Hi, Salty, I found your amazing video and I am trying to replicate your spectrum in my 28” across and 18” top to sand bed. I have 2 prime16s. At what height should I mount my prime and how far from each other. Should I be ok if I use your settings in this tank size?
Hello. The setting will work great on that tank. I recommend setting the light 11” above the water (not top of the tank, 11” above the water itself). As for spacing, on a 28” tank I would put them 9” in from each side, which would be 10” apart from each other. This will give you even crossover in the middle and full coverage end to end.
@@HarryCichlidshello. If the tank currently has coral in it remember to run acclimation mode. If it doesn’t you should be set. I would recommend just running the standard setting the program runs at, you can have a great mixed reef tank with that.
I I have this configuration since today! Nice explication just what I was looking for a spectrum based on ati I hope it gives good results, more vídeos please 👏🏼👏🏼
I have a full bubble tip anemone tank on this schedule under 1 AI Prime. Peak par is 175 with AI Prime. Recommendations are all over the board for bubble tip anemones up into the 200 range. This program should work great as I currently have it supporting BTAs.
The easy answer is yes it will work. Several people run this program on a 32. Here’s what you need to know. A single 16HD on the program puts out around 175 par 6” below the water right under the light. So that is max par. Sand bed will be 75-100. A 32 is 2 x 16 so you will have higher par. Not double, but higher. If you want a good mixed reef with SPS this is perfect. If you just want LPS and softies this is overkill and you could consider decreasing intensity.
Hey Salty, ive used this schedule for 6 months now when i started my cube 20 and its brilliant, great coral growth! I have one question, if I dim the CW down to like 15-20% at its max do i have to adjust the other colour parameters to compensate? Or do i just adjust the CW down and leave everything else as it is? Im looking for more coral colour than fish colour with the CW down, thanks again Salty!
Hello. I would suggest upping the others if you dim the CW. If you don’t you will be removing PAR. If you drop CW to 15% mid-day I would up the others to: UV = 51 V = 61 RB = 97 B = 92 Note: you will essentially be starting a NEW program so you will need to acclimate your tank to it. I’d run acclimation mode for 30 days.
It really depends on which AI Blade you are planning on buying. Are you buying the Grow or the Glow. They both hit different spectrums. As for bulbs I prefer ATI. Depending on which blade you use I would mix Blue Plus and Actinic and Coral plus. Let me know which blade you are intending to buy and if you like a deep dark blue or a bright blue look to the tank during the blue period as well as bulb control, can you turn on 2 independently or just all 4 together and I’ll help you pick stuff out.
@Salty Pops great video, would you recommend this setting for a waterbox 35.2 tank with AI Prime 16 HD with 12" flex arm. And if so is there any settings you would change in your profile?

Hey Salty, sorry to bother you again, i managed to get hold of a par meter for my tank to dail in my lights. my tank is 45cm (17inches) from top of water to sand and 26cm (10.2 inches) from ai prime mounted hight. however i am getting pretty low par readings of around 75par ish at the bottom of the tank i keep mostly sfties and LPS torches. should i increase your light settings to hit 100 par? or will that be too much strain on the lights? ive heard anywhere from 50-150 for softies and from what most people say 100 is ideal? if i was to increase would i increase across the board using your settings till? i think you mentioned there is an issues with burning out the lenses going higher?
Hello. A couple things on your question. 75ish is about what I get in the ends at the bottom of my tank. In the center bottom I got higher as my 2 primes are only 14” away from each other, so I got cross over. With that said, on the 75 ends, I did have LPS placed there. Ultimately, if the corals that are there now are happy, no need to change anything. If you do decide to change things, below are some guidelines. However, if you are not happy with your par results, you could also consider adding another light. - Feel free to adjust Violet, Royal Blue, and Blue up. - Do not change UV. Above 70% lens burn rather quickly. Doesn’t mean you can’t run higher than 70%, just means you will be replacing lenses. - Do not increase white, green, or red. These are already on the max end and I would not go any higher.

