Considering Diomedes was being guided by Athena... Do you guys think that maybe in the next saga it'll be revealed that she was guiding Odysseus without his knowledge? Another thing that I haven't seen anyone mention: His eyes glow during this sequence, and glowing is heavily associated with gods and also... Monsters. Could that mean that Odysseus received blessing from the gods to temporally not be bound by his mortality? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I had heard the deeper voice behind him, i NEVER would have imagined that it was Polyphemus, I assumed it was just the effect of a god at 100% pissed off about to shatter the actual ocean, but Polyphemus singing along is brilliant
It's an interesting theory, but so far the Livestream Animatic has no sign of Polyphemus. It's just him conjuring a Giant Water Clone of himself and his own voice becoming more monstrous as he prepares to unleash his "GOD MOVE: Shatter The Ocean". He probably only sounds like Polyphemus when his voice gets like that as symbolism. For now, at least. Maybe he'll change it in future versions of the Saga. It's still only a concept album, after all.
@colt1903 I mean that is fair, but also it’s not like something didn’t happen just because we don’t see it nice animation. Take the Circe Saga for example. In “Puppeteer”, we know after the fact that Hermes was listening in, and that is canonical, even though we don’t see it. But we can hear it with a little bit of lyre at one point in the instrumental. Same would be true for this. Yes we don’t SEE it happen, but it could be happening through the audio in the same way. Also, to clarify in case this was just due to misunderstanding, I’m not saying Polyphemus is ACTUALLY singing with him. What I am trying to bring to light is the fact that I believe it is supposed to represent his desire for revenge being fulfilled by his father. His anger so concentrated it can be heard. This isn’t me saying you’re wrong, or to shut up. Just saying, it could be possible and wanted to explain myself. Thanks for reading!
[Fck you] is exactly my reaction when Polites SHOWED UP FOR THE TENTH TIME. IT STILL HURTS, ESPECIALLY WITH EURY AND ODY'S MOM BEING ADDED TO THE MIX 😭
The prophecy coming true with each line of No Longer You's chorus representing a big Ody song is really cool. Song of past romance = Suffering Sacrifice of man = Scylla Portrayal of betrayal = Mutiny A brother's final stand = Thunder Bringer On the brink of Death = Love in Paradise Draw your final breath = Get in the Water No longer you = Six Hundred Strike
Well… no spoilers, but I’m pretty sure “I see a man who gets to make it home alive”, and “but it’s no longer you”, will both have their own songs in the next saga.
Before the video even Premieres: I find it extremely funny, that Jorge made a Video 4ish days ago saying "noone found the 'no longer you' motive in get in the water yet" and Casper being like "I DID!!! ITS JUST NOT RELEASED YET, because schedule SO LET ME PUT IT ON THE THUMBNAIL" lol
The way I laughed out loud at "Fuck you" when Polites, Eurylochus and Anticlea (and the soldiers) called out. Full on "Jorge you better buy stock in Better Help for our therapy bills" feels. Also, the end of "600 Strike" shows why there was no danger motif in "Get in the Water". Ody was not the one in danger here. He was giving Poseidon a warning when he tried to make him go away. "I'm this close to home, don't get in my way. I won't be the one bloody when we're done."
INTERESTING FACT ABOUT "GET IN THE WATER": When Ody tries to appeal to Poseidon's humanity to forgive him one last time he attempts to use the trumpet, the ocean god's instrument, along with his motif, looking to get the Ruthlessness motif a new meaning, the opossite feeling. "Maybe you could learn to forgive" has the same melody and instrument as "Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves" only higher and softer. This serves to show how the notion of forgiveness is void on Poseidon and as he said "has no mercy left to give".
"I'll take your son and gouge his eyes" I listened to this song like 6 times before I released Poseidon was basically threatening to do to Telemachus what Odysseus did to the Cyclops. Add that to this list of callbacks in Epic that it took me like several listens to get!
@Spectralyzed the man himself is a known liar we shouldn't trust anything he says (unless he's talking about Penelope, he's been fairly consistent about her)
Okay I can finally tell you a fun fact without it being a spoiler! So there's an English phrase "stuck between a rock and a hard place" that means being stuck with a decision where both options suck, and it actually stems from a Greek saying of being "stuck between Scylla and Charybdis" which means the same thing!
