Thank you Sean, 🤙. This was probably the best interview I have had.
Thanks for talking to us. I appreciate you spent the time. I have brain injury so I can’t talk for even 5 minutes straight. But I speak one sentence at a time, listen back, then redo it or click save. It would amaze people if I told them my one minute video takes hours. 😂
However , no regrets on spending time to learn and try. And I’ve made a few friends along the way.
Thank you for inspiring us. I am also taking my videos in the car during my lunch break. I just take my videos in my iPhone. Do a little bit of editing using a free editing app, then post. I am happy to share my immigration journey to my fellow non-immigrant J1 teachers. I know my niche is small, but I am just grateful to share my ideas and saving them time, money and energy. I am all in for authenticity and this guy inspired me to make more videos in my car and less editing. ❤thank you for this interview. Amazing! 😊
@@powellfulcouplejourney that’s wonderful. I just use a phone too and try to be helpful.
@@LilyGazou yes 👍 I love being simple and straightforward with the videos I created. I edit the once that I mispronounced and some dead air, because I am not a native English language speaker. That’s probably it and add some pictures to it to give it more sense to my target audience. Thank you for your response here. I really appreciate it. Have a wonderful weekend 😊
Thank you bro this was a great interview
Your motivational chat was straight fire bro! Love how you kept it real with that TH-cam grind advice. Ngl, I was feeling a little uninspired with my channel recently, but your hype words just reignited that passion! The way you broke it down about constantly fueling that motivation flame and not letting it die out...FACTS! Imma stay remembering why I started this journey in the first place. Also, your delivery was on point! I could literally hear your motivational voice in my head while reading it.
Wow !! Lightbulb moment at the end with Fog analogy
Simon rules
There’s really no excuse besides self limiting beliefs holding you back from starting! I’ve worked thru them myself
I hear you!
Same for me!
I've had a channel for a while. Now I'm getting serious.
I’m all about no editing
I’m beginning to do less editing and show up with more authenticity. It’s a bit uncomfortable, but much less exhausting. I have yet to see the impact, it I’m interested to see if there’s a difference in views and growth. 🤔
I’m starting to do single shot … it’s not easy but so much faster.
Yesss
I need to do that!!!
@@CookingwithGrace-bh7mt watch some of my lives - its very hard to resist the urge to edit or redo stuff.
I am all about conversational style videos with natural speaking speeds and an “um” here and there. And, have resisted every unsolicited suggestion to tighten my editing. I really dislike the fast-paced, choppy editing style that’s been popular in recent years. And, I feel vindicated watching this! 😊 Thanks, Simon!
Agreed. I dislike that so much. Hard to absorb.
Agreed. I watched a very talented young lady, who edited the snot out of her video, and it was polished and slick, but so FAST paced and so much text and 'visual aids' it was overwhelming. Her message was great, her information and education was on point, but the editing style just didn't vibe with me at all.
Yes!! Thank you for this comment! 🙏🏽🫶🏾
@@mimisart Que medo! Tenho cortado minhas respirações e hesitações dos meus vídeos também, pois acho que trazem um pouco de distração.
I've been watching and learning from Simon for the last 6 months or so. His channel is raw-he doesn't shy away from his past or difficult topics. He shoots most of his livestreams on his lunch break, from his phone, in his car. He is undeniable proof that where there's a will there's a way. Rock on, UE!
🤙 thank you
And he does the work - it goes into the preparation, however.
Just checked! No editing, No background, No lighting, No thumbnail design 🎉🎉 Simply Best 🎉
Exactly
Really
Cool! I think the takeaway is, start a channel and make videos within the niche you are already passionate about, vs starting a channel and then trying to “figure out” your niche. Great video!
Yessss!!!
You nailed it.
Sometimes, I think it’s better to just start even if you have to figure it out as you go along, if need be. It can help you see and figure out what to focus on. My opinion only 😊
Huge fan of Uneducated Economist! Been watching him for YEARS!! So Psyched he’s sharing here!!!🎉❤💥👀
I know Simon for lumber prices during the pandemic. I’m a building contractor and I really enjoyed Simon during the pandemic.
I think his channel also works with his style, brand, and personality. He is extremely authentic and that is what people want. If he did the exact same videos in his car discussing fine art, I’m not sure it would work. But he is blue collar, honest, and sharing his truth. It is perfect for his niche. I am glad he is doing so well. And based on his habits it shows you need no formal education. He has put in 15 years of personal research. That means he can comment on any subject related to the economy. Love it!
Not gonna lie, the editing has been the main factor that's been keeping me from going forward and just go out there on TH-cam.
Thank you for bringing the confidence in me back that this can be done with no editing involved!
Go for it👍🏼

My early videos have no editing and are often doing well. I have concluded that editing is overrated and content is all that matters.