Thank you for so much info. Trying this set up on a 55g mixed. Question, my tank is 36” wide, how far apart do you have your lights from each other if I do two?
I have 2 x Prime on a 36” wide as well. They are 11” in from each side making them 14” from each other. That give full coverage to the edge with a nice hot spot in the middle.
I just started using your schedule, Can you advise what intensity percentage I you would recommend for my tank? It's a 28 gallon cube with dimensions of 19½ x 20¾ x 17½ inches
You should t have to change anything. I am running it without changes on my fluval flex 15 gallon bubble tip anemone tank without change. Several other people have let me know they are running it on tanks as small as 13.5 gallons without change.
@@saltypops4276 I just added a second AI Prime 16HD for better dispersion. Both are running your schedule on the aforementioned tank. Should I turn down the intensity now that I have two?
In general, yes I would turn it down, probably by 30%-40%. Really depends on the light demand of the corals in the tank. Keep in mind the single prime with my program gives about 175 par a few inches below the water. With 2 close together on a small tank you are going to get a big or bump, so turning them down would be recommended, unless of course you are planning a high light demanding SPS tank.
@@saltypops4276 In light of your response and the fact that it looks like I'm either getting a lot stringy algae or my corals are expelling zooxanthellae, I removed the second AI Prime and reset your schedule back to full with a single light. The second one will go into storage as a backup/QT tank light. Thank you.
I’ve never personally owned that brand. If you can build custom spectrums you should be able to manually program it in with the numbers from this spectrum.
My lens did not melt with this setting. On my old primes I saw some darkening on the UV and Violet but on the newer prime that has been running 1.5 years there is no issues. The newer prime lens looks a bit different and holds up a bit better.
newer version of the 16HD. I have some that are a few years old and they developed some dark spots. But the one I purchased 1.5 years ago still looks great. Both are 16HD but when I look at the lenses on the 2 of them the newer one looks different. Like there is a coating over those specific LEDs.

It will. Several people are using it on SPS, myself included. A single 16 with this program puts out 175-200 par a few inches below the water so a 32 will get you high par with this program. Couple things, I always recommend double checking %s after uploading the program and if you currently have coral in the tank remember to run acclimation mode.
@@saltypops4276 Thanks for getting back to me. I couldn’t find a schedule that gave me the right amount of par. I’m new to these lights. What is your recommendation for the acclamation mode?
I have a RedSea Reefer Nano Gen 1 (28 gal) and was wondering if I should lower the intensity of the white light or if this would be a perfect fit for it? Thanks in advance!
If you are running a single AI Prime 16 HD you are all set. I recommend 11” above the water. I run this program on a fluval flex 15 gal as is. No changes.
Salty, I have a Fluval 13.5 how do I get your light settings for the tank? I'm eventually going to set it up on my Red Sea Reef 20 gallon. But it needs a glass panel replaced. I have no social media. I need to know how to set the light intensity throughout the day. Are ya in any forums that you shared it in?
I’ve had some people run shallow tanks and leave it as is. Really depends on what you plan to put in it. I wouldn’t decrease more than 20-30%. Keep in mind that the light schedule will darken when you reduce so if you don’t like that you may need to add some more white.
@@sergeybuzhin4396 the current setting is 60%. When I said 20-30% I meant reduce the numbers I am running by 20-30% so white would be 42-48%. Start there then you can move up
Hello. Yes you can. Some people have noted that it imports fine and some noted they had to do the math and manually adjust a few of the color spectrums due to not importing properly. If you already have coral make sure to acclimate. Also, depending on the type of coral, you may want to decrease settings. With the 16HD mounted 11” above the water, you’ll get about 200 par under the light about 6” below the water.
I really like your schedule and I want to use it on my set up I have a 32 Biocube With a Ai 16 on the hood I took out the stock led’s cut a hole and put the Ai on the top instead. Would this schedule be overkill or will it be fine ? I’m trying to grow softies and lps only.
Hello. Many people have ran it on a 32 biocube and it does great. My only concern is how you have it mounted and that would be for any program you run. The light should be anywhere from 10-12 inches off the water in order to get proper spread and color mix. I run mine 11” off the water. I would recommend you get a mounting arm and completely remove the top of the tank.
@@saltypops4276 yea that was my first intention but the tank is located In my room I used the mounting arm with the top off and the lights really bothered my eyes due to where it’s located so I had to either mount in on the top or go with the stock lights but it covers the tank pretty good and I made a bigger hole for a little more spread my issue is really worried about it being too powerful because it is closer to the water ?
@@markellrobinson53 I wouldn’t worry about that. The 11” of air most people run really doesn’t diminish par much at all. It is once the light hits water that par starts to diminish. So intensity should t be an issue.
Hello, I see that it is not moonlight, do you not recommend it? I know there are countless opinions. My AI Prime 16 Hd does not have the moonlight channel, in my configuration I have it with some blue. Thank you!!
Hello. Opinions vary widely on moonlight, and I am somewhere in the middle. Here’s my thoughts. If you like the look of the moonlight. Then by all means run it. After all we have these tanks for our viewing pleasure. If you are running moonlight for coral health, it is not needed. If you have corals you are trying to get to spawn, then it will help. I personally have never added moonlight to any of my schedules. As for the blue. Blue should be just fine. A lot of the MH / T5 combo systems have a few blue moonlight LEDs. HOWEVER, the most important thing to consider is, if you are running those blue LEDs all day for your schedule and again at night for your moonlight, you are going to impact / shorten the life span of those specific LEDs, because total hours ran for the day will be extremely high.
Thanks for your response. Of course, the issue of turning on blue all night is not a good idea to prolong its life, which is why it seems strange to me not to see the moonlight channel on my screen. I imagine that there are several versions of this screen and this one does not have it. Another option would be to moonlight with blue for just a couple of hours and then turn it off. Your configuration turns off all the lights at 10pm, I could extend some blue at 1% for a couple of hours so we can see more of the aquarium before going to bed. Thanks
A very low percentage should be fine. I find it odd you don’t have the moonlight option as in the 16HD there is specific LEDs dedicated to moonlight. Send me a screen shot of the app and I’ll see if I can help. Also, you could shift start and stop times of the whole schedule to better align with your viewing time if you would like.
Hello, I think there is no need to send you the screenshots, I sent an email to AI support and they told me that the wifi version does not have the moonlight channel. Thank you very much for your help

