TH-cam is obviously doing well on spying on me to be serving up your intro vid to me whilst I am contemplating just how I can move over to France before the UK collapses in on itself!
You and 65 million others I suspect. I used to live there and like a fool I moved back. The last two months have made me realise what a huge mistake that was.
@@VisorView Aye :nods: In all my years I have never been afraid to live in my own country. In just a few weeks of the new Labour government making clear they *aim* to replace us, my feeling that Britain was a safe and stable place to live, despite its economic problems, has been shattered.
Congratulations on your one year anniversary in France. (Second time watching this video.) You have accomplished so much. More great things ahead. Thank you for taking us along on your journey!
Looking at this video my wife and I were remembering the feelings of leaving Portsmouth for the last time. I was so caught up with thoughts I forgot to show my passport at UK border control. I was sternly asked where I was going. I replied I’ve retired from the Royal Marines after 22 years and moving to my llama farm France. The guy beamed and wish me all the best for the future. 🙏🦙
have been following you for a while now but just came across your vlog showing the land for the first time Wow what a lot of work You have already done
Hey.Your latest video came into my suggested videos then to this one. Love the sound of cheering blackbird and others on your arrival at your house in France. The peace of birdsong wow. Love it. I love France and try to go visit as it calms me, their gentle way of life. The cheese and wine aint bad either 😊Well done. GOD BLESS

I started watching you recently, not sure which video but you were caring for a horse. This one popped up on my feed today. Wow, that's a mess, but you can see the potential. I have some catching up to do.
I feel so lucky to have found you from day one. I didn't comment then but I did give you a thumbs up. Glad I had the good sense to do so. I'm going to look through all ÿour videos hoping I can find some I missed viewing due to real life living.
20th March! My birthday 😊 first of all Mark congratulations your doing what we only think about. Looking forward to watching your videos, you seem like a honest and down to earth chap. I have so many questions, but not for here lol. Having said that how and where did you find your lovely cottage for that amazing price? Thank you. Marcus
Saw your comment on "Portugal From Scratch's" video so I thought I'd hop over and see what you are doing. I lived in England decades ago and would love to have a farm there. However, I think that being on the continent provides a great advantage as you can get to so many places easily. Honestly, your land looks much more fertile so you should have a great time getting your homestead going. Good luck and I will follow along! Cheers.
please please if you have time to make vids on if someone outside from EU want to relocate to the countryside. Please thank you very much. I just found your channel in the recommendations. Thank you once again. Hats off starting it alone. I am think of the same.
I just discovered your channel because of your comment on another channel by Chani in Japan. I look forward to learning from your experiences in France. One day I'd like to possibly do the same. All the best!
@@patcardiff2563. Ireland is the same (both North & South) I can’t wait to move to France next year. I was in Lot et Garonne twice last year and loved it.
Just found your channel and looking forward to following your adventures. We moved to France in July 2021 after 7 years in Ireland. Both originally from Sussex.
Wow what progress you have made...you know i can't remember watching it but must have...i ticked the "like". Massive massive difference. You know you sound soo much more settled in yourself. 👍👍👍👍
Hey ! Justed happen to come across your channel, loving the content and enjoying following your adventure ! The fun thing is my parents also moved to France quite a while ago, they settled in the same part you did. I do love those landscapes! Keep up the vids !
Good luck with your move. It would have been nice if you’d introduced yourself - where in England you left, where in France you’re moving to, what your plans are etc. maybe you do that in later videos.
Hi, thanks for taking the time to comment. I have nearly 400 videos explaining almost everything and showing what I have been up to. Lots more to come .
very interesting video. I moved end to end of the us 12 years ago, lots of regrets but also one chance only for me to get a place truly my own, 2 kids grown up, 2 kids growing up, knowing they would soon all four be out in their young adult lives with little interest in a parent, and thinking how would I find for myself some empty nest identity... All this time later still haven't really resolved my own identity, but have tried some things, gotten tired of some things, now thinking I'd like to be closer back toward those adult kids ... but prices are far higher and I've gotten quite financially stranded far away alone. Oh well. Had to try. Life is just rough and we feel drawn to do certain things knowing we won't find a better life but so curious... One little minute at a time I now think, just tryna be here now, be as ok as you can be, kuz that's all you ever get.
I am just amazed by the whole Ferry Thing - living in the US...Don't have them. What is a typical ticket cost from the UK to France? Excited to see your journey!
hi new subscriber, would love to do this but don't have the cash, I've made a start and bought a cottage in Hungary which is nearly completely renovated so hoping to be ready in a couple of years to make the move......lucky no one nicked your ladder
I don't know if you have covered this anywhere, Mark, but how did you navigate the thorny visa/residency problem? So far the best route I have found is to go and do a Masters at a French university and then roll the dice and hope a get a job before the years grace period (after studies) expires.
My brother Karl had a buddy called David. He brought a collapsed farmhouse with land in France. He spent every holiday there rebuilding it my brother would sometimes help him. No idea what happened but am sure he rebuilt it. You ain't David are you lol
Greetings! Just discovered your channel about your journey to a new life in France. On the fourth video now and I still don't know your name! What's your back story? Do you share it with subscribers in a later vlog? Why did you buy an abandoned cottage in France and leave the UK? Need the scoop...proper introduction. Please and thank you. 😁😁
Hi Edward, Welcome to my channel... Well this channel is not really about me, it's about the property. But I am sure over time all those regular watchers will get to put all the jigsaw pieces together. Please feel free to share your ideas.... Marc :-)
I am pondering that too :) You can get a Long Stay one for a year (I think) and then keep extending it as long as you have the income for it. It's that having the income part that is the real stumbling block.
I am from the future, just thought I'd tell you you're going to be attacked by your neighbours shetland pony in a years time. Get your tetanus booster now!