I think this is the best video from this channel. Find someone like us to talk about the success!
I agree. The new and smaller creators are worth hearing from. 💕
@@beautifullifesageg.3951Somenof the big name creators are too far from us. And they all have a team to make things happen. We are everything to our channel(creator, editor, photographer 😂)
Awesome spotlight Sean. I hope to be a guest to share my story as well.
Welp...since there are still only 5 comments on this video;
I will ask my second question.
My 1st one was about the Silver Play Button ▶️
The 2nd question is, I have not been able to get monetized.
I have asked TH-cam for any Possible SPECIFIC issues I need to correct to become Monetized.
They have given me the generic bullet points that look like they copy and pasted off the YT rule/guidelines.
How can I find out What The Problem(s) are???
So I’m a financial advisor and I have mad respect for Simon. Not jumping on the fear mongering and actually focusing on educating people is the right thing to do. I cannot tell you how many conversations I have had to put out fear fires. Mad respect 👍🏻🙏🏼
I like no edit, or minimal edit videos. All the jazz throws me off. All the editing feels so obligatory and tasteless most times.
He is busting so many myths, I love it! Some TH-cam tips and tricks need to be burnt!! Yes be a nerd about something and make mistakes on camera. Yes to just starting with a rickety old cellphone. Yes to ASMR chores channels...anything is possible and can work. I am so done with the crazy fast paced and super polished videos. Broll every 20-40 seconds or text popping up every 10 seconds is just not doing it for me at all (maybe I'm just getting old, lol!!).
Good stuff! A lot of us prefer to watch videos without editing (or minimal editing). I just want to watch / listen to someone who knows what they’re talking about. Text graphics are fine but I HATE over-edited videos!
Some creators spend more time editing and creating graphics than researching topics to have anything worthwhile to say!
100 pct agree!
I'm with you on that. I prefer listening to something real and even though the advice is to do something every 10-20 seconds editing wise (either text on screen, broll or other 'visual aids'), it can get so distracting and overwhelming. If your audience requires that, maybe get a different audience. I'm trying to shift on my channel to less is more and if you don't like it, there's the door....
Possibly one of your best interviews even though I think the "without editing" title is not the whole reason BUT a good hook! 😁 Gotta say his reason for starting TH-cam is priceless (shout-out to Brittney!). Also love the side-convo about working a 9-5 vs being an entrepreneur. Totally agree with you on this and encourage you to do another episode or two devoted to that topic. Good stuff bro!
True
I've had over 200k Subscribers for over a year... am I supposed to apply for a SILVER PLAY ▶️ BUTTON 🤔????????????????
You have 202k subscribers, but the views in your videos have shocked me. Do you have any idea what went wrong?
@@TheRandomNaga TH-cam shorts. Whenever I see someone with a lot of subscribers but they barely have any views, I check their shorts, and usually they have some with huge views. Unfortunately shorts subscribers are useless for getting long-form video views.
Interesting
@benfishermin that's what I thought, but I was confused because her shorts are also not getting enough views. Your point is valid, but there will also be some other reason if I am not wrong. I was shocked because I got 90 subscribers only, but I am getting more than 17k views, and with 202k subscribers, at least she should get 1k+ views, which is not happening. On top of that, there is no ad on here videos. @ITSHproductions I am just a beginner and curious, so please forgive me if I said something wrong.
I’m subscribed to a channel with 150k subs- and she posts every day. But it’s always the same group of 10 or 20 who watch and comment. Strange.
Grateful for Simon!
Yeah, the title is "138K Subscribers WITHOUT Editing", and this guy is really awesome! BUT, he created 1800+ videos in almost 7 years to achieve this. So the point is, if you are so passionate and hardworking like him, you will gain subscribers anyway, WITH or WITHOUT editing :))) ThinkMedia, stop making clickbait titles :)))
Ha ha haaaa
I'm only 11 minutes in and I'm already so inspired by this guy. Such great stories of how to get started!
He is awesome
his channel is great it. it works because that guy is real no edits rough edges and all.
I’m this guy but less famous… for now
Reminds me of another TH-camr Miles Beckler - no edit, no production value. he’s just been making a ton of videos and explains things really well and provides a lot of value.
But I think editing doesn't really matter that much anyway on a video of average length that is about a subject that is important to viewers at the moment.
Sure, if the videos are 10 minutes or longer, and you have a too many "umms", bloopers, and the first 5 minutes you just amble-on about nothing, etc., then you NEED to edit those out because they just add extra unproductive time to your video and will slow it down.
Depending upon whether you record your video with an organized plan or not can make a difference on how watchable it is also.
