    On my new tank, I'm thinking of going all blades. But curious to know how white you can make them? I love white light in the middle/peak of the day, I would probably have 3 blades, 2 of the outside ones being the blue spectrum but the middle one being mainly white spectrum, is this doable? Or do you think its hard to acheive real white light/halide looking light?

    • @TreasureCorals
      @TreasureCorals  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a great question. I think it would, but I just move these around on the reef tank and it's no biggie. On my Lagoon they are fixed and it is definitely not ideal, but not a deal breaker either for me.

    Would you elaborate on the decision to have multiple Blade *Grow* lights and not using a "Glow" instead of one to broaden the spectrum? I have the Grow and will add another Blade, but am leaning toward the Glow for the 2nd.

    • @TreasureCorals
      @TreasureCorals  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Great question. Two reasons: if you are mixing 3 lights, then glow is a viable option, but if 2 - you might get the banding where the front would be different than the back. Second - I personally not a huge fan of purple and deep purple and prefer my tanks more crisper blue, I find that I can get a more aesthetically pleasing look with the grows, they are super flexible.

      Welcome and thanks for the sub. That's actually a cool combo - I am so curious to try the freshwater on the saltwater tank and I think it would make for a great look. Definitely an interesting combo, I would just be concerned with the mixing if you look at the tank from the side.

      @@TreasureCorals Yes, I'll have to see but this tank isn't really visible from the side. I may purchase a glow and a grow first and see how well the grow can make pink and blue corals look. In your tank It looked like it can produce fairly white light.

      Assuming a creative mounting solution could enable this, 2 lights could be placed next to eachother and then at slightly offset angles such that the 95%+ of the main surface area they cover completely overlap. I’m thinking 2 lights towards the front of the tank aimed slightly backwards. Then as budget allows or initially if you have the cash, 2 lights could be added in a similar manner closer to the back of the tank. It’s interesting the LED count you get per set of 2 9-inch pucks if you do a freshwater and a glow vs. 2 grows (see below):
      2 Grows:
      24 Royal Blue
      12 Blue
      12 Cool White
      1 Freshwater + 1 Glow:
      3 405nm
      3 415nm
      6 430nm
      12 Royal Blue
      2 Blue
      16 Cool White
      4 Warm White
      2 Red
      In comparison to the 2 grows, you lose 12 Royal Blues and 10 Blues, but you gain 4 Cool Whites, 4 Warm Whites, 2 Reds and then 12 in the 405-430nm range. Seems like a lot more flexibility with the Freshwater/Glow option.

    • @Cgraseck
      @Cgraseck ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@timjohnson3913 I'm currently using one grow(back of tank), one Fresh Water ( center) and one glow (up front). I'm growing primarily SPS including Acros. Everything seems to be growing nicely but I am experiencing some uglys. The tank was started as an instareef using substrate and rubble from a 19 year old reef with a deep sand bed ( that was a thing 20 years ago)😁. It was started in April of 23 so uglys are not unexpected.

    I have a an LPS dominant tank that is 48x24x24 and am looking at getting two blades but can’t decide if I want to get two grows or a grow and a glow. What do you recommend?

  • @raisethereef
    @raisethereef ปีที่แล้ว

    Adding a Glow to the LPS tank would make it glow (no pun intended) lol
    The Violet LEDs fluoresce things that Royal and blue can’t. You wouldn’t need them for PAR but just straight fluorescence!

      Good point, Ryan, however I played around and was not able to see TOO much of a difference in fluorescence. The royal blue in grow seem to get a very similar effect.

    How do I get your schedule onto my light I download the file but idk how to get in on it?

  • @Botzz28

    The whiter look is always more satisfying for me too. I hate tanks that just have that washed out deep blue look. White spectrum is much getter for growth as well.

      @@reef_water_drop interesting. I thought Hydras were supported, see if there's an option to update "legacy" devices and perhaps see what AI says about it officially.

      I am not a lighting expert (only play one on TV), but I would think that their white channel should include some red and green spectrum, just not explicit. I wonder if that is actually the case though - if anyone could chime in, that would be great.
