I remember you and your dad fishing tournaments together when you were a young teen at SML. I'm from Salem and have fished there since the mid 70's. Thanks for the tip and good luck!
I am a 70 ye old bass fisherman and I have seen lots of techniques come and go, but young man, every time you introduce a new twist or some new info, you live up to the hype. I can see why you are a successful tour angler and you have a personality to go along with it. I have learned something from every one of your videos. Best of luck with MLF!
I remember somebody showing me about the crooked rigging 20+ years ago when i was a kid. You just reminded me of it. Whatever i remember being taught regarding it kind of all just came back to me now. This video couldn't have came at the best time since i just starting making that worm yesterday. a 6" BOT worm. Subscribed, thanks again!
I've been fishing floating worms for at least 25 years. I keep a rod rigged for floaters year round. I've caught more than a handful of heavyweight bass on floating worms. It's truly a deadly presentation when fished in the right place. Never put one on crooked except the times I may have enjoyed to many refreshments. Lol. May just have to give that a try. That side to side action is pretty much what a weightless sinko does naturally.
Great information and presentation. Thanks D. I’m 77 and used to throw the S WORM a lot. Just started again and it all came back to me quickly. Was using it straight to cover a lot of grass and caught em that way. Appreciate your details and I’ll be throwing it through the summer 👍
Learned years ago to rig the hook deeper into the nose of the worm so it threads o yo the line and it will bend when you twitch it and makes the worm dart side around pretty good too
Here in Central Missouri I watched bass patrolling stumps/rocks on a warm day last week. Had some success with drop shotting a roboworm but kept spooking them. Heading out late Monday to try bubblegum and menthiolate both described ways along with wacky rigged! Excited to try it out!
Brought back memories, thanks. Back 55 years ago we wanted the worm to just float and tick the weeds. So we carried syringes with us to inject a little air in tail. We wanted to regulate the fall rate. If we carried syringes today we might get some odd looks. Thanks again
thanks for jogging my memory used them in farm ponds growing up started with the pre rigged spinner worm then progressed to the floating worm absolutely slayed them for years
Discovered that bend technique several years ago by accident when I rigged it different. Another trick I do is thread the worm up the line so the hook is about 2 more inches down the worm. Sounds weird but it really works good.
you prolly dont care at all but does anyone know of a method to get back into an Instagram account? I stupidly lost the account password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Rogelio Anakin thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and Im trying it out atm. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
I just have to thank you for taking the time to show this technique. The video was concise to the point and it showed exactly what we needed to do. Again, thank you!
So I caught a nice bass floating a Z-Man bubble gum Finesse Wormz. I gave you a shout out on Fishbrain. Fishbrain is a nice app, but your lures are not listed on it. I wonder if you can do something about that?
Thanks for being so generous with your knowledge! Caught the bass fishing bug last year and working hard to get better at it and rely on people like you (multiple time AOY) to help me shorten the learning curve. Went out to Briery late yesterday and caught 4 with the biggest being 4lbs 6oz. Used a green pumpkin senko rigged with pointed end on the knot and a heavy kink in the worm.
Thanks for doing these types of videos. Some of these things I was already aware of but some of the little details I hadn't thought about. Thanks a bunch
I learned about the floating worm from an episode of Roland Martin's tv show back in the 90s. He called it "the bubble gum worm technique" & to this very day I've got some bubble gum pink Zoom Trick worms in my tackle box. 👍
I have good success letting the worm sink on a point from 8 to 16 feet and then slowly twitch it back in pausing to let it sink again. You will see your line start going off to one side.........yep another one got it. I fish a particular lake where the fishing pressure is extreme and the water is clear. Lots of times they will not come up to get the worm, so if you drop it down to them they will take it. This is a slow lazy approach but with a 5/0 hook sinks faster than you think. I love fishing heavy cover too, just that when the fish move out of that and out into open water on points and humps, you can still have fun with a floating worm letting it sink down to them. Worked well yesterday as the spawn is late and the bass were holding on secondary points and structure about 100 feet into the coves, we had a couple more COLD.......Brrrrr days and nights and as it warmed up again the bait fish moved into the coves and the bass followed them, so I would find a ditch or stumps or something in the back middle of a cove and they were staged there. They would not come up but worked well sinking it to them. I only kept two males to eat, our first spring fresh fish. Caught six nice Bluegills on a beetle spin to go with them, do not wish to clean more than that. Lol. Cheers Kit
Big D yeah my dad used those pre rigged worm harnesses and hook me across my forehead I was maybe 3 I’m 57 now. Wish I had a buck for every hook I’ve yanked out of somewhere. Lol That thing looks pretty awesome I like the big bend less forward movement, almost like a walking bait. God Bless and peace
Thanks David, I have not thrown the floating form for 20 years. It was unbelievable how good it was in shallow backwaters. I love to throw something different. Thanks again 🤫
I like the techniques you mention. The way I rig floating worms is on a light wire straight shank worm hook (owner preferably), and rig the worm all the way up the shank with just the hook exposed, pretty much like a jig. Twitch it across a drop off or some structure and you’ll catch em. It’s got a snake like action.
My go to bait spring through fall. In AZ the water is clear 95% of the time. I have most success throwing it wherever you'd throw a frog during sunrise or sunset. I just throw it & let it sink twitch 1 or 2 times sink it & repeat. Trickworms work best for me.
I always have a floating worm tied on all year. If I can’t catch them on that. I can’t catch them on anything. It’s my confidence bait for sure. I always use a 4/0 light wire hook with a swivel. I have a swivel with about 6-8” leader. I do change my swivel size depending on how deep I want it. I also use 15lb braided line but I always use 10lb floro leader. My secret is black. I know a lot of people don’t use black but I seem to catch bigger bass with black worm. I usually only use three colors white, black, and green pumpkin. That’s what works for me. I never go to the lake without it tied on. I’ve probably almost have become to dependent on it.
So i remember passin on very few of your episodes last year, but this was 1.so i just watched & thank god i did.had NO IDEA(but makes sense)the importance of rigging.gonna throw it on exact rig cuz i bought your "sweetie"
You surely don’t buy into that bs to ya Or at least not a year later. It’s proven now it was all a hoax. Gov is not doctors. They silenced real Practicing doctors and ordered their agendas They care nothing about our health. Look no further than abortion.
I have used floating worms for the last 20 years with a lot of success. I was always told to rig it as straight as possible to keep the line twist to a minimum. You do not mention in this video what you do to minimize line twist. No matter what I have tried I still get line twist but it seemed to be worse when the worm moved side to side. I would like to add the side to side action you demonstrate in the video with the big bend but I am wary of the line twist. I hope you can help me with this. I really enjoyed this video as you explained everything about using the trick worm effectively.

