does not illuminate and in settings-general- keyboard I don’t get a “hardware keyboard” setting so any ideas please?
They make the apple iPad Pro feel like a MacBook Air & apple knows how to make great products 👍
Where do you put the pencil?
Ugh, was that Supreme thermos worth it?
I wish there where feet to make it not sit flat on the desk for typing 😮💨! And other than that if only Apple would make some mobile version of Final Cut Pro it would be perfect for me
How is it typing on there for a while ? I really wish they had a way to elevate the keyboard some cuz I already didn’t like the basic magic keyboard because of how flat it was and I either use a replacement mechanical keyboard or I use a stand for the magic keyboard
Dude at $350 its way overpriced- however, you can get one open box one from Ebay for around $220 that’s more reasonable. Slightly used can be found in the 180-200 range. I know that it is still a lot of money for a keyboard but I went from crapping on this product to loving it
Yeah I found one on eBay like new for $159 (11”)
@@Toyeboy89 you got a fake one probably
@@icephoenix3565 fake because someone sold it on eBay? No it was a reputable seller and it’s genuine, works great.
can we stick our IPAD at the back of our magic keyboard case for note taking. does it stick to the front side when we close the case...??
No you can't. You'll have to disconnect the iPad from the magic keyboard.
Is it good for gaming?
It's Worth it Thanks
Soooooooo worth it! Transformational
Really worth the money!
