Better city, better lifestyle, better opportunities will have a cost. The quality of life or trajectory of a career doesn't depend on how much money you save by the end of the month.

You kids won't understand anything until you yourself have experienced all this...
Talking about trajectory of career....Do you even know how difficult is the competition in Silicon Valley region????
Wow.....the money you save by the end of month if doesn't matter????
What's the use of all other stuffs????
Who will help you when you will be in a financial urgency????
      Also
      Think of all these factors....
The fine line of yours is true till some extent......well some places in USA whose cost of living are excessive high is also because those cities of US have more millionaires than our whole India.......
There a normal house even costs nearly a million dollars........
Talking about better lifestyle.....if you settle in top tier cities if India like New Delhi, Mumbai ,Bangalore
Believe me..these cities are at par even with many big cities in USA..like Texas,Ohio, Florida etc.....

Another major thing is that the 1-2 cr CTC that are projected in the media so obsessively, usually contains stock component for 4yrs which the media never mentions. So u will be getting only 25% of that per year. Along with that there will be this one time joining and relocation bonus. Also, they project the highest percentage for annual bonus which no one gets. So, in short those media reports highly inflate the salary and people will not be making anywhere near the salary per annum as mentioned.

    • @esware5863
      @esware5863 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes, I too thought this issue. Stocks allocated and to be credited in furture (4 years) will also be included in the package. Finally, how much money credited in bank account is important and the same will be less than what they project.

Hello Sir, Thank you for this information. But I would like to highlight one problem. I earn 30 LPA in India and I am not able to buy a house because I have no saving. My family is dependent on me so there are no savings.
If I go to the US I can save 30 Lakhs per year and in few years I can buy house in India. This is the most important benefit of being in US.
I am working for past 10 years in India and I don't have the capacity to by house. As all my expenses are getting used up and I am able to save about only 2 Lakhs per year which is not enough for down payment of house loan.
Also I got married recently so 14 Lakhs i.e. my life's savings got used up in that. So now I am back to zero savings.
This is the problem if you stay in India and you don't have any ancestral wealth. So urge all, if you get chance to work in USA please take it up. But I also advice don't settle there work for few years and come back. US culture is very bad.

I understand what he is saving but the factors which he has taken into account are at their maximum expense, for instance, rent can be lowered by sharing your apartment with 3-4 people. Food expense can be lowered by making own food, don't go sight seeing to reduce the expense, and also, you can get similar job in non-california tech companies, hence state tax is also lowered or negligible in case of Arizona and Texas. this way you save a lot too.

Good information. I am father of two kids working in East and West in USA. You are truely assuming spendings vs savings on very conservative basis. But it never happens. In india taxation is very high compared to standard of living. One can't breath properly. Social atmosphere is also bad. Job opportunities have shrinked to a great extent. Maybe few IITns get jobs but overall job situation is pathetic in India. Compared to this , the young talents are attracted to US and Canada due to mental peace, dignity and paystuff.

Excellently put about the savings. But one component for which most people want to move to US is 'quality of life' which i think is unparallel compared to India. Plus work timings (9-5) are fixed in US, unlike India where most companies make employees work for 10-12 hours atleast, including Saturdays. Would love to here your thoughts on these 2 aspects.

    • @alokagarwal8179

By quality of life, i mean better roads, education, infrastructure, healthcare(not so good still better than India i think), better police, law execution, ambulance..i can go on but I think I clarified the point. Better roads might seem silly point to some but just google how many deaths happen everyday in India just because of potholes and that too in cities like Bangalore and Mumbai

Not every student in India is from IIT. And how do you save 12 lacs in india?
If your long term goal is to settle in USA then what you said will make sense. But if you plan to go back to India after gaining experience and earning money say for instance after 10-12 years then this 30-36 lacs that you save in US yearly is huge, trust me.