From what I gather from a few myths, the gods can be harmed. Ares was once defeated by twin giants and they trapped him in a jar for a long time. Thanatos was captured by a mortal man, King Sisyphus, using divine chains made by Hephaestus that were originally meant for Sisyphus. He locked Thanatos in a chest so that he couldn't drag his soul to the underworld to be punished, and as long as Thanatos was trapped, nothing died.
HOLD ON! The Sisyphus myth is a Really Good Point. Like you said a MORTAL manages to defeat and imprison a god, but only through TRICKERY and a GODLY INSTRUMENT (cough trident cough) that he happened to get his hands on!!
I don’t see anyone mention that the line "I'll take your son and gouge his eyes" is a direct reference to Polyphemus, cause that’s what Ody and his crew did to him. He blinded Poseidon's son's eye.

"I see you on the brink of death, I see you draw your final breath" on Get in the Water. "I see a man who gets to make it home alive, but it's no longer you." Six Hundred Strike The way I see it Odysseus had never fully transformed into the monster, even in his last moments in fear and close to home he still tried to appeal to Poseidon's emotions, to a non-existing humanity in the god. It reminded me of Luck Runs Out: "I still believed in goodness, I still believe that we could be kind." The last of Odysseus hope and own humanity. He had to give up entirely on his old self in the end, terrifying and deserved for Poseidon. The whole arc of him becoming villainous and monstrous is just heartbreaking.
I’m pretty sure Gwendy, who asked Jorge directly what the chants are, deconfirmed the “Whirlpool, Poseidon” line. She said she can’t share what they are, but it’s definitely not that.
I just wanna say, i may not have found it the first time BUT I SO CALLED IT WITH THE 'NO LONGER YOU' MOTIF. THIS WAS THE MOMENT THE PROPHECY CAME THROUGH IN 600 STRIKE
The last third of 600 Strike always gives me goosebumps and I DELIGHT in seeing others feel the same. Ody being so tired, so angry, and just so......done with everything big gods have put him through. Killing Hector's son, seeing his men die/betray him due to others cruelty. Putting him through hell of the worst kind and denying him getting home. Cause of Zeus, and cause of Poseidon. Odysseus right here shows why vengeance gives you nothing but a cycle of pain as he puts Poseidon right in the victim's spotlight. And makes him see just what it is like to be on the other side of that hateful violence. It really is scary to think about. Part of me revels in Odysseus getting some payback on this bully. But my heart, the brighter part of me, just feels nothing but sorrow for both Ody and Poseidon alike here...man this makes me feel stuff.
Greek gods are able to be hurt by mortals in the mythos. In the Iliad, for example, Diomedes 1v1ed the literal god of war and messed him up enough for Ares to retreat back to Olympus.
We finally get to see polites traumatize you for the third time 😃, also genuinely curious what wild ideas are you gonna be saying while thinking about what's happening in 600 strike since you won't have visuals here
6:24 "Oh Odysseus, Is that your blood in the water? Is that your blood on the trident, my dear?" The way I CACKLED Both because, we all know whose blood it is, and because Casper calling Odysseus "My dear" is just great
Remember back in his reaction to Survive, Casper said he would get over Polites in 3 real days? Yeah, I don’t think that was Prophet Casper’s best day.
I was waiting for the danger motif too. I was so surprised when it didn't pop up during Scylla or even Get in the Water - and then it pops up in ODYSSEUS' e-guitar at the beginning of 600 Strike because he's the most dangerous thing in these waters now. Wth Jorge.
Roger, we love you, don't change. Casper, thank you for doing all 3 songs together. After watching Mortius' I'm glad I get someone's reaction to 600 Strike. Also loved how many times you pronounced Charybdis the same way before deciding to look it up (and testicles - we love immature humour here)
An interesting fact iirc is that this saga is the first (and so far only) saga of EPIC to *not* include a reference to "Just a Man." Likely, this is because Odysseus is no longer just a mere mortal Man.
my head cannon is that 7 years in close proximity with Calypso, granted him semi-divinity for a short amount of time. As long as he stayed with her he was actually immortal so stands to reason...
