A strong cement mix combined with a few short rebo bars embedded over the joint or pinned in through the outside wall to end up inserted in the inside wall might have given you a stronger repair job and possibly stop the wall from moving any further . But you're there looking at the job and what you're doing could be the best job locally.

That's very interesting about the roses, I'm not much of a gardening guy but I was told by a garden centre that you can't take slips off rose bushes and grow them as they need to be grafted on to root stock to survive ............... once again I'm learning from you .

Hi Marc , would you consider coppicing the Red Robin trees and even try come coppicing on your boundary hedge along the road . It would thicken it up and maybe make it look more attractive and stock proof ........ just do a little at a time, it's quite hard work . Just an idea .

Hi Marc. You seem to be very up and down recently. One day you're saying how wonderful life is then the next video it's all doom and gloom. This is not a criticism because I am the same and even today I stopped, looked up at the "crystal blue sky" and reminded myself how lucky I am to be here. I think many people think TH-cam could be a means to an end but you can't depend on it and, like you say, your time may be better invested elsewhere. Back in the day I created an internet café on the canal du midi and after a while I looked at how much time we had to be there and the paltry hourly income and closed it down to better use the space for our chambre d'hôtes. I think your idea of a break is a good one to reflect on mindfulness and what the alternatives are. Bonne réflexion 🙏

you might consider growing potatoes in an area with partial shade. It's okay to dig up your own potatoes, brush them in oil and sprinkle herbs and salt on them. skewer them and grill them. Or smoke them in a smoker. Yum.

Then you not only have a greenhouse, but also a living room and a season extender. I have three in aluminum. I painted the two myself, and they are furnished with a table and good chairs and a lot of beautiful jars and accessories in matching colours.

Hi Marc, Long time viewer, first time commenter. i've been watching your channel since your 1st year in France, but was always watching on a different youtube a/c. So you won't recognize my name. Anyway, I've always thought that the area along the stone wall on the barn beside your gate would be a good place for a polytunnel. Just thinking about the heat from the wall and also the potential shelter from the wind during stormy weather. Cheers!

Your channel has really been good for thought for me over the time I have watched. I did make a Ko-fi donation. After a difficult day I often think about how I could just live a simpler life in France like yours. I find with the arrival of Spring and better weather my mood improves and my perspective does change. I think personally having purpose is the healthiest default state of people and if we do have a too simple life without growth or direction it can lead to malaise. If you do decide to stop posting, please let us know from time to time how you are. I wish you the best!

Can you think about more interesting content, your bills, maybe going solar electric, getting a rotavator and planting veg/spuds a polytunnel, a beehive , cloches etc you couod your use your land to its full potential and save money on veg and fruit maybe , you could build a little potting shed so you can start off your veg early in the winter,rain water harvesting system possibly, some projects dont cost alot but can benefit you greatly, maybe get a pitchin wedge and hit a few golf balls down the garden or build a little puttin green , viewers love to see new content or something different ,anyhow keep up the good work, rome was nt built in a day ! 🙂

The Charente is not the easiest part to live and socialize. Friends of mine live there. Cheap to buy, lot of land, but it can be lonely. Try to visit markets, drink a coffee. For my friends it was very difficult to find somebody to help with the garden. It is an English guy and now he has a lot of work and everybody is happy. When you stay in your own bubble and only share TH-cam, it will be hard and after a while you are gonna feel it. I enjoy your video,s and hope you stay. Show us also some villages or markets in your environment. Stay calm, winter was long and soon you will see things more bright. You really have a wonderful place!

We don't eat strawberries but we like the way they look and the birds like them so I just planted some in my nursery.

Marc, just watching you taking the care to pot up your Penstemon and Verbena cuttings is nice to watch 🌱🌻 with Teddy, soaking up some Charente Winter sunshine 🌞🐱 (whilst watching your every move from his spot!). The February blues…

Marc, we think the approach of taking one day at a time is the best. Yesterday is gone; lessons learned hopefully, and tomorrow is not here yet. We agree with planning a few months ahead as is practical. The present we receive each morning is the gift, the present 💐🎁. That is really all we have. You are such a good guy; we love you. If we had a son, we'd want him to be like you❤ If we had lots of resources, we'd be supporting you more❤ Teddy is so much fun to watch grow in your home with you. Don't be long...but, take a thoughtful stroll, knowing that we are all thinking about you with great kindness and heartfelt thoughts and prayers 🙏🏻❤

I wonder if it is the tannins in the tea - I wonder if herbal tea would be better for you? It is interesting that cooked potatoes are bothersome but not potato chips (crisps they are called in the UK?) - that is a puzzle.

Sounds like winter blues , enjoy your break. It will all feel and look better when the sun shines again. When we lived in France I had days sometimes weeks where it all felt too much and frankly a bit lonely. But I loved the warm spring, hot summer days and sunny autumns. Take care. See you soon.

I miss being able to see that we are actually in France and get a feel for the surroundings. It can be almost anywhere.

Do what you need to reenergize yourself. Enjoy your little friend Teddy. Get out for a ride. Go to a beautiful church or art gallery. Find a quiet place to read. Anything. Just recharge your batteries.

Always wishing the best for you. There are times when we just need a break. Small or large, we gain a fresh view, perspective. All about lightening the load. For me, the load is self-imposed "home projects". I don't usually go out for coffee because I can make it at home. I made an exception today and that made it special. I also saw a darling Dachshund wearing a camo raincoat. That "vision" cheered me no end. Weather-permitting, try a local adventure but do get out of the "Palace" once in a while. It will not negatively impact your "works-in-progress". I love seeing you perfect your lawn. I know that all videos are time-consuming. If content production is wearying at this time, I hope that you can share an occasional episode of "The Great Lawn of the Charente". I think you will find that so many subscribers are "invested" in it. All that perfection is reassuring (even when I didn't know I needed that). A meditative experience of sorts.

Please don't lose hope your crossing a bad time but will pass . You need to recharge your batteries then grab life again ❤