I used to fish a floating worm back in the 80's. Now that I've gotten back into fishing, I'm going to start using your technique. Hurry up spring.
Who the hell would dislike the video? Great work David... very thankful to learn the details on this!
I thought the same thing chris

Best DD video I have watched. The video moved along well. Kudos to DD for reading to comments
I am a dedicated plastic worm fisherman, and this has been very eye opening to me. good video.
Fantastic video. You give more technique details than any other float worm video that I have seen, and I've seen a bunch. You bring the juice !
Learned years ago to rig the hook deeper into the nose of the worm so it threads o yo the line and it will bend when you twitch it and makes the worm dart side around pretty good too
Loved seeing that worm in action and the bass at the end. Just subscribed.
Good lesson there. Thanks for showing us how it's done. I'm glad I found your channel.
Very well presented with complete information, including the lines, hook sizes and rigging demo. Thanks also for the shhh tips! Gonna try it out!’
Thanks David for the excellent video! Great info!

That's funny
You can still get a worm blower that doesn’t look like a syringe
@@AlergicToSnow yes, they have them at Walmart
It work flawlessly 🔥, I been using the floating worm wrong all this time, THANK YOU!!!!
I have been using a floating worm for ever it's a great bait been using them scents the late 70s
I really enjoyed that especially the demo. Incidentally, I have two of the proficiency rods 7'2" M/H, I love them.
Thanks David for this video.guys like you are truly awesome. You guys help us beginners so much thank you an BE SAFE AN GOD BLESS.
It’s been my go to bait in spring for years
Awesome video. I've fished this technique for 45 years. Lol. Awesome
thanks for jogging my memory used them in farm ponds growing up started with the pre rigged spinner worm then progressed to the floating worm absolutely slayed them for years
Thoroughly enjoyed your video!! Thank-You very much, Jim.
I am gonna try that crooked technique this weekend. Thank YOU !
Discovered that bend technique several years ago by accident when I rigged it different. Another trick I do is thread the worm up the line so the hook is about 2 more inches down the worm. Sounds weird but it really works good.
Yup, same.

