Hope you all enjoy this video! Even though the title implies soup season ends in spring, can anyone else eat soup all year round, regardless of the weather?! 🙋♀️ Thanks for watching 🥰
Hi,great video! In answer to your question, yes, I enjoy soup no matter what season I'm in. Also, I believe you're referring to the root end of the garlic. If you were to plant your cloves, that side would go down. 😊
I'm moroccan north African we use turmeric a lot. It's good for health the color is gorgeous and makes everything taste better. So to avoid bitterness of spices like turmeric or cumin or coriander seeds or any other spice. You put half the amount of spices you need for a recipe at the start and put the other half two or three minutes before the end of cooking time. Or for soups add the second half when you blend it. This way you don't compromise the amount or taste and flavor of spices in a dish. Especially turmeric to have all the benefits from it.
A little side note if you don't mind. :) It's better not to add onion, garlic and ginger to the pan at the same time. Onion contains much more water than garlic and ginger so it takes significantly more time for onion to cook than needed for garlic and ginger. If you add all three ingredients at the same time, it's just impossible for all three to be cooked properly - you'll get undercooked onion and well-cooked garlic ang ginger OR well-cooked onion and burnt garlic and ginger. You'd rather add onion firstly, cook it until it gets slightly golden brown and then add garlic and ginger, cook it for 2-3 minutes more, and voila - you get all three ingredients properly cooked. :)
I'm allergic to tomato (yes it makes eating meatless VERY HARD) but watching you make that soup made me realize I could probably sub red bell pepper for a similar effect that won't destroy my life. Might have to add some acid to balance it, but I'm so going to make that this weekend!
@@Eddisdedd It was amazing!! I had to add a significant amount of lemon juice to compensate for the bell peppers not having the acid content of tomatoes, but I loved it, highly recommend you try! It was a little weird, though, it looked so much like tomato soup that I had to psych myself up to eat it the first couple times because I was expecting it to cause a reaction lmao.
you could also add sumak to get some of the slightly sweet sharpness of the tomato that might be missing ! I add it to a bunch of things that use tomatoes to really bring out the flavour, especially if the tomatoes aren't that great :)
An Indian here. Lately many countries have started using turmeric because of its health benefits. But many don't know the amount to be used. When we cook, we use turmeric in each and every recipe. Just 1/4th (a quarter) teaspoon is sufficient for a dish cooked for 5 people.
Thank you for saying "boyfriend/husband." Too many people try to force the term "partner" on everyone, despite not all of us wanting our romantic relationships to sound like business arrangements. If I wanted to call someone a "partner," I'd start a business with someone. 😂
I cook soup all year long! its just so budget friendly to make a big pot of soup to last days and days, very much worth eating even if its warm outside for how much money you can save imo
I was brought up in an Italian family, and from a small age, we ate minestrone, pasta cecci (chickpeas), pasta e patate(potatoes), pasta pisselli( (peas) or lentichie (lentils). I now cook them all for my kids. But I have never referred these dishes as vegan, although no dairy products are used.
I just made the tomato soup for dinner tonight. It was a family hit! I used a combo of white beans and soaked cashews to make it creamy. Perfect for this chilly weather
We are not vegan but I love your recipes and your passion! I’m always looking for more ways to weave in more plant based recipes into my cooking rotation! Please keep them coming!:)
Thank you very much for making these videos. Growing up the only foods in my home were frozen in a mix or microwaved. I feel more inspired to cook now being only 20 years old. Cooking vegan dishes feels so much easier than cooking with meat. Unfortunately my parents are intolerant of my veganism, but thats not stopping me.
This is BY FAR my favourite video about soups. It’s not winter anymore but I am making these soups and the let them cool down to make then suitable for summer and hey…. I am mesmerized!! Also, I am 29weeks pregnant and my baby is having all the nutrients he needs. So grateful for this! ❤️
Personal tolerance varies, but in general lactose intolerant people can drink heavy cream without issue up to a cup or so (which is way more than you'd ever consume in most recipes). This is because there is almost no sugar of any kind in heavy cream (including lactose), so there's nothing that you'd need lactase to process. I cook for someone lactose intolerant and me finding this out was a revelation for him. Now he can enjoy a lot of creamy recipes without issue! And if it's a creamy parmesan type recipe, I highly recommend adding heavy cream and garlic powder. It's a great substitute for that parmesan taste (I eat it too when I don't have parmesan, even though I'm not lactose intolerant!).