Did you realize that when Odysseus sings "for every comrade, every one of my friends, almost all of whom were slaughtered by your hand" he sings that with a musical motif from Legendary?
I like how Mortius's reaction to Odysseus fucking Poseidon up with his own trident was "Oh my God, this is so hard to watch!" and Casper's was "HELL YEAH, GET IS ASS"
casper: sorry this has been more reaction than analysis me:🍿this is so entertaining that I forget there usually in an analysis in these reaction (yes I paused the video and said that out loud)
Fun Fact : scylla and charybdis are located in the strait of messina in italy , with a small city named after scylla (scilla) . as for charybdis , the strait is known for its strong opposite currents creating whirlpools in that area . which is where the inspiration of the monster came from
My favorite song is Not Sorry for Loving You as well, it is just so good😍 But these songs are amazing as well, I didn't even notice some of the motifs you pointed out in the songs so thank you for that insight!! Thanks for the amazing reaction as always❤
I’ll never forget my friend and I watching the live stream and the SILENCE during 600 Strikes for the first time. It absolutely warrants no analysis the first time and just reactions - IT’S SO INTENSE! A+ review, as always
Honestly I feel like that “Look what you turned me into!” is easily the best delivered line in the saga, one of the best in the series even, you can just feel his pain in shouting it like some part of him is absolutely shattered by the realization of what he’s become.
Listen, even if you didn’t do a lot of analysis this video, you still pointed out motifs and stuff that I did not! The trumpets in the end of Charybdis was such a good catch
Honestly I think the reason why we heard the crew is because they are Odysseus' summoned backing vocals. While we know that gods can summon backing vocals and mortal men can't, Odysseus is no longer a man, he became the monster. So maybe by loosing his human side, risking it all, he gained that power. In "Get in the water" he even stole Poseidons trumpet and melody for one line, later took his trident (I think that is what it is called). And in the animation he gained red glowing eyes. So I think embracing and turning into the monster, he is now able to summon vocals.
Hi casper and anyone else who happeneds to read this message. I thought I'd mention that's there's a musical called "mythic" which is about hades and Persephone. Two of the songs are called "My own place in the Patheon" and "Summer all the time" there are about 10 songs all together and there all amazing I'd recommend listening to it. But sadly it's not that well known. It can be found on TH-cam and Spotify.
love your analyses casper, but its always better to see you genuinely be happy w the content you produce! so if u feel better just enjoying the music the first time around, then we’re happier too 💕 if your analyses will come later then we will be patient (since i always learn something new from them hehe)
My personal take on the voices are that they're both 'in the wind' like an echo of the calls at sea years ago. That and the chorus of Odysseus' divine blood being awoken/boosted by ares. Like the voices he summons are the ones that define who he is.
Also, Casper sorry for being annoying about this but there is this idea I have, since Mortuis wants to play stray gods and people have expressed desire to see you show him something for a change have you two thought about streaming it together on OAR
I don't know if anyone else mentioned this but it seems the popular theory is that Ody was blessed by at least Ares and Hades, during 600 strike, the main evidence being red eyes and extra aggression from Ares and the fact it seems that Hades temporarily released Ody's crew for the 600 strikes. Sorry I'm not the best at explaining but that seems to be the common theory

The animatics make it even better.
The grief in “look what you turned me into!” Is so heartbreaking.
It took me 2-3 business days to process 600 strike and pick my jaw up off the floor, I’m very excited to see what happens today lol.
I was physically shaking for at least half an hour after the livestream
The image of Poseidon spawn-camping is SO good. 😂 GOSH. The last minute of Six Hundred Strike is LIFE-CHANGING.
BAHAHA
I stopped my Hades game and eight and a half hour Hamilton for this
Also imagine Ody jumping in the water and doggy paddling back to Ithaca after this
Equip the Poseidon keepsake and do a Poseidon only run in respect to the vengeance saga.
13:40 Notice how this time the ghosts are giving their last positive influence to odysseus as he's sinking.
