    @ iEditzU
    Hip Hop fan's would never get into a SP1200. If you mean Hip Hop as in music and that. But those of the Kulture, into the beats side of things, yes. The second thing, it's not the roots of Hip Hop going on here. It's the Kulture of Hip Hop. It's been this way from day one.
    When the mass media giants take a culture specifically to exploit sell-able points, and your just a media consumer it's all your going to see. But Hip Hoppas never died out. In fact, there are even more and more, coming up younger and younger fully immersed.
    Obviously your not just a media consumer, you would not have found this video. If you really are into something, you'll find it very much does still exist. Just a matter of where your interests lay. For kids like me, we grew up fully surrounded.
    Big up man like iEditzU, blessed.

    Yo this shit warms my heart.
    As a hip hop producer I have always revered the SP1200. I started making beats in 2003 and finally with the Rossum reissue and my cheddar right was able to pre order one of the re-releases. Hopefully it helps bring more SPs onto the scene because they bang so hard

    • @spearPYN
      @spearPYN ปีที่แล้ว

      With SP you need the whole studio in your home or mixing it in the professional studio. This machine is mono only so proper mix on high end mixing console is like half of the sound. The MIX OUT jack is mono only.

    • @GraffHabit
      @GraffHabit ปีที่แล้ว

      @@spearPYN uh, what makes you think I don’t have a whole studio in my home? Lmfao. All the outputs on the Sp are mono only… there’s no way to route a sound to two channels at once on the SP. And mine goes into an SSL board. But thanks for your concern I guess

      Halbert S do you know what an SP1200 is?

  • @shortythepresident3913
    @shortythepresident3913 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    The 1200 was o.k. but was too limited as far as sampling. But it was the fathernto the ASR10 which was a REsampler. And E-mu cut a lot of costs with that 12 bit chip. They could have at least put in a 16 bit. But one company i really take my hat off to is Akai. The blew the entire market away with the MPC. The MPC did things 1200 owners dreamed about.

    • @organikness
      @organikness 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They didnt cut corners, but more-so made the price tag accessible to the emerging markets. They were a product of the times. PCM 12bit was the accepted standard for ROM based units at the time (unless you were Sony who produced most of the A/D chips from the early 80s, and the first digital multitracks).
      Yes of course the SP was limited, which is obvious in hindsight, and yes the MPC was revolutionary, but most hip hop between the late 80s and lets say around 94', had been produced using the SP series or the mp60, in conjunction with the S9xx samplers, all 12bit machines.
      /shrug ^_^

    • @newseneus
      @newseneus 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve had many MPCs. I’ve gotten rid of most except my 60, but I’ll never get rid of my SP and it gets way more use than the MPC...