@@kinseylise8595Hi, slight inaccuracy here, it is actually the low sugar content of heavy cream that allows for lactose intolerants to process it with little issue. That is because Lactose is a sugar - not a protein.
I just discovered you. I'm not vegan but as I'm getting older, health and fitness are a priority. I want more plant based meal options and your videos are a revelation! Plus, fun and simple.
For the avgolemono soup you can substitute eggs with aquafaba. Aquafaba is the water you drain from the chickpeas tin you use for the recipe. You can use it to make vegan mayonnaise too ....
this is the first video of yours that ive seen and i really love how candid you are about improvising based on whats in your kitchen. i feel like working with what you have and customizing recipes to your needs is a vital part of cooking that gets overlooked online ♡
Sarah - I just found out this week that the juice from a can of chickpeas (Aquafaba) can be used as an egg substitute. When whisked up and sugar etc added, you can make the most delicious vegan cakes imaginable - do try it. Love your channel (new subscriber).
@My name My last name well cakes and desserts in general aren't really supposed to be a health bomb - that's just my experience tho! Hope this helps!!
Heyy! Just 2 cents from a Hungarian. When you add paprika/chili to something thats being fried in oil, first remove the pan from the stove, let it cool off for a few seconds and then add the paprika. If youre making a soup, or stew, add the water too, and then place it back on the stove. This way it preserves it's fresh taste, and wont burn. Cheers!
Your way of sharing the recipe is top notch you also say if what the original was and what substitute you did and not saying anything bad about egg, chicken or fish. The best way of making people follow your recipe by not hating but educating the substitute. Awesome video.
Ah man! Sundubu jjigae, man, and the way you ate it by spooning some onto rice, nostalgia. I lived in Korea for 5 years and we’d always get this in winter at out local diner
Thank you so much! My husband and I do vegan fasting 6 months throughout the year for religious reasons, it's great to have more ideas, especially as one of our longer fasts is coming up soon!
When it comes to fresh herbs... tyme, rosemary, oregano, basil... They root really easily. If you put the stems of the extras with the leaves removed until they are out of the water, the root. Then you can grow it in a pot on your window shelf. Just change the water when it clouds as it roots. No waste
today I had the first soup - roast tomato, with the beans. simple and wholesome. beautiful blending of toms, onions and beans. rustic and nourishing. was a bit taken aback at how good it was. yum.
These all look lovely! I've got some greek girl advice about the avgolemono soup: you can make it thicker if you add a bit of corn flour, you don't need Just Egg. Add a spoonful in a cup of !cold! water, make a slurry and add it to your soup (more or less depending on the amount of soup you're making) 💗 Another avgolemono soup you might love is vegan Mageiritsa (it's a soup they make in Easter, not vegan by default, but many people make it with oyster mushrooms instead of meat. Lettuce, dill, spring onions, it's yummy). I'm super inspired now, thank you :D
I love all of these different soup recipes. They are so versatile. The one that I am going to be trying tomorrow is the chickpea stew. I am so excited to try this. I have been looking for beginner, vegan friendly options for different food to be healthy so I’m super excited about, the chickpea stew thanks so much for sharing. You’re awesome Sarah !!! ❤❤
Hi! Thanks for the recipes, perfect timing since autumn started! A quick tip about thyme - If you buy fresh and don't use all of it, just tie all the branches together and hang them upside down somewhere dry and dark - like a pantry or even a lightless hallway - you'll have dry sage in a week or so and can store it for later. Same goes for oregano, sage, rosemary, bay leaf
I'm from Brazil and we just had one of the warmest summers in history! We are now in the Fall and it's getting cold, and we are used to very hot weather, so you see a lot of people wearing heavy coats when temperature drops a bit hahaha. Anyway, these recipes are perfect for right now. And I loved your channel, glad youtube recommended your videos to me. Thanks a lot!
Thanks for these vegan soups. I eat meat but see the value of increasing my veggie intake and reducing the expense of animal proteins. I make soup in bulk amounts and freeze in canning jars. This way, I save money and avoid cooking every single day and still enjoy my own home cuisine. Thank you for the inspiration and variety.