@@saltypops4276 Thankyou so much for your quick response!! My tank is 40cm h and ai is around 13 inches from water surface. There’s roughly a 34% difference between my tank height to yours. Would it be safe to adjust your settings to roughly factor in that difference? Tank corals are lps/softies and rock work is arch style and just reaches mid tank. Should I keep your settings or apply the 34% difference? My settings will look like this if I do Blue period Both purples are on 40%, 48% Blues are on 76%, 72% White period Purples 28%, 35% Blues 57%, 52% Green 10% Red 7% White 40% Thanks again!!

Wow that’s amazing!! Majority of my softies are Zoas and my lps are a mix of an acan garden, goni garden, deshi, fungi, Duncan’s, blasto and a scolly. Should be fine. Would you suggest to ramp up the percentage of the lights everyday so it won’t freak out the corals until it reaches the the spectrums I want it to be at? Also, Will this work on a 8 hour light schedule and does white light matter for this schedule to succeed? Cause as you can see most of my lps favour blue light more? I was thinking of just leaving the lights at 10% on the day period. But In my case my day period is only running 2 hours a day as my schedule only runs for 8 hours Sorry for the questions! Everytime I ask you something some other questions pop up but I’m pretty sure I’m almost ready to change my settings :) Thanks again for answering everything so fast!
@@chikovillavert486 As for ramp up. It really depends on how much the intensity is changing. If it is a drastic change then you can run acclimation. If it is not drastically different then you should be fine. It will absolutely work on an 8 hour schedule you can adjust to run whatever length you want. As for white light. White light is not needed to keep corals alive and healthy. What the white light does do is excel the growth rate and aid in color development. So as long as you are ok with a slower growth rate you can eliminate the white period. The other advantage of the white period is viewing fish and non-fluorescent coral. There is another individual on here that took this schedule and ran straight blue with just 10-15% white in the middle of the day. Remember if you delete the white, leave the blue high. So essentially where the blue ramps up, leave them there all day. So if you want all blue your schedule would be (adjust start time to what you want): 12p - all off 1pm UV = 60% Violet = 72% Royal Blue = 114% Blue = 108% 7pm UV = 60% Violet = 72% Royal Blue = 114% Blue = 108% 8pm - all off I mentioned someone else did this and added some white in the middle of the day at 10-15% and it worked well. You could consider a touch of red and green there as well but not needed unless you want it.

Hey. Glad you like the program. Your new tank is very similar to one of the tanks I am running the program on. My 45 gallon is 36” (91.44 cm) wide and the height is 24” (60.96 cm). On this tank I run 2 primes. They are spaced 11” (27.94 cm) in from each side which means they are 14” (35.56 cm) from each other and it does great in a mixed reef with lower light SPS. Monti, birdsnest, a couple no name acro. Also note my lights are 11” (27.94 cm) above the water. If you are staying LPS dominated with softies and some lower light SPS like Monti birdsnest pocillopora, stylophora, you should be good with 2 primes. I grow my Monti cap 18” (45.72 cm) below the water, so pretty deep down. If you want to go with more SPS dominated tank or higher light demanding SPS, a 3rd is recommended. Are far as settings. I would not change them. I would add more lights instead of changing settings. The concern around changing settings is burning out lenses which then you don’t have a working light until you get it fixed or replace it. Putting the values higher, specifically UV will burn out the lenses and increase overall heat to the unit. Both are bad.

