I save scummed the unity about 30 times to get the universe i wanted with "You?" in it. "You?" Is my favourite companion for an evil playthrough. My twin is totally down with killing sprees and piracy. ❤
A quick update on this method, theres a much much faster method now. So after you skip the credits, the game will force you to make changes on your character and pick new traid if youd like, the game creates a new save file with the name "starborn guardian. Now theres no need to re-load the save before entering the unity. You can just reload the starborn guardian save after exiting it, every time you reload, you'll have to make character and trait changes if youd like, keep and eye out for the (mast distric). I have yet to find my recruitable self of the (mast district) universes, but i have gotten plenty of alternate universes this way at a MUCH faster rate
You are correct there and I tried to attach an update to this video. The only real difference I notice is that re-rolling the suit requires waiting through the Unity cut-scenes. Otherwise, generating new universes is easiest on the ship. Will also note that 'recruitable me' is essentially a normal Starborn/NG+ universe with Constellation available. Calling the 'non-Constellation' universes the 'alternate' is slightly inaccurate, but works well enough.
Wow, Excellent information. I just hit Starborn l15 level 172 and I've been attempting to get a good alternate universe and my way was way more tedious and I never noticed this after all this time. This is so much better to control that. Thank you.
Thank you for this. I have completed multiple NG+ sessions and always in the same universe because I did not know this little detail about Mast district NOT appearing in parenthesis. My first time following this technique I met my evil twin and was completely shocked. Had to run downstairs to collect enough ammo to win that fight.
If you're looking specifically for the universe where you can recruit yourself, that one says (Mast District) in the mission prompt for 'One Small Step' as well.
That's what I've heard. It otherwise looks like a normal universe and you won't know until you walk in the door of the Lodge. So it's a longer cycle if you're trying to re-roll for it. I might try it on my NG+ round. Thanks for sharing that.
I'm currently in NG 9, and I've only seen one alternate universe. You can also use the save point to re-roll for a better Starborn suit if you desire. I have and then that's my suit of choice for each NG run.
Re-rolling for better suit perks is a good plan. I grab the Mark I set, upgrade it as an alternative, but if I got a solid Starborn suit right off the bat I'd probably skip that and just start looking for guns! :)
It works, but it took like 30 try's to get it the first time, for a while I thought I did something wrong. Also you don't need to do the whole end credits sequence you can just reload the save that you get once the new game starts.
It took me 20+ tries to get my first one but at least it was faster. I had tested it before and gave up. :/ "Yes" on the saved game too. There's a very short update video on that process too. There should be a card in the original video that links to it, but it's easy to miss imo. At one point, I put the probabilities in a spreadsheet and carried them out through 50+ iterations. There is always a very small, non-zero chance you won't get one. As I recall, it's over 40 cycles before the probability of getting an alternate universe in X attempts passes 99%, but still there's a tiny chance you won't get one. Frustrating if the rolls aren't going your way, but as long as they use RNG, it's our world.
I'm going to save you so much time. You don't have to save before you step through the Unity. When you leave the unity and enter your new universe it creates an autosave. A few seconds later the quest loads to go to the lodge. You can keep reloading that save. This is significantly faster than rewatching the end scene. I'm on NG9 and I've had 5 alternate universes because I use this trick ever other universe.
Mine doesn't show up as an Autosave, but there is a new save after arriving in the Starborn Guardian. I had tested with that before and not had any luck getting an alternate universe. I also managed (one time) to sneak in my own save/quicksave that worked. I did it 20 times this morning (almost gave up again) and on that last try it came through. I usually get an alternate on fewer reloads when going through the Unity again, but (!) that is a lot more time. Overall a great tip and I'll look for a way to modify the video and description. Thanks!
@@kineer Correct, it shows as a hard save, not an auto save. I called it an auto save bc it automatically happens. It does take several attempts, but each attempt is so much faster. 😁

I have a save right before walking into it. I noticed that the stats on my suit change everytime I reload so it should be obvious, but I iust want to be 100% sure
As I understand it, every time you go through the unity your suit should re-roll. I think people do that just for the potential Legendary options. I will highlight that a viewer in the comments pointed out that's an automatic save (not labeled Autosave) that you can restore from once you arrive on the Starborn Guardian. I did a very short update video on that and it's linked the original description. Should save time. So if you are following that process, you don't have to save back before the Unity.
This no longer works. I have gone through the unity over 60 times and I’ve also tried the method of reloading the save on the starborn guardian after having gone through the unity and have never at any point gotten an alternate universe. I don’t even get a mission to do anything.
I tested after the May update, have hours (GBs) of video of it working. This video was made after that time as well. Not sure what to tell you, but I suspect something is wrong on your PC or Xbox.
It's essentially a Bernoulli trial with a 15% chance of success. It works exactly as demonstrated before and after the May update. The only real difference since May is the inclusion of the character customization panel when you arrive on the Guardian. I will note that if it's your first trip through the Unity, may have reported the Bethesda has forced it to be a normal universe. Perhaps because they want everyone to experience that option. Great calculator here to understand it better. planetcalc.com/7044/ Plug in 20 trials and 0.15 chance of success. Even with 20 trails, there's a 4% chance you never get an alternate universe. If you plug in 30,40,50 you'll note with more trials the chances of getting 0 does eventually converge on 0%. So the more you try the greater your chance of success. It's not very comforting but even with only 20 trails, there's a 10% chance you can get 5 alternate universe. Probability is a fickle beast. In any case, good luck.
@@kineer I do have a question if I got the one with “you?” In it on my 3rd run is it possible to get it again on my 12th if I keep going thru unity or is it impossible since it’s already happened once on that character?
@watersoflife1013 Possible means 'probability greater than 0%' so it's easy to say yes, but doesn't really tell us anything about how probable it is. [edit] This player variable exists, PlayerUnityTimesEntered so we know the game has this information. What it does with it is harder to chase down. This likely used to determine which armor and Guardian ship you get, but Bethesda is likely forcing certain things too. All stuff that's hidden in the code. We have some knowledge the process of how this works based on what PC players were able to manipulate. Search "Starfield 17E727" and you'll get a lot of discussion on the subject. Even if you're on Xbox you can find details on when it may or may not happen for you.
Keep in mind the "recruitable me" universe will look like a normal NG+ universe, i.e. it will say "(MAST DISTRICT)" in the corner and you will find the Constellation people at the Lodge. There are 9 true-alternates where there is no opportunity to work with the Constellation companions. There is one odd-ball-alternate (for lack of a better term) that essentially seems like a normal NG+ except when you arrive, you will also be In that one you will not have the chance to do the main quest since you have to tell them you are a Starborn to explain why there are two of you. Also note, I've not seen anyone get alternates on their first NG+ universe. Bethesda seems to force you to the Lodge with Constellation on the first pass through Unity. I do not know if they also limit the 'recruitable me' option on that first first time too. th-cam.com/users/shortsO6rVKmywX7g th-cam.com/video/X_VIkm20nxs/w-d-xo.html

This is kinda trash sadly I’ve done it around 20 times and got nothing different it’s the same standard universe every single time
It's essentially a Bernoulli trial with a 15% chance of success.
Great calculator here to understand it better. planetcalc.com/7044/
Plug in 20 trials and 0.15 chance of success.
Man i have tried abt 70x to get to the universe where i can recruit myself and i get everything BUT that universe smfh
I do not know if they also limit the 'recruitable me' option on that first first time too.

i have played the game 10 times and never got an alternate universe. its such bullshit bc the starborn say you will be in an alternate universe but nothing changes.
It's rare.
