This is the perfect project for me to learn to do a Dresden plate. A little smaller for me but can't wait. Excellent instructions. Thank you.
Oh Jeanne! I’m so appreciative to you for your kind words! Good luck on your Dresden plate ❤️ You can do it!
I like the sewing two semicircles idea together.
Thank you so much! I love hearing feedback to know this tutorial was helpful. 😊
Those fabrics make me happy. I’m sure the recipient was pleased. Thanks for sharing. I think that will work very well on my DR table because of the size. I would have never thought to make it that size.
I hope so too! Thank you for your kind words and good luck on your sewing project for your table 🌼
I just finished a large Dresden Plate from your tutorial. Your instructions are very easy to understand. Thank you so much.❤
Oh this makes me so happy! Thank you so much for sharing about your project and kind words! ❤️ Thank you! 😊
@@OxygenFarmQuilts Where can I send a photo of the project?

Lovely project, thank you for the tutorial!
You are so very welcome! Thank you! 😁
I love the material choices!
Thank you!
I would love to watch a video on how you quilted this on your longarm.. How did you 'load' and 'pin' it on with all these crazy angles.... Very nice.. I love how big this is.
Hello and thank you for your question! At the time I made this table topper, my longarm frame was used with pole clamps. After I quilted each section, I removed the clamps and spun the topper to Quilt the next sections. I continued this process until all spaces were quilted, making sure the bottom was always smooth. Also, I always keep a ruler base on my machine. I hope this helps!
It is absolutely lovely
Thank you so much! ❤️
Christine, I really enjoyed and loved this tutorial. I like dresden plates very much. Thank you for your time.
Hello Maria! You are so sweet! Thank you for your kind comment 🤗 I’m glad you enjoyed the tutorial ❤️

Thank you!
You can also use a lightweight fusible interfacing for the center. Put the glue side and right side of the fabric together. Do Not Iron It. Sew a seam. Cut a small slit in the interfacing only and turn it inside out. You now have a sewn circle, right side up and glue side of the interfacing down. Just iron it into place to activate the glue. Then sew it into place.
Thank you for your suggestion! Whenever I have done that technique my circle is wonky Lol! I’m just not patient enough when sewing the circle and flipping it. 😂Great idea and I thank you for your input 😊
@@OxygenFarmQuilts NP. I’ve never tried it. I saw someone else’s channel do it and it looked easy. I’m wanted to try this as a Christmas tree skirt. I’m just not brave enough yet.
Lol! You can do it! With a Christmas tree skirt you may not need the center circle. Leave the last seam of the blades open for being able to wrap around the base of the tree. Instead of inverting the top, you will use binding. I will add this to my list of “video tutorials to do list“ 😁
Hi! I just ran across your channel in my feed today. I love how you talked through each step and the angle of your camera is spot on! The choice of fabrics are gorgeous! I would love to know what the backing fabric is called and brand if possible. I have subscribed and will be binging while I’m sewing til I get up to date. Very detailed tutorial. Love the fabrics used. Do you have a link to purchase the background and backing fabric? Thanks for sharing.

????? I just found your channel and am loving it. I have a question for you about the center applique circle. I would like to make that circle in reverse applique. I have never made a dresden plate anything but would like to. I dont have a dresden plate template at all. Do you have a video or measurements to make one? If you have any advice or tried this please let me know. And thank you for all your videos
Hello! Welcome to my channel and thank you for your question! I have two videos that show how to make a large Dresden blade from a small Dresden ruler. Since you do not have a Dresden ruler, you can Google ‘standard Dresden ruler’ (look for the 18 degree style) and download a picture to copy/trace onto cardboard or paper. I will leave links to the two videos below. For the reverse appliqué center circle, be sure to make your circle larger to allow for turning and to cover the middle. Please let me know any other questions you may have. Happy sewing! 😁

I want to make table topper out of my late husbands ties. Can you give me any suggestions on how to do that?
Hello. I’m sorry for the loss of your husband. I create Dresden Memorial pillows out of neckties. I have a fast video on my channel that was created for entertainment purposes that will show one being made. I will attach a link to that video. I plan on creating a slower, traditional step-by-step tutorial on making Dresden plates out of neckties. I have used the necktie Dresden‘s for pillows as well as Table runners by attaching 2-3 together in a row. Thank you for your question and I wish you all the best. Take care ❤️

Somehow having twenty blades is not worming out for me. Tooany blades and wont lie flat. Coukd you tell me how wide the blades are at the widest point?
Oh no! I have a few questions to try and help… What is the ruler you used and how long are the blades you made?
@@OxygenFarmQuilts I used a regular 6 1/2 inch ruler using a Dresden plate template as the guide. They are eighteen inches long
Okay, thank you! The width of the end of the Dresden blade before turning them into points for an 18” length should be just over 6 1/2 inches wide (actually 6 5/8 inches). In the video around the 10 minute mark you will see that my plate doesn’t lay flat to begin with. The blades are cut on the bias and can get totally stretchy. A very hot iron with steam can help lay them flat. I suggest trying to iron and shrink those fibers back down first. If that doesn’t work then you could try sewing all of your seams in a little bit. I hope this helps! ☺️
Also, there are different degree templates out there. The standard is an 18 degree but there are 10 degree, 22 1/2 degree etc.
@@OxygenFarmQuilts oh okay. That is probably the problem. I thought they were all the same. I will just fiddle with it and make it work without the 20 blades. No one will know the difference unless I tell them😂. Thanks for your help.

What do I do if
My blades won't lay flat once sewn together? I have ironed over and over.
Oh no! 😟 You may want to try a high steam with your iron. Also, you could try sewing a few of your seams in a smidge to help with the puckering. For me, personally, a very hot iron with high steam works best. Start on the outside and work your way to the center. I hope this helps 😊