What’s the par like with just two primes? I’ve tried this schedule and didn’t have high enough par for my sps.
Peak reading is ~175 about 6” below the water right under the puck.
How can I download your presets
Hello. I have it saved in the files section of the FaceBook group AI Prime/Hydra Reef Group. It is called Salty Pops. OR create it in just 8 points.
Thank you.
@@NormTre I think one light on your tank is plenty. If you got algae bump up the cleanup crew.
Any idea of this setting can be used on evergrow leds ?
I’ve never personally owned that brand. If you can build custom spectrums you should be able to manually program it in with the numbers from this spectrum.
You experience lens burn? My lens melted
My lens did not melt with this setting. On my old primes I saw some darkening on the UV and Violet but on the newer prime that has been running 1.5 years there is no issues. The newer prime lens looks a bit different and holds up a bit better.
@ when you say newer prime do you mean like a newer version of the 16HD? Or do you mean the 16Hd compared to the old Prime HD
newer version of the 16HD. I have some that are a few years old and they developed some dark spots. But the one I purchased 1.5 years ago still looks great. Both are 16HD but when I look at the lenses on the 2 of them the newer one looks different. Like there is a coating over those specific LEDs.

Hello, Will this work for SPS corals? 75g standard with 2 32HDs
I would run it for 30 days starting at 70% +/- depending on the par of your previous setting.
I have a RedSea Reefer Nano Gen 1 (28 gal) and was wondering if I should lower the intensity of the white light or if this would be a perfect fit for it? Thanks in advance!

Hello! Tell me how much to reduce your lighting settings if I have an aquarium 30x16x13 (h)?
I’ve had some people run shallow tanks and leave it as is. Really depends on what you plan to put in it. I wouldn’t decrease more than 20-30%. Keep in mind that the light schedule will darken when you reduce so if you don’t like that you may need to add some more white.
Corals are soft. Not much white light 60%?
@@sergeybuzhin4396 the current setting is 60%. When I said 20-30% I meant reduce the numbers I am running by 20-30% so white would be 42-48%. Start there then you can move up

How would I use this on my fluval evo 13.5 ?

Hello, can i use this schedual for hydra 26 and cubic50 tank? Thanks.
I just downloaded this file yesterday for my 30gallon long reef tank. @Salty Pops is there anything i need to know?
Unless you already run a lot of white light, I strongly suggest you run a 30 day acclimation as white light takes time to acclimate to.
Hi Saltypops, would your preset also works with a 32HD? Or should I do some corrections? 14`` from surface and mostly Euphyllias
It will work. People reported it downloaded just fine. Although I recommend after download to double check the %’s to make sure.

Hello, I have written you a private message on your Facebook account so I can send you the screenshots. Thank you
Hello, I think there is no need to send you the screenshots, I sent an email to AI support and they told me that the wifi version does not have the moonlight channel. Thank you very much for your help

Blues are on 76%, 72%
White period
Purples 28%, 35%
Blues 57%, 52%
Green 10%

But In my case my day period is only running 2 hours a day as my schedule only runs for 8 hours
Sorry for the questions! Everytime I ask you something some other questions pop up but I’m pretty sure I’m almost ready to change my settings :)
Thanks again for answering everything so fast!
So if you want all blue your schedule would be (adjust start time to what you want):
12p - all off
1pm
UV = 60%
Violet = 72%
Royal Blue = 114%
Blue = 108%
7pm
UV = 60%
Violet = 72%
Royal Blue = 114%
Blue = 108%
8pm - all off
I mentioned someone else did this and added some white in the middle of the day at 10-15% and it worked well. You could consider a touch of red and green there as well but not needed unless you want it.
What Vortech mode settings are you using and at what percentages?

Hello. Did you run acclimation mode? Not required but always a good idea to help corals adjust. Should see things start opening up bigger rather quickly definitely by a month in. As for coloration, you should be an improvement immediately and more as time goes on. For your cloves, put them low or sand bed in lower flow, especially if they aren’t doing well.

@@saltypops4276 so after switching to the new tank. I ran your specs exactly but found out after some trial and error it was still too strong reduced it a little and now all corals are much happier.
