Rock on Grap!
I freestyle to your beats almost every day while I’m riding around in my car running errands 😂 I just can’t help it bro they’re so good I don’t want to stop. Love the low key vibe it creates. Big fan of your work.
So glad this video still exists on here - been watching this yearly since it first came out. So good
damn that last beat is a fkn GEM!!!!!!! 7:50
It is a GEM...💎
It's not only the sp, grap is a New Yorker he's got the hip hop gene!
dammmmm with10 seconds of sample time he made these and only save them on old 3.5 disks I know people that have tons of gigabytes and lots of software but will never make anything close to this smh
we all beat makers know that those 10 sec made it more creative. but it's all in your self to make it happen. who say u can't max your self out in the newer mp with 10-15 sec. who cares we got 32mb.#JUST DO IT.
I have tons of software and gigabytes of libraries, but always just use the SP and vinly. Its just a lot more fun. I love the SP like my baby. Someone wanted to buy it from me for almost 5000, i said no.
I totally agree. Once u learn to chop and pitch down samples u realize 10seconds is plenty time for a rap beat. Thanks for the videos man
Yea that’s a trip huh
True, true, if someone's good they'll even get the sound right somehow with a children's Casio synth, 99.9% is the operator.
its like looking into hip-hops house, if it were an actual person
Grap & Pete.. Soul Brothers
Some of these beats are on his new album "Sounds of Mount Vernon"
Really dope. U guys should check it out!
Whats the 1st beat
The last beat is FIRE...
I wish the tracks from both part 1 and 2 of these videos were released as an instrumental compilation. IMO these are some of the finest Hip Hop beats ever made!
Dthebeatsmith true

Been saying that ish for years still hasnt smh
@@vap0rw4ve25 Grap Luva - Sounds Of Mount Vernon
His beats are way too good to be that humble.. still good to know there are some people out there like that..

I'm still here 8 years later, waiting for the beat at 7:45 to get release :( @GrapLuva
Music runs in that family forreal! Big up Pete & Grap!
I believe its the best video for the sp 1200!! With this video I bought the sp!!!!
7:48 beat is so strong.
I love going on dilla vids, grap vids, mf doom, etc because everyone on those vids is just passionate about music and hip hop and theres positive energy! no hate like on every other damn genre on any youtube vid
that's true...
😂😂😂
Mike Seager fucken hippie
Dave Acosta How is he a hippie? Baseless claims.
On me bruh its all love ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
SP for life. From the SP-12, SP1200, SP 202, SP 303, SP 404, SP 404SX, SP 505, SP606, SP555
MPCs are definitely the one for of a more commercial and polished sound. But we all know we fell in love with the beats cause of that grimy and gritty sound and the SP's are the staple for that. MPCs users are jedis and SP users are siths hahaha!!
Beat Fanatic hope you know that 12 and 1200 is emu and the other sp you listed are by boss.
Everybody knows that. Im just saying these are the machines I grew up fucking with.
Beat Fanatic ohh gotcha
You obviously haven't used an MPC 60, 3000, 2000, or 2000XL. Those machines are GRITTY.
sp1200 will have your drums SLAPPIN
Granted you know what you're doing!
Just sample hot enough and dont pitch drums too much in the SP
Deep Society fuck off i see you on every 1200 vid like damn
just copped an sp, after all these years looking at it, wanting it. I absolutely love this machine! the sound is unmatched and the limitations are what makes you think. its beatmaking the "hard way", but its so much fun. sp will never leave me
Should be called 8 minutes & 29 MORE seconds with Grap Luva. One of my fav. beatmakers...
MAN ALL HIS BEATS IS JUST PURE FUNKY!!!-THAT TRACK AT THE 3:54 MARK IS CRAZY!!!!HE NEEDS TO COME OUT WITH MORE PRODUCTION.GRAP IS SO FUNKY!!!!!
Oh man, this video still motivates me to hop back on that classic sound.
And 8 years later?
Man when you actually got dudes who know wassup with beat making and Hip-Hop you get chill ass vibes!!!!!!
"Beats & Rhymes" immediately reminded me of "What I'm Here 4" Moment Of Truth
This video is like the X on the Map!!!
I love seeing people passionate about the process, it Feeds the soul ✊🏾

