Ik it's a theory in so many franchises and it bugs me this one isn't as egregious as the pokemon ash is in a coma theory and I could actually kinda see it especially for lonesome road specifically but it's still just a dumb theory that's definitely not true in almost anything people apply it too
It’s clear to me, the reason Joshua pronounces Caesar’s name incorrectly, is purely out of spite. Knowing that his name is being mispronounced would be a massive hit to his ego, and he understands that. Seeing how he was one of his most trusted lieutenants.

Same reason that American politicians pronounce enemy leaders names wrong. And also because American politicians are dumb.

I also thought it shows some intelligence on his part. If you aren't 100% sure how someone feels about Caesar, then you would want to use the NCR/English/layman's pronunciation. This way you don't provoke an undesirable reaction. I felt like if he was dealing with one of caesar's scouts (before killing him), Joshua would use the Legion/Latin pronunciation.
I'm pretty sure the Vault 13 Canteen has a water chip in it, so every 5 minutes you pee into it, and it purifies the canteen into water.

I'm sure someones mentioned by now, but .223 and 5.56 are effectively the same, so if That Gun fires 5.56, it could also fire .223 (the reverse would not be true, if its built for .223, firing 5.56 would cause a catastrophic failure)

.38 Special can also be utilized by pistols chambered for .357 magnum, but not the opposite way around.
It probably wouldn't cause a catastrophic failure, but it would result in significantly increased wear and tear. Like, it's still not a good idea, but the gun is unlikely to explode in your hand. It's also possible that the original weapon was rated for 5.56, but sold as a varmint rifle. (The .223 pistol is explicitly described as being a cut down rifle in the original item description.) This also happens with some 7.62 rifles that are actually designed for .308. (Note that in that case, the civilian round is the more powerful cartridge.)

The fact that people theorized that the Joshua Graham we meet isn't the original is something else. Lanius' multiple origins confusing some people, I can wrap my head around where a theory can arise, but cooome ooon.
It's possible that when they were recording the lines regarding Lanius's past that in between the two different characters the story changed.
I agree it's such a stretch like no it's Joshua Graham if he was a different man it'd kill everything the dlc is trying to do and people fall out of airplane and survive so why the hell can't he fall down the grand canyon and live especially if he hit a couple cliff edges on the way down it'd slow his fall it's rare people survive those things but it happens
Caesar (Kai-sar) and Caesar (See-zer) are the same word, one is just the Latin pronunciation, Kai-sar, while the other is just common English, See-zer
The point about the courier never remembering the divide was that it wasn't anything important to him but it was important to Ulysses.

Totally I specifically remember it's one of the things in convo with him I remeber very well he's talking about the package you delivered and the courier can basically reply just like oh yeah I really vaguely remember that package but like what does that have to do with me and that's when he reveals everything is your fault in which the courier is just kinda like how was I supposed to know it was just another delivery
My headcanon is that we are not the courrier he has a beef with. I mean, dude wants to launch nukes he's just fucking insane

One small thing regarding the fallout 2 highwayman trunk - the actual bug in fallout 2 was that the non-trunk part of the car wouldn't be rendered, so all you would appear to have was the back quarter panels and trunk.
The thing about that gun being 556 instead of 223 doesn’t really matter. 556 rifles can fire 223 without issue.
I think there are 2 possibilities on why the courier doesn’t recall the divide.
The first is that maybe the courier is in denial, imagine being a good karma courier and being told that you caused the destruction of an entire city, in case of evil karma courier probably is trying to avoid responsibility for so much destruction, the reason why the dialogue doesn’t clarify that the courier is lying could be because the courier isn’t lying to ulysses, is lying to himself.
The second I think is the most likely, and is that the courier has visited many towns and settlements and doesn’t remember them all, in their dialogue with the lonesome drifter there is the implication that a male courier with lady killer perk might have impregnated a woman in Montana, that place is very far away from new vegas, and in fact other dialogue (I don’t remember the npc name, but it was one you recruited for a show in the tops casino) the courier mentions that they saw some shows in new Reno. What does this mean? That the courier has traveled across a good chunk of the western portion of the United States, so isn’t difficult to guess that the courier simply doesn’t remember most places they visited unless they stayed for a time, make sense that the courier remembers new reno because most people would stay for a time to enjoy the casinos and shows, but we don’t really have proof that the divide had entertainment shows or other attractions that made the courier stay for a time, as far as the courier was concerned the divide was just another settlement where he deliver mail. In this instance make sense that the courier doesn’t remember the divide, and considering that the divide was destroyed years ago probably the courier never made the connection between the mail they carried to the divide and it’s destruction.
the idea that the outer worlds is what the devs at obsidian thought a mr. house win would end up like is a interesting way to look at it and if its true following that logic then the people who made the outer worlds and now work at obsidian have none of the writting abilities that made new vegas great because mr. house was a well written person who many disagree with but he has clear motives and goals that arent just be evil as the corporations in the outer worlds are
The people who wrote Outer Worlds are longtime industry members, at least one of which was also a longtime of Obsidian who’ve collaborated with the ‘big names’ of that company on some of their most personal projects; I’d wager a guess and say that the core Obsidian staff wholly disagree with you on their talents.