600 strike is a " THE GODS DO BLEED!" moment
Oh boy. The Open Arms Reactions video on this saga is going to be interesting. They have completely opposite opinions on Not Sorry for Loving You.
Greek gods are able to be hurt by mortals in the mythos. In the Iliad, for example, Diomedes 1v1ed the literal god of war and messed him up enough for Ares to retreat back to Olympus.
I mean
It doesn’t take much to make Ares retreat
He got nicked once and booked it
Let’s be real here, Diomedes had clear and concise help/favor from Athena, and Ares is a pushover in many cases 😂
@@Synthesyn342I’m sorry, what’s Thanatos’s excuse for getting trapped by a certain Greek king who is sometimes on Odysseus’s family tree
@@dragonstouch1042 SUPRISE!
@@dragonstouch1042 look I never said it was a good excuse just that its what happenened
It is FAR from unheard of for mortals to hurt gods, it literally happened at Troy a couple of times.
We finally get to see polites traumatize you for the third time 😃, also genuinely curious what wild ideas are you gonna be saying while thinking about what's happening in 600 strike since you won't have visuals here
I always love Casper getting Polites'd, like a slap outta nowhere.
Six Hundred Strike is my favorite thing that has ever come out of Epic, and no one is going to change my mind about that!
I don’t know bro Ithaca saga might go crazy
@@bahnankhayre9534from what we have of King…yeah no, those suitors do not know how royally they screwed up
6:24 "Oh Odysseus, Is that your blood in the water? Is that your blood on the trident, my dear?"
The way I CACKLED
Both because, we all know whose blood it is, and because Casper calling Odysseus "My dear" is just great
13:42 is what we all wanted to say 😭😭🙏
Remember back in his reaction to Survive, Casper said he would get over Polites in 3 real days? Yeah, I don’t think that was Prophet Casper’s best day.
I was waiting for the danger motif too. I was so surprised when it didn't pop up during Scylla or even Get in the Water - and then it pops up in ODYSSEUS' e-guitar at the beginning of 600 Strike because he's the most dangerous thing in these waters now. Wth Jorge.
Casper predicting the lyrics will NEVER get old. I can't wait to watch Open Arms now.
Roger, we love you, don't change. Casper, thank you for doing all 3 songs together. After watching Mortius' I'm glad I get someone's reaction to 600 Strike. Also loved how many times you pronounced Charybdis the same way before deciding to look it up (and testicles - we love immature humour here)
YESSS I LOVE SEEING TRAUMATIZED CASPER
The screaming of "DIE!" gets me every time, hits that good spot.
Well- now we know how long Mortius' Video is-
Very specific premiere time.
Ody SLAYED (in more than one way XD)
I love that both yours and mortius are posting this on my birthday! :3
Happy birthday!
🎉🎉Happy Birthday!🎉🎉
@Mystic21-zu9cw thank you 😊
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Happy birthday!!!!!
An interesting fact iirc is that this saga is the first (and so far only) saga of EPIC to *not* include a reference to "Just a Man." Likely, this is because Odysseus is no longer just a mere mortal Man.
Really?! Omg that’s so cool
Add another stab counter to Jorge killing us slowly.
Me 🤝 You
Insulting Poseidon
I literally called Poseidon a coward and petty XD
my head cannon is that 7 years in close proximity with Calypso, granted him semi-divinity for a short amount of time. As long as he stayed with her he was actually immortal so stands to reason...
6:52 i loved your clock on the trumpets, because they hid themselves as the traditional "triumphant trumpets" very well, i think
Did you realize that when Odysseus sings "for every comrade, every one of my friends, almost all of whom were slaughtered by your hand" he sings that with a musical motif from Legendary?
"Which is really cool *cough* *cough*"
"I'll take your son and gouge his eyes"
Just like how Odysseus did with his son :0 (Aka Polyphemus, Aka the cyclops.)
