I have felt like a stranger in a strange land in Australia since my birth over 70 years ago. I was all ready to move to Ireland, my spiritual home, when my daughter got cancer. Goodbye dream. Hello trauma. She is still fighting three years on, but I am now sick purely from the stress. I can't even garden...my passion...anymore. I dont know what is going to happen. I have anticapatory grief about my daughter. On top of genuine grief I wont make my dream come true, on top of old grief.I cant find happy anymore. I hang onto sayings like 'this too shall pass' and 'everything happens for a reason' but mostly, I just hang in. Its good to see someone making their dream come true.
    From K, country Australia. 🍂

Here's a heartfelt positive comment, hopefully to raise morale! I can't, for the life of me, find anything negative in the journey to seek out new starts and joy that are harmless to anyone. It's an inspiration, let's enjoy and be thankful for your sharing. :)

Having lived in S/w France for 8 yrs, coming back to the UK to nurse my mother before her passing was a culture shock. How things and people and attitudes have changed. A lot of angry people in such a lovely country, now about to get much worse. I am as I write this starting to prepare my return to France. When a Frenchman says France for the French he means it!!! Why do the British no longer think this way?.

Hello Marc what a beautiful day you are having in your part of France. I agree when you say you just want to get outside I'm the same longing for the weather to change to enable me to go outside without freezing and being wrapped up like a mummy. Sometimes it's revitalising to have a lazy day and do nothing but relax. A million quid wouldn't last very long in UK the way everything is going up the rents are awful the food is shocking prices and the taxes are a nightmare not forgetting the gas & electric. Where you are is lovely and you are better out of it all. Mortgage free and self sufficient with your garden and growing food and getting the odd job here and there to keep you going is worth walking along the tightrope. Any garden materials would be good sponsor to get. Thanks Marc for posting a cheery vlog showing your lovely grounds.

Tbh Marc, I would consider you very industrious mate. Especially on your own. You're inspiring me to move to France in due course. It's long been a dream of mine (40 years!). I'm also going solo. People who comment negatively have their own problems, which have nothing to do with you!!! You're an example to us all. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, eh? Keep on doing these videos, buddy. I really appreciate them. 🙏

Hi Marc, looks like you have another Blackpool admirer, although we are now leading a different life here in the mountains of Spain. Love your rambles, love you doing nothing. We have days like today, nothing done, just enjoying our piece of paradise. Why not put a bench or chair in your nature reserve ? Its a stunning, relaxing area. We have parts of our land where we just sit and take it all in. Lots of little seating areas hidden from the world. Just peace, happiness and nature. Keep doing what your doing mark, you make our day. Love ❤

Your thoughts on how Britain is circling the drain are exactly true. I was on my way out the door (to Finland) when Brexit hit and broke my plans. I have spent the intervening years gathering resources as best I can with the aim of making it out before things utterly break down here.
My gaze has settled on France (after a dalliance with Portugal) as the greener land and more beautiful language have swayed me.
And that’s how I found your great channel where I can see someone making a go of it without a million quid in the bank.

Please, do not be discouraged by comments. You are on a grand adventure that many dare not, or are not in a position to take. Be brave in your choices. .think them through as it suits you. You are the only one taking a chance. I am one of the ones in 🇨🇦 trying to survive consequences of having a tyrant as a PM! The carbon taxes a quadruple now what was implemented last year and I am a senior scraping by on a fixed pension. It is very very scary. Your beautiful land and your story about renovating your home are a bright-spot in my day. Please take care of your spirit as well as your body for what is life without some joy for your soul?

governments are only service corporations, they only govern by the consent of the governed. They work under legal which only applies to that which is incorporated. Law applies to everyone including that evil pm that thinks he can tell everyone what to do, he actually can’t the law comes from God that applies to everyone. We will all answer for what we have done. The wicked will perish. Judgment is coming to the wicked. We are all suppose to love one another. We have a bunch of clowns running riot here in the uk too. Ask yourself are you their property? Don’t comply don’t consent don’t contract with them. Ask who is the person who says you are property and have to pay anything, especially when global warming is a lie and fraud bought about especially so they can charge the people.

Hi Marc, refreshing honesty from you yet again. I would love to do exactly what you are doing and my husband and i were going to sell up and move to France unfortunately my husband had a stroke at the start of the pandemic and did not recieve the help he needed initially due to lockdown so he cant do what he thought he'd be able to do 3 years down the road. We are stuck in the Uk. I love our dear land but as you say it is broken as our kindness is taken advantage of and it pains me to bear witness to it on a daily basis. I am now in my 70th year and have learnt to say to myself " do i need this negative person in my life" answer is no and you are doing the right by blocking them. Keep on chatting.

I think for those who are comfortably well off, the UK is still a great place to live, but for the poorer, life has become very difficult. We are sold the idea that we need all sorts of mod cons to live, but we can live frugally and still be content. I think you have alot to be proud of, a modest home, a gorgeous property, and generally good health. Why would you want to change that in any way? I hope your predictions of chaos dont eventuate....

Marc, you are the right man to promote lawn mowers. You are right about certain products that are advertised here on YT and most channel operators take any crap. I'm particularly thinking about this green powder, which is supposedly the god of vitamin concentrations. But if you investigate, the product is extremely harmful. Advertising is everything and costs more than producing some products

I've only just found your channel this morning and would like to say that I really enjoy your videos...natural, down to earth and real. My wife and I made a similar transition in 2008 but to Hungary and got dragged into teaching, rather than doing what we really enjoy. Now we've taken early retirement and are trying to make the most of what we have, which is 3 small, (very) rural cottages/cabins. My wife loves to paint and I love being outdoors. Keep up the good work.