Hey, American here. .223 and 5.56 are nearly identical and often interchangeable in firearms. .223 is calibers( fraction inches) and 5.56 is milimeters. By saying they didn’t have .223 they mean they didn’t have a use for another ammo type that is virtually the same.
Edit: for more context, the bullet themselves are the same size, but a 5.56 casing is shaped differently to allow a small but significant amount of extra powder to be added, meaning that a 5.56 will ignite at a higher pressure.
It is 100% safe to fire .223 in a 5.56 gun, but there are debates and some people warn that firing 5.56 in a .223 gun will cause damage and undue stress to the firearm.
Finally, in regard to not adding .223 for a lack of use, the same thing happened in NV with the .30-30. .30-30 is a popular lever gun cartridge but in the context of new vegas it would not have had a use besides having a weird niche and confusing players with an extra 2 guns and a round.
.223 is one tenth of a millimeter wider than 5.56

How am I only *now* learning that Ulysses was *in* the divide when it was destroyed?
That honestly wraps up the whole Lonesome Road story for me; I never got just why Ulysses was so pissed at you.

He's also pissed cause he never could find meaning, purpose, or a sense of community literally working with many different factions including the legion to find those things; and he felt he had found all those things there and just as he was settling in and feeling comfy the rug was pulled out from under him everything was gone and he was the sole survivor. Ulysses is really interesting and has a lot of great dialogue it's a shame people just denote him to bear, bull, bear, bull, and never actually listen to what he's saying. Is he right? No. Is he crazy? Yes. But God damn he gives some good insights in to the world of new vegas and if you do lonesome road right before the battle of hoover damn the climax is amazing

Obsidian made it painfully obvious that the Mysterious Stranger is the Lonesome Drifter's dad.
So obvious when I met him when I was 6 and the game came out I knew it wasn't a theory for me I was just like oh I think this guy is related to that guy and then I killed him and got his gun and I was like yep for sure
5.56 and .223 are the same thing, only difference is in the charge. Basically the same kind of ammo and many rifles now and many decades into the past use them interchangeably.
it says a lot about a game when we are STILL making iceberg videos/ debates about which faction is best and who would win long term about a game 13 years AFTER it came out than about the most recent Bethesda trash or flavor of the month aka Baulders Gate 3. frankly this just reenforces the point i made before that FNV is gamers "concord moment" aka the BEST we are ever going to get in our lifetime

i bought fallout new vegas on the pc (played it briefly before) on steam, do i need any patches? do i need mods? what do i do to play it or can i just go straight to the game?
While you don't need mods to enjoy the game as it is pretty fun on its own. There are plenty of mods that can enhance the game and make a lot more fun such as adding new weapons, armors, companions, quest, and even world spaces into the game.
I would recommend checking out the Fallout mod subreddit for recommendations. There's also plenty of TH-camrs that cover different mods for the game.

I think the Legion did cause the Bitter Springs massacre because the intentional theory is beaten by Captain McGilles who says she was the Major in charge and very obviously hasn’t recovered from her failure and Dhatri saying it was a male was just because of writers not communicating

Bruce Isaac stole the Highwayman from Mr. Bishop, who isn't actually the Mr. Bishop from Fallout 2, but instead is the Chosen Ones illegitimate child. Otherwise, if it's still the original Mr. Bishop, then Angela Bishop is at least (hopefully) 60 years old. Mr. Bishop could've had another daughter, but I thought the chosen one having a child with Mr. Bishops wife, whom went on to take control of New Reno, was the coolest possible ending.
Also, why did whoever drove the Highwayman go up the road from Searchlight? I know that it's been there for awhile, and the events of that region took place after. But, in what situation would it make sense to drive from the Mojave Outpost to Searchlight, then from Searchlight north to Novac?
I'll tell you what situation. A situation in which the most powerful crime boss in the west is hunting you down and you have to take the back roads.