I have made the NYT soup, but modified. I use half coconut milk and half vegetable broth. I also found I like it better with a turmeric based curry powder rather than straight turmeric. It is awesome with added sweet potato or roasted cauliflower.
This video was right on time. We recently experienced a temperature drop. I'm definitely going to try all of these. I'm especially looking forward to the Korean and Greek orzo soups.
You and Eric are my favorite vegan couple that I follow...and I follow quite a few! I also love your videos because you have the same quirks as me. I always keep my rice/ pasta separate from my soups to avoid losing all of my broth! Thank you for the great videos. ❤

I’m sick these days and I consider soup to be a sick person’s meal 🥣 (cuz those were the only times I’ve been served soup) so I’m definitely gonna utilise these recipes and the first one about adding pasta and parmesan is so smart I’ll try that too!
thank you for saying “the early days of the pandemic”! how we speak about the ongoing pandemic is so important! Thank you for acknowledging it’s still going one!
Spiced Chickpea Stew w/ Coconut & Turmeric and Avgolemono Soup both look and sound awesome! Do you ever use the water from chickpeas as an egg sub?? It works like magic. I am not vegan but my niece is allergic to eggs so I use it for her sometimes. Again, I am not vegan but these soups look so good! thanks for the ideas.
When I was in high school I went from 403 lbs to 185lbs. I went vegetarian. I still ate some cheese as it’s my fave food. And for the most part I’ve remained vegetarian and Soups and stews are like the best thing ever. These all looked divine.
I liked the look of the Korean soup because it reminded me of my Pakistani mums chicken "salan" or brothy curry...but the tomatoe soup is the one I want to try...simple like me!
I’m sorry but I can’t choose a favourite. They all look absolutely delicious and I’m with you, I *love* kale and I swear I’ll never tire of eating it. I am genuinely loving your videos. They’re informative, relaxing, inspiring and you and your fella are beautiful people and I feel privileged to spend time with you both. Thank you for another great video. 🙏🏻 💗 🍲
A super easy soup my grandma showed me how to make is a giant can of garbanzo beans/chickpeas (juice included), a few cups of water, some carrots, potatoes and onion and some sausage or you could probably omit or use a vegan alternative, just season w your preferred spices- I usually use salt, pepper, garlic powder and sometimes ms dash. It’s so easy and so good:)
I love to make soup year round. I'm going towards a whole food made from scratch way of eating mainly because I'm diabetic and allergic to corn and cinnamon wich causes me to be mostly gluten and dairy free also. I'll definitely be making some of these soups
Absolutely fab recipes! Love it! 💜 For the chickpea stew, turmeric issue, you could use curry powder instead and that will balance out the bitterness 😉👍
I'm with ya on the kale! I love lacinato kale! I make kale salads, chop it up in my scrambled eggs, and also add it to soups. I like purple kale too but that's hard to find. Looking forward to making the spiced chickpea stew.. Stews are the best in the winter!
Arrrg I cant wait to try out these recipes! They look so good! My partner and I have been plant based since Jan this year. We did some research for health reasons and thought this is the best way to go for a better health and lifestyle. It took us a while to transition but so far, we have enjoyed our experience. It was a bit rocky at the start but honeslty, i said this was going to be a 1 year challenge but im good to go plant based for good lol Anyway I cant wait to explore more recipes and tweak it to our liking :) Thanks for sharing :) Cant wait to check out more videos from you guys :) Stay well x
I love grocery outlet!! I also go there weekly and eat the vegan cheeses they have. I live in Northern California :) would love to see more videos on baking since you mentioned you’re into baking bread! ❤
I'm not vegan but I'm trying to add more plant based meals to my diet. So far I've tried the tomato soup (with some white beans and some soaked cashews) and the chickpea coconut stew from this video, and I love them both so much! They are both going into my regular meal rotation and I can't wait to try the other recipes as well. Thank you so much for these videos!
I am very excited to try these soups! Thank you for sharing your recipe with the world and for being humble. 😊 P.S. I really appreciate that you two are so thoughtful and supportive of each other, while being honest and open with constructive feedback. I’m the same way with little things like not cutting my significant other’s sandwich how they like (luckily we like our sandwiches cut the same way). I wish that more couples would were like that with each other!
I can't get down with vegan chz so I ate my tom. Soup with rice cakes. Also used canned toms and sundried tomatoes and the bean addition is genius! Thanks for the inspo!