Grap Luva is MAD HUMBLE. His beats are SICK!!!
PLEASE RELEASE THAT LAST BEAT, WE NEED THAT TO FEED OUR SOULS....
This interview always calls me back again and again. One love to Grap luva and Redef. -cityscape
These beats are incredible, can't for the "jah sounds" instrumental record. This sounds (all of them, part 1 and 2) are like drugs for my soul. I cannot believe these have been collecting dust, but so good to hear something fresh in 2010 that was made in the late 90's. I can't get enough of Grap, Def on the status of the great producers! No question. PEACE Jah Bless
2021 still jamming
Jammin in 2024

@Joey Bibby
When you say "GRAP if u got time pleeeeeeeeeese help the mental state of hip hop pleeeeeeeeeeeese we need to reinstate old school.Rough and smooth at the same time...cant smoke out to wiz khalifa"
Mental state of Hip Hop needs no help. Research the Temple of Hip Hop, read the First Instrument.
"Old School" is also an unhealthy term. There is nothing old school about us. The Culture never died. People just don't know where to find it. Those who are about the Culture, WILL find it. It never went anywhere. It's not "90's" and it's not "Old School"
We never left. Just don't get exposure on corporate TV, Film or Radio. When you tune out from what your told to like and believe, you can find your own ways, and such a further existence.
This goes out to anyone finding this video. You cared enough to find this video, you might just be the type to care enough to find more of what your looking for.
Beautifully stated, true Hip Hop Culture is still alive, its back where it started
THATS LOVE LIKE HOW DAMU(PRODUCER) GRAP SHOW MUTUAL LOVE AND RESPECT FOR ONE ANOTHER. LETS ME SEE TRUE HUMANITY IN THESE CATS MY WORD G FOR REAL
The sound of the sp is just incredible
The first beat from the beginning is always in my head during school. Sometimes im shaking my head 2 the beats from this vid and i think some people notice. Fuc it though, i guess im letting em know i got soul. REAL HIPHOP WILL NEVER DIE!!
Classic sounds!
hard drums --- that's what makes this hip hop shit so great

Solid gold, just like last time. I didn't think I could be more impressed....but I am.
such a cool, humble and genuine human being
grap is nice no doubt!!!! but Pete........... is one of the greatest ever!!!!!!! PERIOD!!!!!!!!!
GRAP if u got time pleeeeeeeeeese help the mental state of hip hop pleeeeeeeeeeeese we need to reinstate old school.Rough and smooth at the same time...cant smoke out to wiz khalifa
THE LAST BEAT IS GODLY.......
Damu preserved another classic moment in his ever evolving musical journey. The old saying, "wanna be the best, do what the best does"... Well, In case you haven't been keeping up. He told is his personal fav was P.R.... Why not build with the "younger soul brother" and get some of that "happenstance" beat making knowledge. Genius move for sure... As always bruh, Mad Respect... What up Grap... M.V. Lincoln Ave... Standup!!!
Peace... Netm8kr
One of many favorite hip hop interviews
shivers
haha pete rock boot camp. i wish i could go to that. lovin' these beats Grap. respect!
Love that SP sound...one love to Grap..his sound is amazin!!!..Peace!!!
No dislikes... No madness... Just hip hop...
Crazy ass dope beats and story
Damn Grap...U'za Beast!!!!! SALUTE!!!
@GrapLuvaMr7 No doubt fam. Keep giving the listeners what's missing. That "real hip hop". It's plain to see that Damu's a throwback from the wonder years. Seeing him building with the pioneers can only make him a better artist, person, and fan of the our culture. Myself, I'm just fortunate to be along for the ride, taking simple pleasure in my small involvement. Mad Respect, bruh. Shoutout to LowBudget too for me.
Peace...Netm8kr

passion to the craft by listening to him speak. I remember Grap Luva