Some channel creators just do not have a clue about planning their video, and they just yap aimlessly and the video is painfully longer than it needs to be because they are so unfocused in their delivery.
They ramble on a bit before they ever get to the subject of the video, and then interject side info about unrelated things that ends up being a distraction and makes the video unnecessarily longer than it needs to be.
Lesson #1 - Within the first 40 sec of your video create an "If/Then" scenario: "So if you want to...XYZ (appeal to viewers desire), you're gonna want to listen until the end of this video (aka: make the viewer watch your entire video because view duration boosts your channel/ad revenue/etc)." Got it. 😅
That phrase usually makes me skip to the last few minutes actually.
I remember watching this guy when lumber was going crazy! I watched the entire vid. This is a testament to hard work pays off!
Wow, so great. I'm also the eternal pontificator, my mind is like an encyclopedia, so much to share that can really help people in ways literally no one, I'd wager, can because of my background and experience. The problem is I suck on video. Buuut, I got it. Just keep making vids until I don't. Peace brothers, thanks so much.
Interesting phenomenon happening for me...been a sub of UE for years; been watching Zuber/ORAT/DFN for awhile; subbed to Think Media several months ago because I am getting ready to launch a YT channel in conjunction with the launch of a new business. Now all of my favorite channels are converging together at the same time!!
I am listening and watching...and getting ready. 👍
What a good testament to JUST START. Don’t get caught up trying to edit it into the next avengers movie - And then grow from there and find your style. Awesome videos guys!
I found this episode is interesting. ❤👍👍👍
LOVE IT!!! No editing for the Win!!
A great example of consistency paying off on TH-cam! Thanks for the interview! 🙏
You've all got a subscribe button on your channel pages. I've asked how to add it several times on different video comment sections. How do you add it? Someone please tell me before I give up growing the channel and we build the secret society we need to change the world for the better.
This interview was great!! Great insight and motivation to get started! I shared my first video a few months ago, but I found myself stopping because my internal dialogue was focused on the negative, like I’ve nothing interesting enough to say or record, or anything that is good enough! Just recently got back on track uploading and making simple basic videos again. I’m starting slow, just in my car, on my phone, and I’m not worried about likes or views or if my videos are interesting. It’s not the point! Point is to just do it and enjoy! Facing the fear!! And following our curiosity
You have to admit: his niche and all the financial stuff he talks about is TOTALLY boring. My eyes began to glaze over when he began to mention in the interview things such as "mortgage back securities", "credit default swaps", "fractional Reserve Banking", and "macroeconomics". You mean there are people that can listen to a video discussing these subjects and not fall asleep? Yet, somehow he has done well with talking about these type of things in his videos, and I'm glad he is having success with it. The thing I took away from this video is that if he can be successful making videos talking about this very boring financial stuff, then WE should be able to have a decent amount of success (at the very least) by making our own videos of subjects / niches that people actually have interest in! Don't you think there is a total boatload of subjects that are much more interesting than the financial stuff he talks about? I think there is a lot to learn from this man. And that is if he can be successful with the subject he talks about, imagine what we could do with something that is actually interesting.
wow never thought I would see this collaboration in my life!! I've been watching his channel for over 3 years & makes me happy to see him getting the recognition!
Please please please let your guest speak... You interrupted him so many times and your questions were almost a decalogue, I wanted to listen to him more than you honestly. but well tyvm anyway.
I'm too lazy to edit
Me too
Meanwhile I work a whole weekend just to get 30 views 😢😢😢😢😂😂😂😂 #smallyoutuber
Love this interview. I like the grounded real-life relatability. Great advice to boot!
I did the same...
"Just press record."
No editing
Consistent posting
I'm doing 260 practice episodes.
5 videos a week for a year.
Great Advice! Thanks for sharing all this info with us.
Crazy, I used to call myself the uneducated educator 😂
Yesssss! Another episode that directly relates to my inner thoughts.
I’ve been debating if I just need to stay the course or start spending more for a graphic designer, my first studio, etc. I love just sitting down recording and doing minimal edits. I’ll prolly get back to my core of what feels good and applying the 80/20 rule!
I would pass this guy's videos in my feed and always seemed like he was either on an Uber break or got kicked out of the house by his wife.
#howtofanbase ...Definitely worth watching! Even though we've heard these talking points before, what connects is the fact he's so authentic with still having a Job (9 to5), and his personal perspective of what makes what he does work...🤔✨🔥🚀
So good
this is because American television is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo awful we have to spend tim on YOutube instead.
I do Live streaming weekly and get 3.5k views for unedited content, I read and give live reply for comments from previous video it works well.
I wish my channel would make more than $100 a month. I feel like I work so hard on it and it's not worth the work. I don't want to give up, but some many times do want to give up.