Stop 😂 the start is killing me
"Im sorry its not that easy....its that easy"😂
I like how Mortius's reaction to Odysseus fucking Poseidon up with his own trident was "Oh my God, this is so hard to watch!" and Casper's was "HELL YEAH, GET IS ASS"
So fun fact posiedon screaming is I believe the danger motif
WHAT
casper: sorry this has been more reaction than analysis
me:🍿this is so entertaining that I forget there usually in an analysis in these reaction (yes I paused the video and said that out loud)
It's really impressive how you're able to infer what's going on without the visuals, just based on the sounds (in most cases at least)
The editor makes an excellent Polites
Editor here -- I've definitely heard that before
Fun Fact : scylla and charybdis are located in the strait of messina in italy , with a small city named after scylla (scilla) . as for charybdis , the strait is known for its strong opposite currents creating whirlpools in that area . which is where the inspiration of the monster came from
Editor, you sound awesome as Polites. Very nice vocals ❤
Editor here -- many thanks 🙏🏾😊
My favorite song is Not Sorry for Loving You as well, it is just so good😍 But these songs are amazing as well, I didn't even notice some of the motifs you pointed out in the songs so thank you for that insight!! Thanks for the amazing reaction as always❤
At the 6:15 mark, I’ve been waiting for someone to pick up the storm motif, and I’m so glad you did. You never disappoint.
17:02 he's just a man trying to get home
12:01 Yep. An eye for an eye. Well, I guess one for two in this case 😂
I’ll never forget my friend and I watching the live stream and the SILENCE during 600 Strikes for the first time. It absolutely warrants no analysis the first time and just reactions - IT’S SO INTENSE! A+ review, as always
I am so excited to see your reaction to the visuals!!
FUTURE ME IS THIS AMAZING??
Edit: THIS WAS AMAZING WHAT??? I LOVE THIS >:3
Honestly I feel like that “Look what you turned me into!” is easily the best delivered line in the saga, one of the best in the series even, you can just feel his pain in shouting it like some part of him is absolutely shattered by the realization of what he’s become.
Listen, even if you didn’t do a lot of analysis this video, you still pointed out motifs and stuff that I did not! The trumpets in the end of Charybdis was such a good catch
I subbed just to say that your editor added a year to my lifespan with that intro.
Editor here -- awwwwwh 🥺 I super appreciate that ☺️
That underworld lick in the background when ody is stabbing Poseidon is so cool
Do not let this man see the open arms reprise
Honestly I think the reason why we heard the crew is because they are Odysseus' summoned backing vocals. While we know that gods can summon backing vocals and mortal men can't, Odysseus is no longer a man, he became the monster. So maybe by loosing his human side, risking it all, he gained that power. In "Get in the water" he even stole Poseidons trumpet and melody for one line, later took his trident (I think that is what it is called). And in the animation he gained red glowing eyes.
So I think embracing and turning into the monster, he is now able to summon vocals.
OMG 😂😂😂😂
THAT WAS a JUMPSCARE in the Premiere Roger 😂😂😂😂
Roger here -- I just wanted to try it out initially, but Casper agreed to put it in the video lol
@sanders_billy it was amazing 👑
Casper literally predicting the next little mes in all of the songs!🤣
Remember ody is part god at least a 3rd or demi.
20:40 omg from the underworld "all i hear are screams" BECAUSE OF POSEIDON'S SCREAMING
11:21 😂😂
My personal take on the voices are that they're both 'in the wind' like an echo of the calls at sea years ago. That and the chorus of Odysseus' divine blood being awoken/boosted by ares. Like the voices he summons are the ones that define who he is.
“Cuh-rib-dis” is how you say Charybdis
I love watching you just enjoy the music for the first reaction! It's great and so fun to watch!
Also, Casper sorry for being annoying about this but there is this idea I have, since Mortuis wants to play stray gods and people have expressed desire to see you show him something for a change have you two thought about streaming it together on OAR
It would be so cool to see a scene of hades coming to taunt poseidon while he's still lying there after the battle.
I don't know if anyone else mentioned this but it seems the popular theory is that Ody was blessed by at least Ares and Hades, during 600 strike, the main evidence
being red eyes and extra aggression from Ares and the fact it seems that Hades temporarily released Ody's crew for the 600 strikes.
Sorry I'm not the best at explaining but that seems to be the common theory
OOOH 😔😔
