    Techno got rinsed by the report, but he managed to get out safely by admitting it immediately. Riolu set himself up for the biggest life destruction in gaming history.

      I don't know if rinsed is how I would describe it per se, but he came clean about all the cheating he hid in TMUF and has driven clean since, more like it just happened to come up while digging and he just admitted.

      techno also doesn't make a living from playing trackmania, selling merch and streaming. techno isn't even an active player anymore, he couldn't care less.

      @blackkimchi5111 3 ปีที่แล้ว +254

      @@Doofens Techno! obviously does care, he wouldn't have came forward about cheating much less help with the investigation if he didn't, you don't have to be a prominent content creator or active player to care about the game and community. To be completely frank Riolu could have overwhelmingly avoided this whole thing by just (aside from not cheating in the first place like a moron) being up front about what he did. Trying to make it seem like Wirtual was the enemy and he was being "targeted" killed basically any chance of being a content creator or online community member indefinitely. I like to think if he was honest here about what happened there would have been a lot of hurt feelings but people would move on and he likely could have continued making content/streaming although probably suffering significant loss in income.

    The worst thing about this are the tons of comments under riolus last video with thousands of upvotes saying stuff like "just apoligize and move on" signaling that his fans have essentially already set themselves up to forgive him if he just makes the least amount of effort.
    This is obviously ridiculous. This wasnt some oops he cheated once as a kid. he cheated continously for a decade well into his 20s. he continued to cheat when he had already made a name for himself with it and built up a successful career from it. hes a chronic cheater if Ive ever seen one and although he presents himself as a cool and likeable guy on stream (which is why people are already forgiving him) he showed his true colors when he was totally willing to destroy the reputation and credibility of a good friend that was just trying to help him get out of this mess in the most graceful way possible. He was totally willing to take a friend who did nothing wrong down with him for a slim chance to keep is reputation and make this go away. This is the true character of riolu not the niceguy he presents himselv to be and this is much more inline with someone who cheats for a decade in a highly competetive game just to get ahead. I am all for forgiveness and redemption but it should take a bit more than just some half assed apology that hes only making because he got caught. Especially in such a severe case like this. But lets see what happens.

      I don't play TM, but I *loved* watching Riolu learn the cup of the day every day and just about always come top 3, often win. He's an incredible player, and none of the other equally good players have a personality I can bear. I miss him already. I understand exactly what you're saying, but I'm one of those who said if he admits it and apologises I'd re-sub. There's one redeeming fact here - he's never been accused of cheating in live runs, and that's what I want to watch him do. I *don't care* about the world records - others do, I get that.

    20:18 - To quote a Conversation from the Movie "Cool Runnings":
    Irv: You wanna know why I cheated, right?
    Derice Bannock: Yes, I do.
    Irv: That's a fair question. It's quite simple, really. I had to win. You see, Derice, I'd made winning my whole life. And when you make winning your whole life, you have to keep on winning, no matter what. You understand that?
    Derice Bannock: No, I don't understand. You won two gold medals. You had it all.
    Irv: Derice, a gold medal is a wonderful thing. But if you're not enough without one, you'll never be enough with one.
    This might be an possible answer why people do cheat... But not necessary a sufficient one for everybody tbh.

      Well depends, not sure if it's like this for everyone, but in here, to get to public uni u basically compete against other applicants for the limited spots, score is based of high shool average + a global exam, some degrees is easy to get in because they rarelly fill up the spots, but other degrees, such as medicine, have a really tight competition for them, basically if there's 60 spots only top 60 applicant scores can enter, so by cheating and taking a spot you're essentially kicking someone who might have been studying really hard off the list, and not everyone can afford attending private universities

    Lance Armstrong was also invited to the Swiss labs that ended up processing his sample that would ONLY be the result of doping, just more of less detectable. Never rode clean his whole life. And while riolu could achieve clean records on live streams (weaker records to break, obviously), an athlete can never be physically clean after cheating, the ripple effect through time is infinite. Just, detection is super, SUPER flawed due tot he tolerances involved.

    • @KuuYami_
      @KuuYami_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Well, there was no way to verify if someone used cheat engine because you couldn't see the inputs. Then they found out input files are made with the replay file to validate if runs have correct physics. You can use cheat engine to modify physics, but the run wouldn't validate properly. If you slow the game down, the run validates and when played at 100% looks totally legit unless you can see the inputs.

    The school analogy is a poor one. Someone else getting an A grade doesn't affect your chances of getting one, so they can do whatever they want, it makes no difference to you. In a racing game there are winners and losers. If you lose because someone else cheated, obviously you're going to feel like the whole thing is a waste of time, hence the importance of identifying and exposing cheaters.