@Rogelio Anakin It worked and I actually got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thank you so much you saved my account !
Ahhh, this just confirms what I've been doing for years, putting bends in my worms when using weightless floating worms. Thanks for sharing D.D..

Great video and great details on why you do it the way you do. Thank you. Ps your my favorite pro You Tuber.
Great presentation, thanks for posting.
Love this, super hyped cant wait to try this weekend!
Just used this for the first time on my home lake. Caught a nice 4-pounder up shallow in late April on an overcast day. Bubble gum pink.
Thanks for doing these types of videos. Some of these things I was already aware of but some of the little details I hadn't thought about. Thanks a bunch

I shared it with my brother we both fish tournaments and maybe this will help us. Thank from Arkansas!!!!
Nice to see how to properly work and rig the worm! I've always worked it to high in the water. Can't wait to try it out this weekend!

You're spot-on with that technique. I've been using the Creme Scoundrel like this for most of my life. Great video D.
Absolutely my favorite way to fish over the past couple years, great tip, thank you!
Fisherman take notes! Great video ❤

Thanks I never thought about the bend.
Thanks for spilling the beans. I'll give it a try up here in MN.

2/0 offset round bend is best! Also 6'6 med or MH with 10# mono. All u need!
Why go small when you can go big with hook. The fish is so focused on bright color size of hook don't matter.
I'll go up to a 3/0 and see@@DavidDudley

I've been workin' so hard to get that worm straight. I won't have ant trouble riggin' it crooked. Can't wait to try this on my next trip out.
Some great information. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much David. I used to use a swivel to counter the line twist. Do you? And OUTTRO

Great video David. Thanks for sharing!
Love it. Gonna start using it here in Florida. My favorite local place to fish has a ton of logs and lay downs. I’ll keep ya posted. 👊🏼👊🏼
Great tip from professor
Thanks David! Great tips!! If I catch a bass Saturday 5lbs or greater, I’m dedicating it to you. Thanks for all you do.
Tag me on IG if you do!
What an awesome technique! Thanks for sharing 👍
Bet scaling this technique down will work for trout, perch, panfish and miniature manta rays!
Thanks David will use this
Grew up throwing the pre rigged deal from Walmart ... and smoked em. Once I “learned” about bass fishing I thought it was ridiculous. Crazy
Thanks Dudley!!
GREAT VIDEO Dawg!! I Just *"Liked & Subscribed!!"* Thanks Brotha, Keep'em Coming!
Thanks David - Great video
Dang, I’ve been doing it wrong this whole time! Thanks for the tips!
Keep Growing and Teaching DD 🙌🎣🍀🎣🙏😇🙏
I've never used a floating worm, but I'm on my way to the lake to go try it. Thanks for the tip.
Thanks I love you vids I always learn something 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Love your videos man makes me feel like a pro
You should check out Doug Hannons floating worm rigging
Awesome video
Love the bubblegum floating worm...
I'm gonna try this tomor, great way of showing us the difference in the water;;;;;;
Great video David!!
With all this Corona hanging around would like thank you and all the pros 😊👍 for sharing your experience 🐟

As always, you the man!! Keep up the great work buddy and may God keep you and your family safe in this crazy time of chaos. 🤙💪🙏👍🏻😉
This was very helpful! Thanks David! I'm actually going fishing tomorrow and I'm excited to try this out as I've never used a floating worm.
I won't tell anyone your secret rigging method:) Awesome video sir, thank you!
I fish a lot from the bank. I do not have a boat.A lot of grass and rocks in the areas I fish one pond and one local lake.
Love the way you rigged this!
Did you get the pool setup to show how different baits run?
Great info man. Really appreciate it.
Thank you very much really good advice please do video on spinnerbaits 👍
Just stumbled onto your video... Wow! Thank you! I liked it, and subscribed. Now... where can I buy your rod?
Very informative thank you

Lee Willinger he’s using braid, braid doesn’t twist up nearly as bad as mono or flouro
Thanks fish8five6
Great stuff David. Can't wait to try it out.
what position do u hold the rod/rod tip when working the worm. Like a jerkbait or elevating the tip up?
Awesome, can't wait until those rods come out. Great video!!!
I've never tried a floating worm before... I may have to give it a go on Champlain
Great tip. Thank you David.
There's a pond about 900 feet from my house; I'm headed down there in about ten minutes to give the crooked floater a try. Thanks.
Any luck?
@@lambassted3040 No strikes at the pond but the crookedly floater got some attention at a couple of lakes from the early morning bass.
What's your thoughts on using a swivel from your braid to leader ?