One reason why I prefer France is that it does at least want to retain its civilization and culture, and even though some public officials can be difficult they take a certain amount of pride in their work. Local UK officials don't give a toss about anything and one has the sense that nothing works. I'm not disheartened because things always get worse before they get better but it is a bit crap at the moment. Currently saving for a place in France.

nice to know someone else who gave up TV. I gave it up in 2000. Wanted to prove to my daughter that you can enjoy life without turning on a TV. Maybe people who like to spend time in the garden are a little alike. I did get a tv screen to watch You Tube. i actually spend a lot of You Tube Listening time with sounds of nature playing in my house so I can pretend I don't live next to a busy 4 lane street in the US. I also thought it was rather sad that people build their day around watching certain shows.
if I died tomorrow, would I be sad that I missed a TV show? Or would I be glad that I took the time to be outside and perhaps took time from my day to talk to a real person passing by or stopped to call someone up to see how they are?

We/me often forget that it is the winter season and nature is resting. But we/me want to keep going at the same rate when the tide is against us. Taking a few days off to recoup is natural in any season but especially in winter. I am retired to an idyllic property part of which is similar to your nature reserve. Yet I rarely take the time to enjoy it and feel a little guilty when I do as well as wonder why I do not enjoy it more often. Fortunately, I have walls of windows and so I do enjoy so much, but not the same as being in it. Like you I would not move back to a big city. I grew up in Manhattan which was a wonderful experience yet I would not return to a million(s) dollar rent free penthouse. The city never fed my soul like the country does.
As for housing, of course NYC is notorious expensive but so is the beach community that I live in...and no thanks to those at the top. Affordable housing is always on the agenda. Yours is not a political channel so I will leave it at that! I was at an art class this morning and someone mentioned that we have not see sunshine in at least 10 days. It took days for the snow on my solar panels to melt. With that being said, I know that you cannot have solar panels on your roof, but is it possible to have standing panels on your property? Of course there is an initial cost, but currently, I do not pay for electricity and get money back every month. Lots of folks in the US have "splits" for heat and AC and they are electric. Since you want to work, it is unfortunate that currently it is difficult for you make money. Maybe you can stay in a B&B in your old neighborhood for a few weeks and make some money w your old customers.
PS: My lawn is very small and so I have one of those push mowers! ...of course not for you.

I’m with you re the UK, I miss the heritage and scenery involving round trees, it’s all very angular here in NZ unless you head to a Botanical garden, 255 years is not long enough to have created something truly spectacular sadly, however, I also would not ever live there again, almost 68 million people crammed on to an Island compared to 5 mill on a smaller percentage of useable land on a larger land space, its a nope from me.
I feel the land of my birth is incredibly damaged these days with everyone terrified of saying the wrong thing in case they end up in court, I like to go home, kiss and hug family and friends and get back out again, it is so sad as the UK was an amazing place to grow up, I had to stop reading the British papers as it was filled with doom and gloom. NZ doesn’t have everything right by any means, but you can walk around barefoot and smell the roses instead of rubbish, chewing gum, spit and old fags.

ROFL your opinion of yourself on a big screen TV. You've a lovely face Mark. The solution is to not create the problem - but there isn't any money in not doing the "thing". Humans need social interaction with real people for mental well being or you start talking to coconuts (movie reference). The garden is looking really good and it's nice to see the animals in the neighbours fields while the foliage is thin. France is a beautiful country and if you are happy there, then yes, you are Rich! Money doesn't buy happiness.
Stop skipping video's please, I've lost track of what day it is (joke).

I do love listening to you rant and I admire what you want to do. Just wondered , if you don’t mind me asking, but roughly how much does it cost you a month to live like you do 🤗

Hi Marc. You had me a little concerned when you didn’t post for a few days. Then I realized you have every right to post or not to post! I know there were some fools who thought they have the right to Tell you what to do, sometimes in a nasty tone too. Delete those. Others, like me, were giving you our opinion because you Asked for it, right? ‘Tell me what you think’ right? If I overspoke I do apologize. I actually thought we were all joining up with you, teasing around with you. Again please forgive me if I was wrong. ❤❤❤

You're right, If I ask for your opinion then I expect your opinion. Like I said in this video. It's not the opinion, it's the negative energy. Perhaps it's too difficult to explain. 🙂

Hi Marc, You didn't respond to my last comment a while ago, saying I thought you were awake and what I believe is going on, or at least some of what is going on in the world! and hope that didn't result in you blocking me? (I've been binge watching your vids, and now realise your very awake, to a lot of what's going on, but your missing the boat re: health, and how they are controlling every thing we watch, hear, eat, wear, sleep on, and absorb from the skies, basically, if they say its good, do the opposite, because its all inverted, and we will fare better!
You asked why people watch you? Dave was a hook and building/renovating is something I love to watch, also its because your real, you have integrity, your genuine, intelligent and so bloody funny! But mainly its to hear what you have to say about what is going on in the world, I've also tried to be an activist (to no avail!) but we must keep trying, right!
Its all in lock-step around the whole world, so no one escapes what is coming, but at least it will be a bit delayed in certain parts of the world. Your right to get prepared, I'm unfortunately not in a position to do any escaping and just trying to prepare in my own small way for the inevitable.
I think your clever how your getting the message out there, very subtle, which is probably the best way and doesn't get you removed. Your also very courageous and I admire what your doing. sending love and good vibes for your success. xx

Have the farmers not blocked the roads in your area yet?
I agree, the UK has gone to sh*t ... too many imported issues being fought on British streets and our culture has been trashed in the name of diversity and inclusion BS.

I lose hours just pottering outside in the garden not achieving much but just enjoying the space and freedom of spirit it gives. So do enjoy your beautiful space and free your mind to do nothing when it suits you, just be.