I’m sick these days and I consider soup to be a sick person’s meal 🥣 (cuz those were the only times I’ve been served soup) so I’m definitely gonna utilise these recipes and the first one about adding pasta and parmesan is so smart I’ll try that too!
That bread looks perfect to me!! Cant imagine how you could improve it! Everything looks so yummy…
I loved this video!
Usually I always cook like 4 different soups and that's it. Now I'm so motivated to try out some new ones!
I’m not a vegan but all of these dishes look amazing and delicious. Homemade tomato soup with grilled cheese is probably my dream cold weather meal.
Becoming vegan is the best thing ... Very very inspiring
This tomato soup is INCREDIBLE ❤ I made it tonight and wow I can’t believe how amazing it is thank you ❤
I'm so glad this came across my feed ,as I just love soup ❤ I eat soup everyday even for breakfast so this is awesome..thank you!!😊
this video is so well timed for those of us in the Southern Hemisphere too as we are going into winter very soon
thank you for saying “the early days of the pandemic”! how we speak about the ongoing pandemic is so important! Thank you for acknowledging it’s still going one!
Before you get all giddy, no one is acknowledging that it’s still going on.
She’s means early days of a certain period of time. That period of time has come to an end in the minds of most people.
Here where I live is autumn and these recipes are perfect! I'm definitely gonna try the first two before this month ends :) Thank you ❤
Its the beginning of autumn here so this video is perfect for the cooler weather! Yummmm Vegan for life 💖🥑
Spiced Chickpea Stew w/ Coconut & Turmeric and Avgolemono Soup both look and sound awesome! Do you ever use the water from chickpeas as an egg sub?? It works like magic. I am not vegan but my niece is allergic to eggs so I use it for her sometimes. Again, I am not vegan but these soups look so good! thanks for the ideas.
perfect timng here in the southern hemisphere, where we are heading into winter!
I've literally fell in love with all of them.
I love all these recipes. I am making the tomato soup for meal prep next week and the last one today. So inspirational and timely (weather sucks).
I've been watching you for years! I love your energy. Your hard work shows through your videos! ♡
When I was in high school I went from 403 lbs to 185lbs. I went vegetarian. I still ate some cheese as it’s my fave food. And for the most part I’ve remained vegetarian and Soups and stews are like the best thing ever. These all looked divine.
YUM! I wasn't hungry until I watched this.. I'm off into the kitchen.. thanks! I love LOVE soups and stews all year!
Wow-I seriously want to try all 5! Watched every second of the video and am saving it 💚
A super easy soup my grandma showed me how to make is a giant can of garbanzo beans/chickpeas (juice included), a few cups of water, some carrots, potatoes and onion and some sausage or you could probably omit or use a vegan alternative, just season w your preferred spices- I usually use salt, pepper, garlic powder and sometimes ms dash. It’s so easy and so good:)
I love to make soup year round. I'm going towards a whole food made from scratch way of eating mainly because I'm diabetic and allergic to corn and cinnamon wich causes me to be mostly gluten and dairy free also. I'll definitely be making some of these soups
Just what I was looking for, thank you ❤
Every one of the soups looks SO good 👍! I could eat soup every day. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely fab recipes! Love it! 💜
For the chickpea stew, turmeric issue, you could use curry powder instead and that will balance out the bitterness 😉👍
All of the soup/stews looked amazing. The tomato and veggie ate my favorite . My tummy can’t handle chickpeas. Thanks for such great content. 😊
I'm not vegan but your channel gives me many ideas for a healthy plant based meals. ☺👌
Great recipes. I love your channel. And I adore how supportive and kind Eric is. You're lucky to have a nice man like that. Good for you!
Where I live, it already very warm but for some reason I’ve just now started craving winter soups 😂 thank you for the recipes!
This opens up my eyes on vegan food !
P.S.
Thanks for the inspo!
drizzle generously, season liberally, my kinda girl 😅 also, what a sweet supportive couple, love to see it

Adding kale to something like a veggie & white bean soup is one of my favorite things! Big kale in soups supporter here!
:o hi, I'm american with a greek family and going vegan for the new year! Dairy and meat gives me painful cystic acne ): I love avgolemono soup though and I was excited to see a recipe for it on here! I'll have to give this a try. ❤
