he actually did very recently. I think it was a show in Chicago either last yr or the yr before. He dressed up but didnt wear the make up, he wore sunglasses
He was such a respectful guy and a true fan to the bone of his idols. I wouldn't have been surprised if they had worn the make up. Man what an evening.
I was there!!! Was not billed under any of their names was something silly. Not a huge crowd and they wanted it small and fun so they could have a good time with everyone there. It Was amazing!!!!
MIND BLOWN!!!! This is one of those ultimate metal braingasm moments that is just too amazing to articulate. I hope those ppl in the audience realize how lucky they were. MORE METAL THAN YOUR BODY HAS ROOM FOR
Man, if only they had the recording equipment people have in their phones today. The amount of awesome stuff like that that happened that in concerts that has been lost to the ages....
That is an original by Peter Green´s Fleetwood Mac ( yes , they once were a very decent band and this song probably invented Metal music - original is darker , much more ominous ... but you already must know that by now , don´t you ? 😂 😂 \m/) .
They had been announcing a new years party at savvy's featuring the cowboys from hell with a special guest on z rock . We all knew enough about what was going to happen that I brought my camcorder along to the party. And filmed this footage. I've never seen most of these comments and I'm blown away by the love these videos have received. Not surprised just never stopped to read the comments before. Actually I did back when these only had maybe a hundred views or some shit. But I just looked them up to post on a couple of my group pages and saw the amount of views and started reading comments.
Understandable, I see this a lot. First off, King Diamond is more theatrical sounding with his singing voice. He is more akin to a Broadway style musical singer or opera. So to the "normal" metal head who isn't used to this type of theatrical singing it is either going to sound "weird" or "out of place". A couple of other things to note, which may be confusing to someone who doesn't have formal vocal training, King Diamond uses the falsetto technique to reach his high notes unlike Rob Halford who sings his high notes in full voice. When using falsetto, the larynx is relaxed while the vocal chords tighten the higher in pitch you go. Eventually the vocal chords reach a point where you are singing beyond your actual vocal range and the vocal folds instead of being closed, actually are loose and let's air spill out giving the high note an "airy" sound. That is falsetto, think like the BeeGees or many R&b style singers. Another note to make is that the tonal quality is going to be somewhat different. To reinforce a falsetto note to make it sound powerful is to sing in your head which ends up with a more nasal quality to it. King Diamond and Rob Hanford are apples and oranges. Both amazing singers on a technical level who use different techniques to get to the high range. Also one more thing, King Diamond sings in his very high falsetto/counter tenor range for the majority of the songs where as Rob Hanford typically doesn't. King Diamond songs are in Painkiller range CONSTANTLY. If Rob Halford sang in that range constantly he probably would get some mixed reviews as well but since he only sings a few songs in his highest range he typically gets a pass. King Diamond on the other hand is an acquired taste for someone who loves theatrics, someone who loves high, falsetto singing and someone who can deal with it on an almost constant basis and not just here and there. King Diamond is incredible in the vocal dept and actually has more range than Halford
I love that King did this without makeup, too. I've never seen him perform that way.
he actually did very recently. I think it was a show in Chicago either last yr or the yr before. He dressed up but didnt wear the make up, he wore sunglasses
The one at the Clubhouse is kick-ass. Look up Cactus Jaw.
Seems like when another plays with pantera they do a different style. Halford did the same thing out of his normal style

Rock n Roll overdoze
Inception!!!
I can't understand how this ever came about. My head just exploded.
Sarah-Jayne Green King has lived in Texas for years.
Againan Again
This was THE YEAR that he moved here!
Nobody was expecting him to walk on stage.
This looks to me like the beginning of what Pantera will become very soon after... This is a gem!!

Who would think this started out as a Fleetwood Mac song?
EPIC
A voice from God, and stage banter from Ozzy Osbourne. I can't complain. :)
@hgstsm hey is that him at 2:32 LOL
The only thing that can hit a note higher than King Diamond is Dime's squeal.
And Halford
Tim Ripper Owens sounds like Halford and Kings voices had a baby
This is fucking beyond unreal... Pantera & King Diamond playin Judas Priest. Fucking hell.
This song was about the music industry.
To the uploader: what's the story behind this show?
The story was always the same with pantera, gravitational pull!
It was the year Anselmo moved back to Louisiana.
Pantera still wanted to have a New Year’s Party!

@LolitaDeathMoon The good Fleetwood Mac, mind you. Back when Peter Green was with them.
Where was Phil....lol
It's weird I love halford as a singer but have a hard time getting into king diamonds shit

They played the version that Judas Priest
The drums have a very dry dull sound to them.
I love Mercyful Fate, but King Diamond sounds terrible singing Halford.
HinjuRock - But how does King sound singing Fleetwood Mac?
Love the way he looks, great voice. His voice just doesnt do it for me.. :/
Go Dimebag on that solo doe!
kick ass!
RickyBuck Smith69 Kick acid works too!