This gentleman is one of the BEST source of motivation out there for anyone like me trying to jump on TH-cam with your own channel
Thank you Sir and thank you Think Media
This guy is so inspiring. Wow! Completely turned his life around. But again, nothing happens overnight... it was a long way before reaching that sought-after success. Thank you for sharing this and for putting into perspective how much it actually takes to get there 🙏✨
Top interview, love the uneducated economist channel.
What’s this guys channel name?
www.youtube.com/@UneducatedEconomist/videos
Loved this interview. I have just subscribed to Simon’s channel. Authentic guy. Great job
today’s content is so fast paced, it will go back to nocut editing in few years.
I have a very small TH-cam channel and small Farm business.. that I just started after retiring from doing hair for 27 years , due to lots of arm issues… But I’ve been gardening and homesteading for 10 years so I just decided to film my everyday work!!! It will be what is will be 😂!!
Me too & Now no Shoes or a suit & tie❤
Have you read The Creature From Jekyll Island? The federal Reserve is a private bank.
👀
I believe the consistency part, it has grown my Channel speeding in the past 1 month
Millions of new creators yet only few get the attention of a review
His honesty made me get new insight about my channel I appreciate you all for this
I can’t get paid with cleaning??? That was awesome asmr?
My take away. Reach out to people for collaborations through their email on their channel. Sounds so obvious, I never thought of it. Thank you guys.
Love it
I really enjoyed this podcast . And certainly having Simon as your guest was most informing !
This resonated with me. I appreciate you bringing all these guests.
Thanks for taking the time to share this! Glad this was valuable.
This is great! Only a few minutes in and really good!
I love that he started with a passion and a willingness to research, but not necessarily the credentials. It sure helps to know that I'm not the only one figuring it out as I go.
Simon’s secret is that he’s a genius.
What an inspiration!
Editing is for suckers! Just kidding folks, sort of.
Hey my guy the uneducated economist! I love his videos
His chasing money analogy with the dog needs to be a short.
Great video. I’m amazed at the number of people who post videos saying they don’t want or shouldn’t have to work. And I say you don't, as long as you know how to hunt, fish, and homestead. You know, do the things most young people walked away from back in the day to go into the big city for a job because it was easier
True
Great interview and perspective! Thank you!
It takes a special talent to make videos that you don’t have to edit. If I could figure that out, my channel would be huge. I currently have 7 videos recorded that still need to be edited.
Very inspirational. Great interview.
I'm going to just keep posting and getting better. Hopefully the subscribers will come.
Thanks for the motivation.
I have been doing faceless but want to try showing my face. I hate my face but want to try something new. My channel is true crime and horror story narration. I figured with true crime, showing my face may be better as to connect with my audience.
Congratulations to Simon on a job very well done! 🎉
You could be dimly lit-/ scary. 👍🏼
Amazing, you don't have to wear a baseball cap indoors to grow a youtube channel.
Interesting, similar to Sam Sulek with his growth
Alot of youtubers grew without editing, like Moist Critical , Casey Niensat bc they tell the story better
Many have. Casey tho… has crazy video editing. 🔥💯
Great Video & Interview!
The real reason why this guys channel is successful is because his appearance and personality are unique among people who talk about the economy. He is the opposite of the overweight polished looking articulate person who talks about the economy, so he has an audience that no one else is reaching and he’s doing a great job fulfilling a role that no one else is even trying to fill.
He has a 'DOOM AND GLOOM' channel, with assorted grifting.... people will buy anything if they are afraid.
I do 30 min tours on luxury RVs and occasionally I can get it done with one shot but it’s got some stuttering in it 😂 2 weeks I’ve gone from 150 subs to 430! Slowly growing, but the voice in your head that judges you can really get in the way sometimes
I’m not editing anymore 😅
Fantastic! Genius! Inspiring, informative, & insightful! Thank you!
ONWARD >>>
No editing isn’t a good push unless you can do that type of volume, 1.9K videos.
Love it. Very encouraging to know you don't have to be an editing genius.
One thing - his latest video was 2 months ago?
Thank you Sean and Simon for a great interview full of valuable information!
Wow! Stuff dreams are made of! I have been plugging away on my channel for years now chronicling my life as a homeless person living a nomadic life in my caravan but I just can't seem to get the kind of success on TH-cam I see others in a similar situations getting..Having only recently been monetized I am trying so hard to learn whatever it is I'm missing.
Thanks, very informative honest info. Personal issues with Fear, no views, depressing, too many fake videos-fake gurus, really is a problem for me and so many others. Best way, stop watching, start recording!
Yes!! I’m in Oregon!! I love Astoria. This has been one of the best and most beneficial interviews!! You’ve helped me a LOT! Thank you both so much!!
Why not putting car in a studio ? 😂
